The rear tailight is Volvo specific since 01 (think S60)

The prelude you mention is not the last but previous to last generation....IIRC, 93-97.

The S 40's rear end looks like an older Opel/Vauxhall Vectra, the front end is very similar to the 2005 Audi A4 ... so you have a'new' car but a classic design ...
