Translation is never accurate often cultural insults in Japanese cannot be considered offensive to western ears so often the translator will use a well known Western swear like "son of a bitch" even if that's not what was said simply because we could not relate to the cultural differences in offensivness.

The fact of the matter is that anyone making a translation puts their own individual interpretations on meanings, and some translators flat out exaggerate. I've seen many anime with translations that really exaggerate or flat-out ADD IN profanity to make it sound tougher when the original Japanese isn't nearly as "extreme".

And as for professional translators, the number of fans who are likely are few and far between.

@FenrirEX I never saw them as bad as official translations. The officials completely change the meaning of things a lot of times. This game is a prime example of that. They were afraid of having the world Holy in the game and changed it to Pearl. Same thing with that son of submariner. And my favorite movie Nausicaa of the valley of the Wind is an even better example of it. It was changed from a pacifist, economical theme to a war theme.
