i can only relate to the words and feeling of this far too much. i do hope my may-star comes back to me. the world is far to destitute from an infringing materialistic civilization.
The song can be interpreted as a socialist ode to the struggle of the working class and a praise to the first of may (International working-class day)
Or it can be interpreted as a sweet love poem by a man who sees nothing worth living for except the love he had lost but later reunites with
The author, Halldór Laxness, is a Nobel-laureate, and the most beloved author of Iceland. His stories and poems are without doubt the best piece of literature I can imagine.
@Kajiuzu Part two: These times are tough, We are struggling for work, I have nothing to offer, not a thing I can give, except my hope and my life whether I wake or sleep, This one thing you gave me is all that I have. But tonight ends the winter for every working man, and tomorrow shines the May-sun, It is his May-sun, It is our May-sun, Sun of our unity! For you I will carry the flag of tomorrows land.
@Kajiuzu I've tried directly translating the lyrics, but the poetry is kinda lost in translation. Anyways, I did my best: Part one: Oh, how soft is the sound of your footsteps Oh, how long I waited for you, Spring frosting covers the windows, Icecold wind is howling, but I know of one star, a single shining star, and at last you have come, you have come for me. To be continued...
Just try to translate it on google translate :) Its not a beautful translate but you can see what the song is a about but as i said its not a beautiful translate but you can try ;)
