  • I had a hard time finding this again... Thanks for posting!!!

  • "Call me Willy Whistle cause I can't speak baby, something in your eyes went and drove me crazy" genius lines from legendary group, LFO.

  • the clown, the clown´s name, the clown´s squeeky voice....the whole thing is sooo creepy on so many levels

  • I remember during commercial breaks while watching Star Blazers, Willie holding up drawings of the Argo that kids sent in. I would love to see some of those drawings that we did of that great ship!

  • We have complete shows of Willie Whistle from WSBK in Boston but we have yet to find it . When we do find it I will post it. None of the tapes given to us are labeled, just got a list saying what was on them.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES I can't wait until you find them. I was on one of his shows and would love to get a hold of that footage if it still exists.

  • @lisajbush I have found Boston tapes but I'm working full time and it's tough to find time to post videos. None of the tapes given to me have any kind of labels on them so it's very time consuming . I will keep trying to find them.

  • OMG!! Willie Whistle is so old school... TV 38 in Boston. I remember him around 78- early 80s hosting cartoons like Deputy Dawg and the Great Space Coaster. Come back, Willie. Kid shows nowadays are GARBAGE.

  • OH My God! That damn, snake is getting a little too nosey for her

    own good.Poor"Willie".

  • willie whistle was a quite guy that spent all his free time making charity appearances. i met him in the early 80's at the topsfield fair. i was introduced to him by a mutual friend and we chatted for a bit. i promised to never divulge his name or true identity. he never wanted fame or fortune, just to do right by sick children. i got the impression that he didnt care for jerry lewis either...

  • willie used to freak me out , growing up in new england i grew up with this guy on tv all the time back in the day. lol thanks for the post

  • Did you see the one where Dick Clark showed this on Bloopers? It actually showed the whole footage and it was even funnier than this.

  • I was on Willie's last week of shows on 38 and it was great fun! We need this type of show back.

  • There has got to be, and I mean got to me more Willie Whistle videos lying around somewhere waiting to be posted on here! If you have 'em, please for the love of God, POST THEM!!!

  • This is great! My Dad worked for WSBK and I was a guest on the Willie Wistle Show when I was 5 yrs old. I'll have to put the video on youtube sometime.

  • Id like to see it!

  • @intromix Yes I would like to see this as well!

  • PLEASE DO!!!! Get some video.

  • @stagedance same here...I grew up with Willie Whistle...

  • That was deeply sick.

  • My mother took me to see my hero Rex Trailer as a little kid. Rex landed in a Hellicopter with Willie Wistle also.

I was so scared of that punk willie wistle that I didnt get to meet Rex.

  • I used to love the chemistry between the announcer Dana Hersey and Willie, especially when they did "The House the Jack Built".

  • Willie, she's clearly a lesbian.

Any interest in your snake is purely her being polite.

  • Ah HAHAHA! I grew up with him!!! YAAAY YouTube

  • Anyone remember the Willie Whistle Christmas Special in which he and some boy try to search for what Christmas was all about? It ended up with Willie and this boy in a manger (I swear to god I am not making this up).

  • Thats funny!! I would love to see that one

  • Funny enough, Willie Whistle once made an appearence at the Milton's Women's Club one Saturday morning. I lived across the street and I literally woke up to the sound of a whistling sound. My brother told me that Willie Whistle was waving to to the cars going by and my brother and I ended up throwing eggs over our fence in Willie's direction. This must have been around 1982.

  • Hey, I do remember willie whistle. My favorite part is when he and Mr. Houdini would get giggling hysterically.

  • Willie Whistle didn't work with Mr. Whodini.

    Bozo did.

  • Right. Got 'em confused. But Willie Whistle DID have a sidekick, didn't he?

  • I don't remember if Willie Whistle had a sidekick or not. You could check Wikipedia.

  • He had the invisible announcer talking to him, it was usually Dana Hersey from TV-38.

  • I'm still looking for shows with him. I have so many tapes I have to look at.

  • Please find and post them.

  • Can Andy Do It? Did you know you could win a walk-on role in a Movie just for adding friends?

  • Wow. I totally forgot about Willie! Thanks!

  • Unbelievable! Willie freakin Whistle.

His voice is even more high pitched than I remember.

Youtube just continues to amaze me.

  • OK, we're out in 5, 4, 3, 2...Clear.

    We're off the air?

    Yeah Willie, we're off.

THEN GET THIS FUCKING SNAKE OUT MY FUCKING PANTS, GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!!

  • Freaking Willie Whistle haunted me at every event or venue that involved any kids using wheelchairs.

We really wanted to run ole Willie Whistle down let me tell ya.

On this clown's side though- Willie Whistle was at least much nicer to us than a certain chrome plated asshole named Jerry Lewis.

At least Willie Whistle didn't chain smoke right next to us 'handicapped kids' during staged photo shoots.

Willie W never acted like any overbearing asshole to me and my peers and I'll give em that.

  • Thats funny (Jerry the asshole)!! But seriously that's cool you got to actually see Willie in person when he was around

  • i got to see Whilly Whistle at each an every event for non profit orgs for families dealing with disabilities from holidays to the opening of an envelope from 1975 to around 1982.

WW was good about though. Wasn't ever intrusive, didn't act like Krusty the klown.

  • @charmedcripchic THAT IS SO TRUE.eVERYTIME i WENT TO KIDS DAY IN BOSTON He was always taking a picture with someone in a wheelchair. He was kind of an ugly guy too. When did you see him last?

  • i Remember willie whistle I met him when I went to learning prep school in newton mass in early 80s He Visit the school once a year when we had a fair at the school gym

we waited in line to shake his hand.

  • Clowns are scary enough without sounding like frightened mice! I saw this show ONCE when I was a kid, and it gave me the creeps for decades!

  • 3 reason why Willie the Clown always did, and still does, sketch me out:

    1. The swazzle (the world's only illegal musical instrument that gives him his scary squeaky coice)

    2. I met him in person once and he smelled like a rubber glove factory

    3. Um, is that a snake in your pants, or are you just excited to be around small children?

(I'm not even gonna mention what his name is slang for.)

Ah, to be a kid again...

  • Yo I met Willie at the scooper bowl in 81.he was kind of weird but uncle dale was the real creep!

  • he used to scare the sh*t out of me

  • I always wondered how he got that squeaky voice. Now I know. I guess gerbils are not the only ones that get all of the action.

  • Yes.. I remember watching him on 38.. Hated him even as a kid.. that voice.. so irritating

  • I can just barley remember willie wistle. I use to watch it when I was like 4 or 5. I'd love it if they brought back his old shows

  • OMG!! Love Willie Whistle from TV38 Boston.. he used to show Deputy Dawg and the Great Space Coaster. That was about 1978-82, even before and after that. God Bless you Willie. that laugh of his is hilarious. LOL :P

  • The palomino's name was/is Gold Rush in Connection with Rex Trailer he's had 4 horses to date.Next in connection to Willie,Rex,and Sgt.Billy these Rex & Willie did a muscular dystrophy ad in 1978 in which Rex said to adress them to Rex Trailer, then Willie said "Willie Whistle!"then Rex said "All right that's Rex Trailer or Willie Whistle"Then in the next ad Rex,Sgt.Billy, and Willie Whistle aked if they got any mail and Wille "Said no it's all for me."Then Rex asked"Let me see." Then sorted it

  • My god... I remember when that happend ! They used to do this show live so Willie Whistle's snake problem got transmitted out to millions of homes where us innocent children were watching in sheer horror ! Yes. Willie Whistle creeped me out then.. and to this day, I still have nightmares about him. I wonder what he's doing now ?

  • Oh please, I watched this scene myself as a kid and I was rolling on the floor laughing. To this day it is still halarious :D

  • Gives new meaning to the phrase "Trouser snake"

  • Yes Willie Whistle,Rex Trailer, and Major Mudd along with The Ch.5 Bozo played by Frank Avruch are great kids entertainers of whom I can always count for being reminiscent and nostalgic when I may need to pass the time to do so for going down Memory Lane.

  • Talk about a trip down memory lane! I LOVED Major Mudd(I'll be blasting you!)

I always wanted to be on Rex Trailers "Boomtown"-Loved that Palomino too-was it's name Silver?

I also remember an Uncle Gus-but he was out of New Hampshire-and he could only come in to my TV if it wasn't cloudy/rainy and the Foil and the bent hangers were "just so" on my black & white TV Rabbit ears-LOL

Yeah, I remember having to wait for the TV to warm up too;-)

  • No The Palomino's name is Gold Rush.

  • You are right!

They say the memory is the first thing to go...I am in trouble now!;-)

  • Wow! The name Dale Dorman sure rings a bell. I believe he was fairly young, on the heavy side, and had really long hair. Was he a radio personality in Boston?

  • When I met him (in 1981) he was on KISS-108

  • Dale Dorman is still working in Radio. He now works at 103.3 FM WODS. He is on in the morning and you can listen to him online.

  • I use to love to watch Willie, especially to annoy the babysitter. I would the imitate his voice in a language I called Yee. The best clown ever, long live Willie Whistle. Wasn't he on Dale Dorman on channel 56?

  • While Willie Whistle was on TV-38 It was on Ch.56 that Dale Dorman was it on later on that Dale Dorman was on Kiss 108 FM and then later he was Oldies 103.3 as well as now so as we all can plainly see Dale has really gotten around a whole lot to date as well as beyond many people's expectations.

  • Unfortuneatley?

The damn horney snake gets a little too

noisey for it's own good. God Help Poor"Willie Whistle"(Mr.Beach!)

  • The only clown I actually liked.

  • when I was on a grade school feild trip in Boston. My class got to meet Willie whistle at some kind of Dairy festival, it was really big deal to me, because he the tv personality I've in person. breaks my to hear he's passed on. God bless him, he entertained alot kids and quite a few adults.

  • MEMORIES!

  • Willie was played by Davis G. Droll, and he passed away at 75 in October '07.

    RIP Willie!

  • I was reading an article that said he was played by the program director of WSBK named Dick Beech

  • I did read that too, but when I read about Droll, it seemed credible.

    Hmmmmmm.

  • Well, THAT'S THE INTERNET!!!!

  • From what I understand WSBK in Boston didn't archive much of the old programs. The only archives might be from people who recorded the shows with a vcr. I have a few on my youtube account .

  • can you post a link where i can see some of these videos, I was on this show as a child and would like to see if you have this.

  • omg! Now why I know why I don't like clowns! I used to watch willie whistle with the volume off because I couldn't stand that sound! He is like a human equivelant of nails on a chalk board

  • Boy does this take me back. I could never understand anything Willie said. Even today.

  • YES ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH !

my friends and I that remember willie have been looking for footage for awhile,.

info on the web about him is scarce too,

but if he was really the program director for channel 38, I can see why.

  • No problem thanks for watching!

  • Thanks so much for putting this up, have been waiting awhile to see this again. This guy is a trip! Even as a kid it was a little weird ha!

  • interesting, do you know how he did the voice?

  • Willie's voice was made by carefully holding a small bird whistle or tweeder in his mouth, between his teeth and inner cheek, and slowly exhaling when he spoke which created that funny tweetie or whistling sound in his speech.

  • Willie was a clown in the local Boston market for WSBK-TV during the late seventies and early to mid-eigthies. He was among the last locally produced kid show host in the area.

  • late 60's to mid 80's actually

and his name was Willie Whistle, not Willie The Clown. He was actually portrayed by then Program Director for WSBK

  • Thanks for the info!

  • That's right. My brother and I used to watch him around 1968.
