  • BUILD YOURSELF A WORKBENCH!!! I admire you just for the fact that you will still make swords even on the floor, but damn thats gotta be uncomfortable as hell and kinda dangerous with power tools. So please make some kind of bench to work off of.

  • That is how the Hollywood make their swords max production for the actors. These are cheap and relatively easy to make and from a distance, they look real.

  • is the aluminum sturdy enough to atcually hold without denting or bending during filming?

  • @Outlaw1872 Actually Alluminum is one of the softer metals, so it dents easily. I'd reccomend being as gentle as possible if you're actually clashing something like this against other stuff.

  • lets point out that you know how to work aluminum, polishing and cutting, but you don't know how to make a sword.

  • @Rulox999 It's only a prop, not meant to be a real sword.

  • nice polish man

  • the sound is from super smash brows melee

  • cool

  • sharpen it and it can cut so just ,ake it real god darnet

  • Sorry bud, but your fabrication method is very dangerous and unethical... The end result is still very cool though... Best of luck to you!

  • Out of curiousity, about how much does it cost to make one sword? Because me and my friends are doing a parody that involves (if we can get away with a lot of interesting camera angles) a minimum of five swords, and we have a very small buget for everything, and we've been really stressing over the swords. Thanks.

  • I don't remember, sorry.

  • @RyuBlue I think it would be around 1000 bucks right? Or 500?

  • @Luka1180 Oh, no, it cost somewhere close to $30, that's as far as i can remember.

  • you dont have anny clue xP

  • nice r

  • Nice! very nice! I made two of these myself and roman sper head out of steel and fired it with charcoal while my dad was BBQing lol

. both were viking swords. One of aluminum like this and the other one was a heavier steel I got from home depot. I ended up giving them to my neighbor´s kid. But you got me the idea of making another one once again.

5*s man. keep up the good work =)

  • really cool, but this sword would be way too powerful for me. I was looking for something I could safely duel my younger brother with. Cool vid, though

  • @zanshei try using bokkens or foam swords just as good at teaching the proper techniques without as much danger

  • dude for christmas my dad might actually help me make a sword oh man the master sword my nerdness is almostcomplete muahahahaamuahhahahamuahahhahahahahahaha

  • Did you make a fuller and pommel?

  • got the same file makin a katana

    sweet

  • not bad kid. but you need to retitle this vid. as "how to make a prop sword" by the way how do you have power tools and no bench?

  • did you say aluminium

  • Yeah. This is only a prop, so it dosen't need any fancy heavy metals, just something that looks nice and shiny.

  • my dad says aluminum would bend too easily

  • if you are fighting with it...something you definitely should NOT be doing. That's what boffers are for.

  • hey can you make shadow saber from power ranger SPD and if you can please do a video about it

  • I don't make swords for people, sorry.

  • The reason I asked these ridiculous questions is because I can't understand what you said the first time I saw this vid. Sorry, but a wierd glitch happened where your 2nd vids audio went and mixed on this vid. I wen back a second time and the glitch didn't happen. Sorry for wasting your time and thanks for the vid!

  • whats that thing called for the blade? And the hilt too please. Just so I know what to ask for when I go buy these things. Also, if it's not too much, can you tell me where I can get these materials and for how much? I know I'm asking alot of questions so far, but I'd like to know one more thing. What's the saw that your using called? In this vid, not the second. Thanks!

  • uuummmm... uhhhhhh.. yeah ... ur a fag

  • You do know they have measuring tools right? Get yourself some calipers and a combo square. Oh yeah, how about a work bench, lol.

  • its funny for me to see retards who think they know what they are doing

  • dude your fricken crazy. that is amazing. you inspired me! since i saw this video, i have been making like 3 swords per week! :D way to go. and dont stop doing this. you are expert!

  • What are the dimensions of the aluminium plate?

  • I don't remember. it's been a long time.

  • I plan to use 1000x35x2mm. Do you think that 2mm is a reasonable thickness?

  • he used something called an aluminum flat bar

  • where can i get one?

  • on-line or a home depot

  • he used and asphult shingle

  • sorry my mistake he didn't use a asphult shingle

  • tak to każdy potrafi kowalu

  • Nawet taki mieczyk wymaga pewnych umiejętności. // Even making of this sword needs some skills.

  • I watched that Legend of Link movie yesterday ^.^

  • Comment removed

  • how wide is the blade on that and how long

  • 2 1/2 inches wide, 3 feet long

  • Comment removed

  • he dont make a sword he make a butter khnife !!!!

  • Można i tak-porażka hehehe

  • ALE HUJNIA....

  • hey.. can i just give you a tip. when you make a video, you could type down the exact names of the materials used so that people will not be so confused when the buy them.

  • yeah

  • mater si šupak ej !!kup si pravi meč madona no !! prokleto budalo še delat neznaš z orodjem !!mislim omg!!

  • do you mind telling me the exact metal you used? i no you said it was a metal plate in the video but i wanna no what It is really called so i no what to say when i ask the guy for it at home depot

  • I used aluminum, because it's light and can be cut easily. It's not a functional alloy, though, so it will dent easily. A stronger alternative would be steel, or something, but it's kinda heavy.

  • oh, mind showing me it on homedepot(dot)com?

  • quick question, you say it's aluminum, how thick was the bar you bought? 3/4"? 1/2"? I was once trying to make a prop knife for a short film and I was looking at the different thicknesses and metals. REALLY supprisingly expensive at Home Depot. (Couldn't do the knife cause all I had was a dremmel tool with basic parts.)

  • LOL, I made this so long ago that I don't remember anymore, sorry.

  • all right thanks all the same.

  • aluminum is expensive, use steel its cheaper and works better

  • yep, but is it too brittle? I would imagine that if I were to go through the trouble of making one of these I would use it in stunts and choreography, but would they snap with the first couple of bouts? Still, it is cheaper...

  • 1/4 to 1/2 inch is best

  • tanks. Will do.

  • half inch is really really thick for this kind of thing, quarter is fairly thick too, i just made one out of 1/8 in. it is great, as for it being to brittle, it's not all the metals you buy individually at hardware stores is relatively mild ie high carbon meaning it is somewhat flexible. it would have too go through a lot of hammering to be brittle.

  • all right, appreciate it.

  • you really should try it though, it took me about maybe 3 hourse total to make a decent sword (grinding and finishing take the most time). I made an 18th century infantry officer style saber. for the hilt i just took another piece and bent it around which guards the hand quite well. I'd really suggest making one!

  • I will when I can get some spare time and the tools. I go to a college with a full shop, so if I can sneak myself in some time I'll be set. Any idea about making a broad/ short sword guard? I got the basic idea, but as far as keeping it on during combat...little vague. Need something to really hold that sucker on.

  • what the fuck is with the name solitaire u could have at least called it ............ummm.........the light sword cuz it shines?

  • I thought the name "Solitaitre" sounded cool, and besides, "Sword of Light" sounds way too cliche.

  • i guess its a good name i named my sword dragomight

  • dude... that isnt a proper sword. not even made on the right way and wtf since when do ppl figth with aluminum -.o.....

  • When it's a PROP sword, and you don't want to spend $30 plus dollars for dinky stage swords. Plus it takes maybe 3 hours per sword if you have the proper tools. I use a High speed rotory tool. (Think Dremil) No nasty marks to buff out and pretty easy. You can even use some of the buffing attachments to make a fake edge.

  • man the two things ur nerd ass needs are a vice and a grinder.

  • whats the song in the beginning(and i mean when he first starts talking)

  • When I started Speaking? The song is "It feels like (We've come undone)". it's by Man on Earth. You can download it as part of the "Klay World: Off the Table" soundtrack on Knox's Korner.

  • cool thanks btw nice video dude

  • So just how long did it actually take to finish carving the blade's tip?

  • My guess is under 10 minnutes.

  • can you use this tutorial to make real swords?

  • No, real swordmaking is nothing like this. This is just for making prop swords.

  • dude real sword makeing involves steel over half a inch thick and u need to hammer on it for hours upon hours u need special hammers and anvils not to only a fernis at over 100'c its a realy hard to do and only black smith do that kind of thing i would know cause i am a black smith my self

  • ...ur a fagit

  • um i think u ment fagget dumb shit and why would u want to make pussy swords like the one shown so grow some balls and get a real sword "fagget"

  • I believe the real word is faggot and being a blacksmith in World of Warcraft doesn't make you a blacksmith.

  • Because it's a PROP sword. Looks flashy and is quick to make. You would be surprised HOW realistic you can make a sword look out of flat stock. I made one in Iraq with a freaking Dremil that looked real enough to keep people away from our convoy. They knew we wouldn't shoot them if they were only stealing food and or water. (we handed out a lot of both anyways) Plus would you want to get hit with a fake sword? it would still break bones and cut flesh, even when dulled.

  • you dont think i dont fucking know that cause i do im EXPLANEING TO ANOTHER PERSON!!! HOW A REAL SWORD IS MADE IM NOT FUCKING RETARTED YOU DUMB FUCK OMFG SO STOP SENDING ME MESSAGES CAUSE I FUCKING KNOW THAT THIS IS A VIDOE ON HOW TO MAKE PROP SWORDS SO FUCK OFF

  • OMFG...Wow Someone forgot to take his FUCKING happy pills this FUCKING morning OMFG. WOW...FUCKING Keep your panties on. OMFG.

  • well im tired of getting bullshit messages from stupied fucking retarteds like you mabey im a little mad so what fuck off is what im saying

  • it's a prop sword.

  • NO SHIT i was just explaning how to make a real sword

  • Why? This isn't a How to make a real sword video. It's a How to make a Prop sword thats quick and easy. Meaning it takes less than a couple of hours.

  • did u use a metal rule?

  • I have a question. Are the swords sharp or are they just flat? I need to know because I am thinking about doing this for my link costume.

  • They're flat. For saftey purposes, I never sharpen my swords.

  • Secondly you are not allowed to have a real sword on an anime convention silly.

  • when you use aluminum is it lightweight and strong or weak

  • It's lightweight, but weak.

  • Very nice man when i'm abit olderi'll be making loads with sharp points and then make clothing to match it :):)

  • dude if you realy are 17 like you say you are you can make the swords now ima make one tomorrow and im only 11 years old

  • damn you aluminum! I work at an aluminum factory and I hate that fucking thing :P Btw aluminum is also good for props because its so soft, we make 25 centimeter in diameter bolts and you can saw through that with a regular chainsaw.

  • how tick shud it be after fileing

  • how thick after filing? The same thickness, filing is just for smoothening things out.

  • te falta una mesa.

  • jajaja simon, asi como que en el suelo esta muy pitero...

  • I'm sorry, I only speak english, I have no idea what you guys are saying...

  • Xea, it kinda sucks when they dont talk english here! They could have called you an asshole and ppl dont understand, ALL should talk engl. an Youtube, im not talking german either! (Maybe only, on german only movies)

  • Well I dont usually curse, unless someone bothers me... ammm the first guy said "u really need a table" and i made the comment that the floor was begging for him to but one... nvm.

  • VERY cool.

  • until i saw this i was actually thinking the master sword in LoL was wooden. Not sure why I thought that but now i see its metal.

  • u can use sand paper to make the sword shine but it take a long time but it cheaper

  • i'd rather make a wooden want to be more safe dont suppose u can do one with wood instead?

  • Yeah, you just substitute the metal plate for a wooden board it should be fine.

  • aluminum chips and bends easily. you should use steel, or at least iron.

but then you have to actually forge it.

sword making is better when you forge the real way, there is much more effort and you get a better end product, you feel better about having made a real blade instead of a shoddy wall-hang

  • do you have to file them if your using them as a prop?

  • Filing them serves both a saftey and cosmetic reason-first of all you want to make sure that the blade's not rough to the touch, and because it just looks better-filing it helps remove any bulges you left behind while cutting.

  • k thanks

  • lol u made that sword blunt! i like a sharp sword

  • What is the best metal for this?

  • I chose aluminum because it's a very lightweight metal. However, it chips easily because it's very soft. Obsession Studios used actual steel when they made their sword, although Kurt mentioned it was awfully heavy as a result.

  • real swords are bi metal, iron core and 400c steel for the edge or other hi carbon steel to have a hard enough edge that stays sharp, aluminum is a very poor choice, if you want to make it simpler and make a one metal sword use 400a steel not temperd (very important or u will not be able to work it easy) and than temper it by bringing it at 1450 F and cooling in motor oil.

  • how bout i pay u and u send me a sword LoL

  • Google it, I've seen people who do that. But they were expensive ($120+) for a toy sword =(

  • damn 120 i seen sum sword frm lik cosplay and stuff for lik 70 and below LoL

  • omg, just buy real swords at topicool(dot)com =)

  • i dnt wanna kill myself LoL

  • If you can't handle a sword, then your not a real man..

  • im 14 i mean ill get stronger rite LoL i can bench about 120 now LoL so i shuldnt have dat much longer 2 go LoL

  • they don't have real swords, just wallhangers

  • Or you could go to your local flea market and buy a cheap sword for between $15 and $50. Be sure not to fight too hard with either a home-made sword or a flea market sword as they break very easily. Oh, and something about aluminum - it'll lose its shine very quickly. The dullness is oxidization - aluminum rust, in other words.

  • hey dude i made a shield it is ausome i also made the sword with all the same stuff but no special grinder :( but ends up ausome :) i have baught a real Master sword and shield so i knew how it really looks i want ta show ya a pict. of sword and shield but sheild isn't same but what could i say .........BRUSH PAINT so ya know but how do i show pict. or vid. oh ya the dude who asked how much same exacte sheet was actually $12.00 at home depot

  • its actualy called a zipy disc thats what the welders call it

  • hey now ya think you can show us how to make a shield now. my friend :/ please

  • Sure, take a big piece of wood and cut it. Simple as that. If you want metal you can just cut a piece of metal in the shape of the wood and attach it.

  • HOw much are the steel plates

  • Ah, man...I wish I could remember, I was just there at the store last night...

  • O ok thx any way

  • lol this is the reason i got suspended in my schoool XD man i made like a 10 incher and it was sharp and thick. but urs looks so much better than that shank i made

  • he means ur sick like omg that painting is sick!

  • where did you find out how to make swords like that?

  • After I watched the Legend of Link movie, I went on their site and looked up how they did it. This tutorial is based off how they made Link's swords for the movie.

  • you sick

  • its you suck and no this guy kicks ass

  • woah awsome

  • I like the Melee music. *goes to watch part 2 now* X3

  • and a lot of time did you make the sord for the zelda vids ?

  • No. I did not make the Legend of Link. Look for Danny Sammons Jr.'s page. He's the director.

  • can you make a cloud sword ??

  • LOL, that would require a LOT of metal.

  • I am going to try and be a knight there

  • man that must have been awesome. what did you do there

  • i did weapon maitnence at first then i moved to sales i never got to do the knight stuff

  • I started doing this man, and it's working out awesome. You ever been to medieval times show? I am making a sword from there

  • sweet i have been there i got a summer job there once

  • That's the best idea ever

  • how thick was the alluminum plate?

  • 1/8 of an inch thick

  • Now I can finally make Zar'rock and a master sword...

  • awesome vid, can't wait to try

  • NEATO! Swords are cool. I'm glad you didn't make a REAL sword, because, well, no one wants to get killed, do they?

  • nice.

  • Have you been able to make a katana / samurai sword using this method? Thanks for the tutorial. Pay no attention to the haters.

  • The Sword I showed at the beginning, "Solitaire" is pretty close to a Katana.

  • thats pretty ill

  • This is the most pathetic thing i've seen in a while. I was waiting for this kid to cut his hand the whole time. This isn't sword making, its toy making retard.

Ps; nice touch with the music in the background. Do you feel better now that everyone knows what shitty music you listen to?

  • Yeah, I made a prop sword. I don't make real ones, you got a problem with that? And as for the music comment, I really don't care. If you don't like it, then put it on mute. You came here to watch a video, so shut your trap.

  • bitchass, I'd slap the shit out of you in real life. Go LARP you fucking queer.

  • obviously he's not makin a REAL sword. its right there in the description he's making PROP swords. the guy even explained that it's the same way used to make the sword for that Zelda cosplay directly in the beginning.

  • the metal part that is inserted into the handle is called the tang. cool vid.

  • Could you please type up the measurements of the sword you made in the tutorial? It would be much aprecciated.

  • would a yard stick work?because i dont think my grandpa isnt gonna buy a peace of steel or alluminum

  • It could. It'd just be extremley breakable. And You'd have to paint it silver.

  • Not only do safety goggles look cool, but they are an important part of shop safety.

I like how you can polish the blade like that. I had no idea you could polish aluminum to a mirror finish. Cool vid! :)

  • hilt, not handle. Otherwise, kickass vid man.

I used to try to make swords.(sucked at it and never really tried, just said i would) This might make me try it out again.

  • Sorry, I thought the hand gaurd was called the hilt at the time, my bad.

  • try useing gloves and clamps, ithought you were gona cut ur hand off the whole time scary to watch.

  • cool !

  • ...

  • Nice, Ryu-Gi
