Something is sorely lacking south (outside the plant) when before this they were/are called rotten names and accused of wrong. That goes on for a decade(s) by society and acting out occurs. Some workers are either working long hours or there are stresses at home, and yes even some people work better with a little substance help. I know I've seen it so why do these stupid people report it don't they have something better to report on....To most this is common knowledge that this happens always in the auto industry!!!!!!!

Any one who has worked or has been in a UAW or CAW plant knows that there are a small percentage who do this. The real problem is the union who protect the minority who bring down the majority. You can tell that most comments are from unionized workers. It is a fact that this type of behavior is not tolerated in non union plants. The top level management who ratify contracts are also to blame. It is too bad that Fox did not focus on these facts rather than the sensationalism they are known for
After leaving the Navy after Nam my husband went to work for Electro-Motive Div. of General Motors....4 thousand people per shift & the plant went 24/7. My husband told me that the minute you walked through the door you'd get high from the pot being smoked in the place. Management & the union knew what was happening & turned a blind eye to it. This goes to prove that the only thing that changes is the date on the calendar. Where's the random drug testing in all this?

That's the union all right. I was UAW and then Teamsters back in the late 60's - early 70's. No different then and no different now. When I finally woke up and 'smelt the coffee brewing', I quit and joined the military. After serving my country I went company all the way and have been on salary ever since. This is nothing new. I drive tractor trailer, get to many plants. It happens all over North America, probably the world. I have no doubt these guys are drinking before and after their shifts. Wanna shut them down, set up a ride program right in front of the entrance to this park at about 8 minutes before their shift is to resume. They is screwed either way then, no work or ride program on working hours. Cruel choice but I have seen this done before.

Any one who has worked or has been in a UAW or CAW plant knows that there are a small percentage who do this. The real problem is the union who protect the minority who bring down the majority. You can tell that most comments are from unionized workers. It is a fact that this type of behavior is not tolerated in non union plants. The top level management who ratify contracts are also to blame. It is too bad that Fox did not focus on these facts rather than the sensationalism they are known for

After leaving the Navy after Nam my husband went to work for Electro-Motive Div. of General Motors....4 thousand people per shift & the plant went 24/7. My husband told me that the minute you walked through the door you'd get high from the pot being smoked in the place. Management & the union knew what was happening & turned a blind eye to it. This goes to prove that the only thing that changes is the date on the calendar. Where's the random drug testing in all this?

That's the union all right. I was UAW and then Teamsters back in the late 60's - early 70's. No different then and no different now. When I finally woke up and 'smelt the coffee brewing', I quit and joined the military. After serving my country I went company all the way and have been on salary ever since. I wouldn't want to go back to union/Archie Bunker type environment if I could avoid it. Unions are the second worst cause of ruin in this once great country of ours. I weep for America!

This is nothing new. I drive tractor trailer, get to many plants. It happens all over North America, probably the world. I have no doubt these guys are drinking before and after their shifts. Wanna shut them down, set up a ride program right in front of the entrance to this park at about 8 minutes before their shift is to resume. They is screwed either way then, no work or ride program on working hours. Cruel choice but I have seen this done before.

This shit happens in practically every factory in north america, politicising it by targeting chrysler specifically and making it about taxes is just disingenous.
It also smacks of going after the little guy.
factories aren't fun places to work, they grind you down mentally and physically, and some workers either find away to break the tedium or go slowly insane.
Like it or not, something you own was made by someone who wasn't entirely sober.

First off let me say that I work at Chrysler, and I can tell you that this is NOT typical of the vast majority of workers. Please don't let this piece of filtered media cause you to paint all of us with the same brush. Secondly, I don't like this female's (being nice here) snide and condescending attitude at all. Get the WHOLE story, not just the part that makes a "good story" . By the way, if the bailout didn't happen, you'd REALLY see what a recession really is.

@kvtar I agree with you on this. This is not the hundreds of hard dedicated workers that Chrysler has. Please don't paint everyone witht he same brush (I know that feeling). As for this reporter he did a good job in his investigation, but the female was just down right grand standing
