Gluttonous excess? Absolutely. Likely most of these people made their money honestly. They sold a product or produced a service that many, many people willingly purchased. (unless they were gov't workers, then many people would have been forced to purchase their services). They took that money and did what they wanted with it.
They purchased what they wanted, like the people that gave them all this money they used to build these villages. The money they used to build these gluttonous house is no longer their, other people got it for materials and building services. I am glad they shared their wealth, instead of hoarding it.
Didn't your Mother ever tell you not to bite the hand that feeds you? I own a house in Mountain Village...paid cash and I can also tell you this...I have given more money to charities than you people combined will earn in a lifetime! I can't wait to sell my house and get away from you pot smoking, heroine shooting, ungrateful, bitter, uneducated, liberal piles of dung! I'll be sure to wave to you from my jet when I leave!
@generousgift Bear in mind that whoever made this video could have any number of reasons for making it, but it seems well funded. I definitely don't think this was made by people who have benefited by having economy brought to our town.
@carolm62 Really? "Class envy?" I thought it made a pretty clear (and accurate) statement about the Mountain Village lifestyle. And I really don't think professor Davis suffers from "class envy." ;)
Hilarious. The few negative comments must be people with the real estate industry that was foisting the idea that this opulent consumption was actually good. Anyway, if someone has so little sense of humor that they don't get this, too bad for them!
Gem of a little film that wonderfully captures the style of a PBS documentary. And a great testament to the spirit of Telluride, especially since it's done with no commercial payback in mind. Kudos to everyone who worked on it!

Once upon a time, they paid for your "lifestyle". Last time I checked, they had a new slave class.

Ha!!!! So true. But they do pay for our lifestyle when we clean their toilets.

Hilarious! Could have been better with a little less emphasis on the class envy angle, which got less funny, but nevertheless pretty dang great! :-)
