I'm so glad I found this. No way could I afford to go out and buy all the really nice glimmer mists. I already have an assortment of different metallic folk art paints and mod podge. I'm going to make my own. Thanks so much. :)
I have been trying to make this and I have the aqua cool already as well as another pearl acrylic paint, but I wanted to use regular paint with a pearl paint and I keep "clogging" my bottle up. I maybe using too much color. I am still "experimenting" with it to try and get it to work. I want to use a sparkle glaze and regular colored paint as well. TFS.
@cardmaker007 I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed this video! Thank-you for your very lovely comment! I will be posting some Halloween projects very soon! Stay tuned!
I tried and it worked great. Bought the spray bottle from Walmart & I was able to create variety of colors from your idea. Love it! Thanks for the tip!
@cardmaker007 I am so happy that it worked for you! I am very happy with the homemade product! I think it works way better the store bought brands. In fact....I am going to give away the story bought one!
I have not used any paints as yet. Can I use fabric paint? Also, I didn't think that last white mist you used was with pearl-ex. What kind of paint did you use?
hmm I wondere if you can use the paint with alchol and hairspray technique i have seen others do but with reinkers and not paint..i'll have to try this. thanks!
oh what kind of paint did u use to get the pearl finish on the last one?
@Luvleescrappin Thanks so much for watching and commenting! This is a great recipe! I find it works very well for me! Let me know what you think of it once you try it!
@scrapeahappy I tried it and LOVE it!!!! I can't stop making them LOL I have so many acrylic paints hahaha...I need more spray bottles now.
I wonder if you can use rubbing alcohol instead of water to help it dry faster??? I know some use it with re-inkers and alcohol inks...but what about with acrylic paints hmmmm??? Let me know if you tried it. Thanks again for sharing!!!
Ok I found out what Pearl ex is... AND i made it to Micheals this afternoon for my paints and spray bottles and what a great turn out! Goodbye paying ridiculous prices for the name brand! THANKYOU for sharing!
I'm just curious, why use the Mod Podge? Does it add body or bulk or...??? I wonder if diluted Elmer's Glue would work just as well? Anyway, thanks for the demo, I have a
boat-load of Perfect Pearls just gathering dust because they didn't work worth a hoot for me, so I'm definitely going to try this.
Wonderful! Awhile back I tried mixing water and pearl ex in a Tim Holtz mini mister!!! Big mistake! It clogged so badly, I destroyed the spray bottle. :~( Glad to see you are having better luck with paint and a somewhat larger mister.
@corigarcia08 Modge Podge can be used for Decoupage. It works great for sealing an album you might make! But you just have to take your time and have a little at a time so the paper doesn't buckle! you could also use it for any type of paper collage.
This is awesome...thank you so much for sharing! I LOVE the difference in the way the color looks after spraying without the pearl x.....gives it some texture! Very pretty!
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! I am very happy to read that you have had some great success with this! I know I am really enjoying my home made product too!
@PrincessColetti I am so happy to read that you find this useful! You won't be disappointed. I was very hapy with the results! Others have shared that it is working very well for them too!
@scrapeahappy Wow my comment actually worked I've been having such a hard time getting my comments to post on you tube I don't know what is going on. I did give this a try I didn't have all the exact products that you used but I thought I would test it out anyway, It did shimmer for sure, It was little bit too watery but I'm going to try it again. Thanks again :)
I wish I would have seen your video sooner. I just purchased 10 bottles of glimmer mist. I have quite abit of paint. Anyway thank you for your video. I will now be making my own glimmer mist. Your video was very helpful.
thanks for posting this video. I can't justify spending $8.95 for one little bottle, but this is way cheaper and I have some of these paints already. thanks!
@vakev8 Thank-you so much for the comments! Yes, I was also suprised at how much reinkers were. I would rather save those for my ink pads. This method worked fantastically! My favourite so far is the pearl coloured one. So pretty on papers!

Why do you put mod podge in it?
skiigal1 10 months ago
@skiigal1 The Modge Podge is used to allow the pearl ex to bond with the surface.
