Thanks for your prayers Laconan. There are a lot of desperate people here so I think you're right that many steal because they have to. However, there certainly are some who enjoy it. My house was 'robbed' in 2004. I and both my parents were shot and my father and brother were badly beaten. They laughed and swore at us as we turned the carpets red and gasped for air through our ruptured lungs. They took little of value. Crimes just as heinous and brutal are directed against black people too.

I've been robbed 5 times in only a 3 year period of time, and I stay in the suburbs. More than 3 quarters of my friends have also been robbed by gun point or houses broken into. I'm just glad that more people are becoming aware of how bad things are here in SA. The main stream media never commented much on the problems we had here after 1994. Viva (translate to "freedom in") the internet! But how are we going to change something bad if we don't even acknowledge it? Crime is really, really bad here and I fear for my life every single day. When going to the shop to buy groceries I worry if this is going to be the day that I will be raped or worse, murdered.

Under british law at the time, it was not allowed to claim land, on the basis the native people had provided the land as a base for their civilisation, on the grounds that a settling of a people can be seen. At the time when they arrived, the natives moved from location to location, not specifically assinging one area of concentration, as per a city for example, on this basis. There was no deemed invasion or theft of land, as there appeared to be no occupier. Read it up.

I said the land was theres to move where they wanted to, because this is what tribes in Africa did and still do, they are usually nomadic and move from one area to the next once land becomes depleted giving it time to heal before they move back. When the Europeans came to the area they assumed wrongfully that the land belonged to no one, but it was not up to them to make that decision at all.
