  • dishwasher becomes washing machine. Anyone notice? that is david lynch.

  • oooh this was a good one.

  • i think when it comes to this, their is no meaning to it. sony hired him to make something weird, so he did, they loved it because they thought it had some unique weird quality message behind it and he laughed all the way to the bank...pretty genius if you ask me.

  • @zheffner666 The dog's dreaming. the third eye is what is spoken of, in the brain, relating to dreaming and spiritual this and that. surface of the eyes while sleeping, surface of the screen while spacing/concentrating - you 'go' somewhere.

  • @newnewly ...or he just makes, you know, movies.

  • wow thats totally fuckin awesome

  • Only David Lynch could make an Ad where people have to discuss it's meaning.

  • i get it, the dog is sleeping and dreaming about running, "visit your third place" represents the dog living the virtual reality in his or her head as asleep, similar to Playstation 2 being a device that one can enter a world that's not real.

  • @MrJackThompson greaat job

  • @tharbk01 LOL

  • @MrJackThompson precisely. that's the meaning of the ad, and it's even more important considering Lynch's films.

  • @TSALBIK Thanks, I agree. Lynch uses many metaphors in his works. I remember there was some in Mulholland Dr. probably one of his more almost confusing and abstract films i've seen.

  • @MrJackThompson yea his movie inland empire has me confused to this day, I'm thinking of grabbing a friend and sitting down and watching it again with them hopefully to get a better idea of the movie XD.

  • @PsycReaper i watched it and tried to understand it for at least the first 2 hours, but then i just gave up and looked in internet for an aswer or at least a key, and so i read there is no meaning indeed as in other movies of him just wanted to give to us these weird sensations, but maybe who said it was wrong

  • A washing machine in the kitchen?

  • @CosmicHawke where else?

  • @CosmicHawke Good eye! I noticed that as well. At least he was honest about the ambient sound chosen... did you know there are followers of washing machines on youtube? Just videos of the harmonic sound of washing machines... weird shit.

  • 0:28 haa the sound of good old days..

  • I think he means "realize you dreams so you wont be dreaming about it all the time"... Something like that

  • how the hell did he get the dog to act? ... or is it an dead puppet dog?...looks pretty real to me.

    Great take though!!

  • @drumonzen they probably used a dog who dreams often, then all you need is patience ^^

  • Is it just my impression or is Lynch mocking the PS2? Great Ads but he must of secured the contract before made these. There is a PS2 in my house. Never played it in my life. Identifying with a dog dreaming in a laundry room doesn't do anything for that cause either. He makes it seem even more pathetic. In short, good work!

  • @cupcakes777 to see different parameters in stuff .... must be one of the hardest things to do... The fact that he can ... either fluently or through a lot of thought it ought to be considered something remarkable...

  • I don't know why, but it feels like i'm not going to go to sleep tonight.

  • Its a dead dog puppet ! :D

  • @FATMANFALLDOWN Probably XD... at least seems like

  • i thought it was bizkit the sleepwalking dog... aw well

  • what do they mean by third place? i don't get that at all.

  • The obvious fakeness of the dog makes this much more creepy than usual.

  • It would be funny if you went into the dogs dreams, and he was actually running away from a giant mutant rabbit.

  • Very cool and cheap commercial. Hand of expert is visible.

  • 100% pure David

  • That's David Lynch for ya! Like many of his movies, it actually had you ready for something to make you jump but never did happen. Sweet commercial!

  • what the rabbits have to do with it?

  • The dog's chasing some in his dream.

  • @BalSagothFan333 they are videos made by david lynch. but i dont think this had anything to do with them other than the director

  • @BalSagothFan333

    As in "chasing rabbits".

  • Dreams... That would be the third place in this ad.

Sooo... Ps2 = Dreams = The dreammachine (of it's days of course)...

  • For serious. There is something to take from all of his movies.

  • @numbingpain BTW... that is a washing machine, not a dishwasher... he's sneaky

  • look "the straight story" if you want lynch in a easy going way

  • That was one of the most humane movies I have ever seen. Everyone should see it once.

  • la marta dice che è bellissima! SIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!

LYNCH TI AMO! GNE GNE GNEEEE

  • for some reason, i GOT it

  • Amazing

  • It's interesting... I don't understand very well. But it's ok.

  • hound dog dreaming

  • it's funny how most of the sony commercials that get made don't even end up making television

  • That was the worst!! Lynch's commercials were pointless.

  • You are pointless

  • I love the surreal quality of some of his work. Other times, he's just obsessed with lesbians. And that's really disappointing.

I like the Brothers Quay work much more. Just my opinion.

  • I agree

  • u my friend r a moron

  • Is this what you do if anyone expresses an opinion or criticism? Just call them a moron or some other derogatory term? Is that the extent of your conversation abilities?

You could at least have said I was "rude". At least that wouldn't have been confrontational and have at least gotten an apology out of me.

  • dont act all smart now, lynch is genius, n how is he obsessed with lesbians? mulholland dr meanin and theme required it, it wudnt work otherwise, plus the lesbians part is very minor and he never discusses this part in any interviews about mulholland dr, so that doesnt sound lyk any1 is obsessed

  • You forgot about Lost Highway too. But that's beside the point. Lynch has a fascinating imagination and has delved deeply in the surreal. And makes really interesting imaginative films. The brightest filmmakers, in my opinion, don't have to resort to pornographic and erotic material in order to keep their films interesting.

I've seen all his films. And I haven't taken anything away from them except mindlessness and violence. If you love it, then great. It's just my opinion. Why argue?

  • Apparently, you haven't seen The Elephant Man. Fail.

  • I saw the Elephant Man. I thought it was beautiful. What's your point?

  • "I've seen all his films. And I haven't taken anything away from them except mindlessness and violence. "

"I saw the Elephant Man. I thought it was beautiful."

    Contradict yourself much?

  • No. More like thanking you for reminding me. I didn't realize who made that film.

  • He also directed Dune, which wasn't mindless.

Really, I don't consider any of his films mindless. Some of them are violent, but that's part of the world he creates.

  • I think that's a tired and frankly, a lazy position. It's very easy to hound something for making use of the implications of violence, violent presences, and the latent violence in objectification.

Lynch isn't just interesting for the image. Intentions are brazenly loud, and interpretations/implications are so myriad its nearly damning to most other filmmakers for being so two-dimensinal.

  • By the way, who's acting??? Haha.

  • "whos acting?? haha" wot the hell u talkin about?

  • dont act all smart now remember???? Your own words.

  • what an awesome add!

  • I agree with MisterSynyster, David Lynch scares the hell out of me too...and I love it!

  • dude your fucking stupid ps2 actually won the 2007 console wars

  • ok ok you win.

  • GameCube baby!

  • i don't get this...

  • i think it's quite simple.... have you ever had a dog? they often move like this when they are asleep and (at least it is said, that) they dream about running and hunting.... rabbits for example :-)

  • hhahah i actually do have a dog.. but thanks anyways!! it really helped me

  • @1234djky Seriously? The dog is having a dream, chasing rabbits apparently. It's comparing the Ps2 to a dream, saying that the ps2 is so advanced that its like experiencing a dream. Dreams can seem so real, yet it's a totally different type of reality.

  • Lynch scares me. A lot.

  • The dog is twitching like the turkey in Eraserhead...

  • Ha ha ha ha ha. TOTALLY! Great comment.

  • My mind is blown that THE David Lynch made commercials for the PS2. Go Team Lynch!

  • whoah this made total sense.
