  • Thank You so much...very easy and it's soooo beautiful!!!!

You are an artist, I'll give a try for sure

    Love and Light

  • WE EAT MEAT SOME TIME SO WE GET PROTEIN ,BUT FOR VEGETARIANS QUINOA IS A MUST -WE WILL TRY IT ANY WAY--LOVE TO TASTE DIFFERENT FOODS....THANK FOR POSTING ALL YOUR FAST MADE MEALS THEY ARE GOOD...

  • I MADE IT BUT I USE MIXED BROWN RICE AND BEANS--THE QUINOA WAS $ 4.99 FOR 12OZ I JUST DID NOT SEE WORTH IN IT,,,,IT CAME OUT GREAT...

  • Quinoa will taste very bitter if not rinsed well. It has a natural coating on it that needs to be removed. Rinse it well under cold water in a sieve, drain, then cook it. Some companies do pre-rinse the stuff. But trust me, if you cook the stuff with the coating on it, you'll be sorry.

  • Chef Buck kicks a fair amount of ass!

    Love this stuff

  • Beautiful! I want to eat the same dinner for a week and would like this to be my side dish should this be reheated ( due to the tomatoes in it?) at room temp or should i just make it everyday?

  • @chinewmarie

I've never reheated it. It's warm when it's first prepared and eaten--which is delicious--but it's just as tasty right out of the fridge, I think. Leftovers of this dish don't last too long around our house.

  • @FromUnderTheRock okay I don't think it's going to last in mine either! thanks anywho...

  • That looks gorgeous yum mm, would u marry me? LOL

  • You are too cool for me, man!

  • This guys voice sounds gansta, nice!!

  • the quinua is un alimento de sud america, muy nutritivo esta muy rico en sopas hervidas y echarle queso fresco que se derrita al horno con carne picada etc la gran maravilla de los incas un saludo. ;)

  • You've opened my eyes once again. Looks delish.

  • that looks great, thanks for sharing !

  • Thanks for keeping it real. Enjoyed your video. Cant wait to try it!

  • I love the enthusiasm you have in your videos!

Excellent dish, thank you for sharing!

  • What a wonderful and beautiful salad this is! LOVE LOVE LOVE. Can I add some fruit to it as well? Thank you for this great video. I think I will cook mine in chicken broth instead of plain water. ALSO, how long will this last in the fridge? Thanks.

  • @nemoryer thanks. I've never tried fruit with quinoa, but I think it's a good idea. I wouldn't add it to this salad because I think it'd clash with the onions and garlic, and I don't like my main meal too sweet. Adding quinoa to a fruit salad sounds like a tasty idea; quinoa has a slight "nuttiness" to the flavor and I think it would work nicely. I doubt we've had this particular dish in the fridge more than a couple of days, it's super tasty even cold, so we eat it up pretty quick.

  • Quinoa is an Incan super food/protein originated from PERU, highly regarded in that culture for its nutritional benefits. Just a quick fact, Thanks :)

  • @KOSMOS390

Native Americans pride! and the Asian always boast about their rice and say "Got Rice Bitch?"

  • Whenever i run across a food that i cant pronounce , it really makes me want to eat it ./ fun fact 47

  • @jknocal

  • Going shopping tomorrow! Nice presentation Buck!

  • A southpark reference . Sweet Gingers do have souls . LOL

  • Excellent!

  • It looks like rice, it cooks like rice... Does it *taste* like rice too? You got me REAL curious about this. I'm thinking some raw broccoli tops chopped up too.. I love raw broccoli. Let me know.. just so happens we're grocery shopping tomorrow night. :-)

  • @sheri226

it doesn't taste like rice, but like rice it's subtle, so it can work with a lot of different foods and not overpower them; it's more flavorful than rice, I always say it's "nutty", although I hate to say that because it really doesn't taste like nuts. Raw broccoli w/ quinoa sounds like a winner...I've mixed steamed broccoli and quinoa as a side dish and love it.

  • I like to call it "Quinn-oh-ah" just to irritate the hippies. And I for one am not opposed to getting a big chunk of garlic.

  • @carlblemming

one's love of garlic is proportional to one's enlightenment (I might have plagiarized this from a fortune cookie)

  • "van Gogh would eat this." You mean, when he was at the insane asylum?

You know this Quinoa is "closely related" to tumbleweed. And beats.

The DREWnetwork is always interested in sources of protein. I'm willing to give this a try, but the question is -- can I get it at the local Food Lion? Or, do I need to drive fifteen minutes to the hippie co-op? I really hate driving fifteen minutes. Also, our local hippies are arrogant and unpleasant -- they shout at me to "love not hate!"

  • @drewnetwork

I'd be surprised if the Food Lion didn't have quinoa--you might have to ask where its located (I suspect it will be in the organic foo-foo section). The box of quinoa in this video is from a local Publix supermarket. I don't usually buy quinoa in the box, but I thought it'd make a better visual than the planters peanut container I store my bulk quinoa inside. Most upscale or "healthy" markets with bulk foods will have quinoa, whether they're targeting hippies or yuppies or both.

  • @drewnetwork

also...you should love not hate, although no one should shout this at you.

  • Mmm, I want some of that. :)

  • We eat quinoa here on a regular basis, as a protein substitute I guess. I didn't think anyone else ate the stuff. I didn't know it was a seed, and I've eaten a ton of the stuff.

Like the dish though, very colorful.

  • @kookiemoose

this is probably my favorite way to eat quinoa...it's a seed and can be sprouted in the same manner as mung beans, although I haven't tried sprouting them myself.

  • excellent video,,,thanks

  • Looks good thanks for sharing honey

  • wow, it looks so good my mouth is watering! .. =D

  • @oopspaw

looks better than durian, doesn't it? (I heard someone talking about durian the other day and thought of you)

  • Looks super-duper ! Do you remeber the name of that chef that used to be on TV along time ago the one from New Orleans cuz every time you do a cooking video he pops in my head and it's driving me crazy that I don't know his name ! He always said uuuuwwweee that's good...you now who I mean ?

  • @alonealotta

New Orleans chefs that automatically pop into my head are Emeril Lagasse and Paul Prudhomme...but I bet you're talkin' about Justin Wilson.

  • @FromUnderTheRock Doesn't ring a bell he was like 70 in the early 80's...well he was great fun to watch...THNX=)

  • That looks surprisingly delicious. Definitely going to head to the hippy store to try to find some.

Is the vinegar more for flavor or to make it "sticky", like sushi rice? Could this serve as a substitute for rice in sushi, or would that just be blasphemous?

  • @TeeAreify

it's a refreshing dish and I always feel like I'm doing my body a favor when I have it. The vinegar is definitely for flavor--I usually use apple cider vinegar because I find it pretty tasty, but rice vinegar would work nicely as well. I don't think quinoa would make a great sushi ingredient--it's similiar to rice, but the consistency doesn't strike me as sushi material. Quinoa has a slight nutty taste. It's a great side with grilled vegetables and I often serve it with salmon
