Yes that is the reason! I think the Family Feud worked well, with Richard Dawson and his personality, IMHO!

@JPPT1974 And according to BTR, he also couldn't host the Feud because he thought the format would be too similar to "The Neighbors" (that crappy 1975 ABC show with Regis as host). And I'm sure he still regrets it... BIG TIME.
