  • that was gangster

  • that was some gangster shit

  • Is Ubuntu nice? Because I want to apply them on my netbook and I don't know if its a nice system.

  • MY ubuto doest boot when i restart my computer wtf is going on ! it boots my orginal windows but the ones i have downloaded it doest does anyone know what could be wrong answer plss.

  • This is great, but how do I get my Network Adapter running to get online? I did that Administration=>Hardware Drivers. No luck. connectivity. This IS a terrific vid though, Tim. Thanks and Mahalo !

  • You should make another video telling how to add necessary applications and drivers.

  • a many of thanks for you and your 3 part video!! I doubt after 2 days of searching through google searches to find an answer. This 3 part video series did the trick......still installing. I was curious as to WHY some say to mount a system FAT32 so you can access files in windows? I've have installed XP home edition on an HP Pavilion zv6000. why do they suggest MOUNT a FAT32?

  • thanks great help....i subed..yo all should

  • Excellent video..

you should keep posting this kind of teaching stuffs about ubuntu for newbies.

    Thanks for the video.

And what about your review for 9.10?

  • Great videos, I used them to install 9.10 and it worked perfect besides a few options had different names.

    Thanks

    5 stars

  • Thanks Tim! I was very coinfused abt installing Ubuntu, but u did a great job man! I really appreciate your effort!

I have a couple of queries?

Is it necessary to instal some kind of antivirus for ubuntu?

Can we also instal windows software in it?

Now i have 1TB of hard disk, do u suggest me to boot it with window or I shuld go to market, buy a new smaller one,and install Ubuntu on it and then plug both the hard disks on my computer?wat u suggest?

  • Nope, no antivirus is necessary for ubuntu. Installing windows software is not going to work with ubuntu, you will either need to use the open source alternative or virtualize it in a virtual machine running windows. Um, the hard disk is up to you, you can either partition off your 1tb or go buy a new small one, its up to you.

  • ok thanks.

and again, I appreciat your work! Thanks alot! Hope that ubuntu will work with me as friendly OS.

    Regards!

  • @cryblood3 when i click on hardware drivers it says "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system" is this a problem?

  • Hey cryblood how come you said u need to have it to say _tim or something like that because im installing tomoz when i download it and i was just cunfuzed when u said it thats all.

  • hey man, i followed your video, and everything worked great untill i went to hardware drivers. there is no video card settings there, but when i go to change the visual effects from NONE to EXTRA, it says "desktop effects could not be enabled". any ideas?

  • hmm...look for your drivers on the web for your specific card for ubuntu? its my only idear if its not popping up under the hardware drivers...

  • yeah thanks, i spend a while working on it and eventually figured it out. but i ended up removing ubuntu, its just a little too complicated.

  • very nice and simple instructions THANKS!!

  • thanks a lot!

  • thanks a lot bro !

i couldnt do it by myself , but im runing "not instaled version " and installing right now , its on 82 percent right now

    really helpfull

  • I want to triple boot xp home, xp pro and ubuntu 9.04, but how do i detect my graphics card in xp pro?

  • Does UBUNTU work on any laptop... cuz i am planning to install complete UBUNTU on it without any microsoft products. does it have any virus problems like microsoft?

  • 1st question: most likely.2nd question: theres Barely any viruses for ubuntu and other linux distrubutions.

  • thats awesome...

  • dude you known you can just use wubi

  • yea that is true...but wubi does not allow full hdd speed or as good as performance as a real install...also if you upgrade distros it can mess stuff up

  • by far the best guide, thanks alot

  • one of the most informative how to vids on the topic i have seen, and i watched a bunch today.

    Thanks man

  • how do you get the desktop cube?

  • wow bro thank you so fucking much your the best bro.

  • thanks for your time and for your tutorials ...

  • Thank you for showing me how to install ubuntu. But how do I get Windows XP to load as default and ubuntu as an option?

    Thanks in advance.

  • just wana say, thanks dude

  • It doesnt find my grpahics card...

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

  • dosent find it? strange, a few things to try:

    1. check your hardware drivers and see if it shows up there

    2. try taking it out and putting it back in (when the comp is off lol)

    3. google ur card with ubuntu and see what comes up

  • My driver is Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

I looked it up on google and say a few forums with people having problems as well, but their is no solution..

Thanks for the help and great video, thanks to you I'm running ubuntu for the first time!

  • hmm, that sucks, sorry for the driver prob...well if you really want you could always get a discrete graphics card (i am guessing the one you mentioned is integrated) as long as it is a desktop you could always toss in a new card and use that instead...just a thought if you really want to use ubuntu w/ good graphics

  • very good guide.

little question, are windows application compatible with ubuntu?.. what about driver for usb wireless internet adaptor? and movie codecs ? Please awnser.

    Thanks

  • Win apps: win apps are currently in the very alpha stages of being emulated in ubuntu, however, you can usually find many very good free software for ubuntu that is very easy to install through add/remove programs

usb wireless internet adaptor: uhhh, mostlikely it should just work, i am not sure, nver used one

movie codecs: codecs can usually be found in the add/remove progs section

    any ways, hope that helps

  • Not bad, not bad at all! I've been looking for a guide that is of this quality! No slam, my man, but you're pretty mature, and pretty knowledgeable for your age. I like your modesty, and humbleness. You're a great teacher!
