Well, let me put it this way why I don't think all figure skaters should copy one another. Each figure skaters are unique. Caroline has a different way of expressing artistry. We don't want to see figure skaters copying each other when they can bring their own individual contribution to the sport. I feel that excessive copying will ruin the quality and the component of the sport. One can be inspired but one has to contribute her own unique personality to the beauty of figure skating.
I admire her jumping ability. I admire her pearl spin, and spirals. However, she seems like she bored when she skates. She needs to be more expressive. I do think, though, that she should have been in 2nd after the short, ahead of Flatt and behind Czisny.
i was just thinking the same thing because i never considered her lutz's to be correct either. she also has a big overhang while in their air i dont know the correct terminology but she needs to work on that and her speed or she will grow into that bad habit.
she got 3 wrong edge entries and 1 underotation. i just think she needs time to grow as a skater. she and her coaches are rushing to get to the olympics but shes not gonna get on the podium with these technical problems. i think she'll probably be a better skater after the olympics, maybe 2010 worlds

Although Caroline does make some mistakes at nationals, she really should be ahead of some of the competitors. What happened to her last year at nationals in the short was unprecedented. Her jumps are quite high! Not low! I hope she will be a complete skater with every listed qualification. I absolutely love watching her skate on video!
Her speed is so much improved from even a year ago! I think not making the World team will light a fire in her to make the Olympics next year --without a doubt!

i've never been a huge fan of caroline's but a 58.91? that is extraordinarily low. although she was relatively slow, and did make a mistake on the double axel .. and the sit spin wasn't that great, but still!

But, I see history repeating itself. Remember 1998 Olympic with Michelle and Tara.... Michelle didn't win despite graceful.... I guess "FIGURE" Skating isn't so FIGURE anymore. No wonder sometimes I hate watching FIGURE skating now cause it's more JUMPING Skating.
its still about artistry but half of the score it technical and caroline had an underrotated jump and 3 wrong edge entries. just because it looks pretty doesnt mean its a good program.
"artistry" and "pretty" can't be found in the ISU Judging System. Usually, " e " = GOE -1 to -3 and " ! " = GOE 0 to + 3. What are you really trying to say?
Wow! And she was only 15?! She is fantastic for her age, and I'm sure she's only going to get better.

Also, on her triple lutz's she takes off on an inside edge instead of outside. So it's a flutz.
I agree with scott hamilton on the announcing that Caroline needs technique.
I also agree with Sarah on the announcing too, that she needs to cover the ice with a lot of speed.

Any skaters that are in contention to be selected for the Olympic team will train/practice harder and smarter over this spring/summer.
As of this writing, Caroline Zhang is the top American lady skater.

Is it just me, or is Caroline's obvious under scoring a real political reason (ethnicity) ?
Caroline is my favorite skater and I don't really understand why she is always after Rachel in US Nationals.
She obviously scored MUCH higher than the latter in 4CC AND Trophée Eric Bompard.
If it comes to an explanation, the only reason I come up with is political reasons (ethnicity)
Remembering that the same happened to Michelle Kwan.
