Who Did it Better , NOBODY . A brothers , brother .. Unadulterated soul, PURE SOUL . Wilson Pickett will always be considered one of the greatest SOUL SINGERS of all time .
@franz909 I have to agree with you. Although I had enjoyed some R&B and soul earlier I really got into it during my sophomore year at college, 1967-68. I loved Rufus Thomas, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding but my favorite was the WICKED Mr Pickett!
Pickett died from a heart attack on January 19, 2006 in Reston, Virginia. He was aged 64.[10] He was buried in Louisville, Kentucky. The eulogy was delivered by Pastor Steve Owens of Decatur, Georgia. Little Richard, a long-time friend of Pickett's, spoke about him and preached briefly at the funeral.
What I like about this video is that it was a black and white crowd that was able to enjoy this concert/dance; which was rare at the time. Even though blacks and whites shared musical interest; the venues were either whites only or blacks only. I do NOT miss those old days.
I'm a honky nerdy dude and I looove this!
Hope Mr. Pickett himself wont look down on me for digging this ;)

Unreal. This is soul music at its total and absolute best. That band is fantastic and Wilson keeps the tension sooo tight!.
I love the way the cameraman suddenly goes to the girls legs when Wilson is hugging her !

That was fun, it reminded me of the Toga Party Scene from Animal House

Outa sight - Uptight! The performance represents the best of the R&B music which I was priviledged enough to experience in my youth - fantastic!
