  • you suck i hate you

  • Troll harder :)

  • @8stringguitarist the like bar does it for him

  • Sick Man!

Getting my custom 8 fit with a high A here in about 5 weeks.

Non fan; so I need an octave 4 plus. Not too big of a deal. And saves me money on custom made pickups since I do a lot of changes with pickups.

  • No offense, but you should really cut down on the amount of reverb you have, sounds sloppy.

  • How Good Would A 7 Gauge High E String Work For A High A String???

  • @DylanBStringer91 Not too well, it lacks the strength to stay at A4, I've seen people do to with an .008 or .0085 but whether they lasted very long I don't know, Octave4plus is honestly the best way to go. Especially if you punish your strings these wont break.

  • @8stringguitarist What Do I Have To Do To Get One Of Those Strings???

  • @DylanBStringer91 They are the only makers of an A4 string that actually works very well.

  • @8stringguitarist

.008? Shit, that's just my normal E string

  • nice guitar, i have been thinking of picking one up, you play it well

  • FUCK YEA RAZER

  • Razer sticker on the guitar! Badass!

  • fuck no!

  • Dude, start cutting!

  • omg! Yah! The 8 string with the high A is possible! I want it!

  • how long the high a string LASTS?

  • I am actually scared to bend that string.

  • Was that a Mithotyn riff in there?

  • @pseudoevil13 Yes it is, it was just more difficult to do so with this string since it was a .009. His .008s and .008s are much more bendable and about as strong.

  • I am going to buy another 8 string myself. Mine now has a low B and an F# and a 30" scale. It is beast for rhythms but i'm a shredder. The 30" scale makes bending a real pain. Now i'd like one with a B and this high A and a 25" scale. How do you think Gary's new string handles? Would i be able to use a tremolo with it? How long does it usually last?

  • @JosephEpik Congrats, Yes you can use a tremolo with it, actually this whole time you could have, his new strings just tune up much faster I don't think they are any stronger though, you would have to ask him that. When I use his strings at the 25.5" scale they last me months usually I only replace them because of corrosion that eventually sets in, they have never snapped on me in the 4 years I have used them.

  • i would be scared to touch that thing...

  • Once again, videos is nearly 2 years old. Can't judge my playing today, from a video that old.

  • @VikingPowerlifter Once again demo video for product not demo of my playing. The A4 string at .009 has more tension than the .009 Im using for my E4, and is harder to bernd and do proper vibrato. His new strings however have less tension. Also this video is nearly 2 years old, so it's hard to critique my playing to this day.

  • @8stringguitarist

don't listen to that guy, feelings are for girly boys.

  • A Razer logo? lmfao LEGIT!

  • nice razer logo :P

  • I like that geeeetar man!! Beautyful. And nice playing also.

  • whats the string guedge for the high A?

    iv always wondered

  • @proggod876 .009 O4P string, thanks :)

  • I tune my the same way have been for almost 3 years now, I have seen your vid on ss.org already, very nice.

  • I've got an octave4plus high A string on my Schecter C-8 Blackjack, and I love it. I keep my guitar tuned AEADGBEA, which lends its self really well to playing some pretty monstrous sounding chords using all 8 strings of the guitar. Check out my video called 8 string guitar tuning if you're curious.

  • you talk to fast its hard to understand what your saying

  • @technotuesday It's a nervous habit, I hate being on camera, but if there is anything you would like to know please feel free to ask. Thanks

  • Quite a lot of sustain.

  • lol razer decal?

  • What are the advantages or disadvantages of the different gauges tuned to A440? I'm going to buy some of these @ 27.5" scale and O4P recommended .006 or .007, but wouldn't it be more durable if it were say an .008?

  • @Soopahmahn Yes, but at that scale length it wouldn't be as flexible.

  • @8stringguitarist That does make sense, thank you! Would you say a lighter gauge would be able to handle bends better? I'd hope to be able to put some wild vibrato and at least the occasional half-step bend into it.

  • @Soopahmahn a .007 would be your best bet then, you could still do pretty wild vibrato with a .008, since the minimum order is 5 strings you could order 4 .007s and 1 .008 so you can feel the difference in person.

  • @DoctorGutberlet A big plus is to CAREFULLY follow the instructions, you cant just tune it up to A right away like you would with a high E string. I am able to reach a high A at the 30.2" scale, so I can gaurentee you should be able to reach a high A for the 26.5" scale. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

  • @DoctorGutberlet Did you order the 28" strings and not the 26" strings? Does your saddle have any burrs or dings on it? Even if it doesen't, sanding the area where the string contacts the string with 600 or more grit sandpaper really helps. Di the same for the nut to make sure that it is also smooth. Where does it snap? Also when loading the string through the back of the guitar you can't yank the string through quickly like with other strings.

  • why razer logo xD

  • @Guitareye90 I was bored and thought it looked neat at the time, but this guitar is long gone :(

  • where did you get such a sexy guitar?

  • @rtfk101 I made it, it was my second 8 string Ive built, if you like that check out the 11 string Ive built, I demoed it in my other video.

  • I haven't used an Octave4plus string but now that you mentioned it, I shall start asking for orders of seperate.

I was tuned to A4 on Ernie Balls before, which scares me a lot, but these strings you speak of should really help me out more!

  • It's a .009?! High A?! D:

I've been using .008 lately on my 7 string. Well, I'll be damned!

  • @MikaGuitars Yes it is a .009, you can get up to .015 for a high A at the 25.5" scale from Octave4plus now, are you using an Octave4plus .008 or a regular? Are you tuning to G4 G#4 or A4?

  • Hi,

Could you please tell me what is the size of the high A string?

  • @delvk

    It's a .009.

  • LMFAO GAMING GEEKS LEARN GUITAR!

  • Actually I'm not not much of a gamer at all but I can't deny the geek thing being a guitar geek that is :), I was just looking around for a good mouse, when I found the Razer salmosa, exactly what I was looking for, nothing flashy or with a dozen buttons on it but great performance. It came with that decal and I though why not, spice up the look of the guitar a but, unfortunetly I ended up selling the guitar to fund my 11 string project :(

  • @8stringguitarist wow thtsa cool dood. sorry if i ment it in a bad way. i love razer, i myself play guitar and iam a pc gamer as well :D

  • nice razer sticker haha

  • what are you playing at around 1:14? i have heard it before but never knew the name of the composer or song.

  • @8stringerr

    It's the tetris theme.

  • hhhahahaaahahahahahhaahaahahaha lol aahhhh sorry just really funy and awsome playing m8:D

  • I didnt mean tht in a bad way, i meant thts pretty cool

  • Dude tht was the fucking tetris theme!!!

  • Whoops accidently removed the last comment, sorry.

Its my BOSS NS2 noise suppressor, it really kills the sustain on my amp:(

  • Nope its a .009,

    I have a .005 on my 11 string for a high A and it's not a problem either.

  • i think that 25.5'' isn't long enough for an 8 string if you play with an low fsharp

  • Thats why this guitar has a high A instead. You can use it with a low F# but your looking at some thicker strings around .074-.080, but it may end up sounding muddy.

  • ah okay. thx.

do you think if i buy a ibanez rg2228 with an 27 inch scale it would sound good with an .074-.080 string as a f sharp?

  • Sure, 27" is perfect for F# below that it gets a little muddy, start with a .074 first and then keep upping the guage until you feel it sounds good. The ibanez comes stock with a guage below .070 and discourages many people from buying it because it honestly sounds like crap with that tiny guage for the low F#. With the right guage it is an excellent guitar.

  • okay. thanks dude, appreciate it. im gonna do it like you said.

and by the way, nice guitar. i'd like to see some more vids from you :D

  • No prob, expect to see an 11 string guitar video soon ;)

  • holy dumb fuck! are you kidding? how do you tune that beast`?

  • I aint kiddin, check out all the info and pics here:

    sevenstring. org/forum/extended-range-guitars/87885-11-string-guitar-build-started.html#post1537975

  • hooooly shit dude. this is a hell of a guitar :D. those last frets are tiny! how are u gonna play those?:P

btw what string gauge are you gonna use for the G 0 and the C1?

  • They're pretty easy to play but you have to use your pinky, but the 41st can only be played with you finger nail but the rest are fine. The guitars done now, and I'm using a .145 for the G#0 and a .115 for the C#1 I can go with a .110 for the C#1 but thats it, a .105 is too flubby, I may end up using one of Garry Goodmans .140 guitar string it will have more tension than the .145 I have on now due to his special method of winding the string.

  • okay. it must be great to have such a big range of notes u can play :D

  • Hell yeah you got that right. They put a .068, and it sure is freaking loose as heck.

  • Yeah I got bored one day and added it. I'm making a video of my 11 string guitar with 41 frets soon.

  • What is 1:01, sounds so amazingly familiar.

  • Tetris

  • TETRIS!

  • With 8 strings, are position shifts that necessary?

  • Its nice if you have large fingers or if you dont likr playing in the higher register because of the more cramped space.

  • surely it gets to a point where the string gauge is so thin it constantly breaks?? Especially on a high A

  • This is actually a .009 guage same as my high E, you can get a variety of guages from Garry Goodman, .005-.015 for the high A, his strimgs are made from a different alloy and is much stronger than conventional guitar string wire.

  • wow cool, ill check em out. Thanks.

  • Unfortunately not yet, Garry has only developed a high C for the 25.5" scale, you would have to make a fanned fret 8 string ranging from 25.5" to 22" scale and still use his strings to get that high D.

An alternate option is to use the high C and tune all strings above it 1 step down like this(low to high): DGCFADGC

    Thanks for the nice comment!

  • work in your fast alternate picking, in your "Endurance" section of the video, hands have no sync at all when you start getting fast.. also, try to keep left hand fingers closer to the frets, because there was a lot of noise in your playing.. anyways, nice vid, nice guitar, intersting tunning, keep up the great work..

  • I posted in my description this wasn't meant to be a display of my technique, but thanks for the tips :) I was basically just picking as hard as I could to show that the string would not break, I'll make another vid focusing more on my technique, I pick alot more lightly when playing fast in a regular situation.

  • My mouse would love that guitar!

  • mouse?

  • You have a razer sticker on your guitar. Your guitar matches the light decal on his high end mouse. Mine too btw, Razer Deathadder ftw.

  • Ah, at first I thought he was talking about the animal. And yes Razer ftw.

  • What song is that what you play at 1.01? I just cannot for the life of me think of what it is.

Nice guitar too, been wanting a 7 or 8 string for a while now

  • Thanks!

It's the tetris theme. Go for it, they really expand your playing.
