I think another little trick that you seem to be forgetting is, if you are a coward and dont wanna use a mini-turbo technique, then save a Star or a bullet or a mega mush, and keep it until u reach 1st.... Trust me, it has a higher chance of dodging the blue things

I just came up with an idea. What if a blue turtle is heading your way. And you have no items. But before the turtle hits, you stop and you create a turbo boost by moving your bike side by side. Can you still escape a blue turtle with a turbo boost? I think you can.

it is showing on teh replay, just simply press pause and play until you get to a frame in the video, where you can see the boost at the back of your kart from the mushroom before the blue shell hit you.

You have to force the red shell into a stationary item on the track, most likely a wall or barrier. It can't follow on turns so if it's a stage with a lot of curves you should be OK. If not, try getting as close to the wall as possible; it's not guaranteed to work all of the time, but that should help get rid of some of the red shells.

@bigjoegamer09 a good way is to use the race environment such as walls, other people, items scattered in the road, etc.

Just force any of the above between you and the red shield when you hear it is close to you, for example drifting hard in curves to make something get between you and the red shell. Unfortunatelly you will be more likely to avoid damage only in curves. Good luck.

Funky is the lightest of the heavy characters. And most people like using the Bowser Cycle, which is one of the best bikes in the game. I don't have the chart handy, but Funky gives you a +2 in speed compared to the other heavy characters.

Go on the mariokartwiki and you'll see the character attributes. Looks like they changed it to a +4 speed. Although Baby Daisy and Baby Luigi have +5, they're easy to bump off, and that's not good in North America races where people think bumping is the way to race. So you're better off with Funky/BC.
