I believe that the scene with the train passing in the background (at :08) was shot in Oakland, Calif. The VW car is traveling eastbound on 7th Street just east of the intersection with Mandela Parkway. The BART train in the background is headed westbound. A portion of the West Oakland BART station is visible. I don't know if the gas station actually is operable; that parcel is mainly used as a private parking lot by BART travelers but does have a gas station structure on it.
