  • OMG..I am glad I was getting my daily dose of politics...I agree with Fluteman999...you are CUTE...I'll come back for more political update.

  • You're soooo cute !!!

  • Dis-like Mike Huxter-B won. I was cheering for Ron Paul. The last thing America needs is a third term of the Bush administration through Huxter-B. If Huxter-B is the Republican nominee, the Republicans have NO chance. At least, LEGITIMATELY. Evangelicals may be willing to make sacrifices detremental to our country in order to further their extreme religious beliefs. You know, "The ends justify the means"? (Sounds like "By any means neccessary")The rest of us aren't.

  • So far this is the only thing that you have written that has made any sense.

  • I have done my homework extensively, and Mr. Paul has flipped back from his usual New World Order that he so dearly believed in back before his pot smoking supporters elected him into office in Texas. The nazi, oops I mean Mr. Paul has been around alot longer then the last 10 years that people seem to think.

  • Well, I do not dis-like Ron Paul. If he gets 15% of the vote tonight, it won't matter. If the Republicans were using the same system the Democrats are using, he would have a better chance. By getting at least 15% other candidates who did not get the minimum could throw their support behind him. Making him a winner. On the other hand, he may just flat out win. We'll see.

  • Ron Paul is a Nazi....do your homework!

  • Poor Ron Paul. The way the Republican Iowa Caucuses are set up it will be very hard for a guy like him to have a chance against Mike Huxter-B and Nitwit Romney. On the Democratic side, there is more hope for guys like him, because of the way the system is set up.

  • from stephen d macmillan the situation in iraq with insurgents is how they adopt to us,i have the perfect first lady potential and when we have gone places i noticed how the third world nation people from iran, brazil, india they adopt to her and listen to her and noticed if they are angry drop every thing when she comes to light and are like salate salate and know she would be the greatest tool to stop a war

  • This is precisely why the Iowa Caucas is a waste of time for the rest of American voters - Unlike a primary, not everyone can vote, in fact a very small and select group of people can actually vote. The entire primary process needs to be overhauled, why should 200,000 people in Iowa get to set the national tone in the media to decide who we're voting for? It's lunacy. -zen

  • It gladdens my heart to see so much political discussion on youtube. If you're interested in a 'soundtrack' to your cuacussing experience, please view searchword wilburjr-thanks.

  • vote for hilary!

  • idiot.

  • what your crazy she has no "CAUC" "USES" lol but for reals people RON PAUL IS americas has hope

  • hey citizen tube...

will questions and videos be chosen by the number of ratings ?,, or will it be a farce as this video shows youtube and cnn to be in the video link below

    watch?v=MsL7e4bgqkI&NR=1

  • Dennis Kucinch was excluded from the Iowa debate, the media fears him.

Down with Busch, Dennis Kucinich for president!

  • You must be thinking about beer, or just not very smart. Our President is Bush, maybe you should learn to walk before you run there little guy,

  • Sounds like electoral Treason to Me!

  • Damn, he is le hot.

  • All the candidates have their things that they brag about:

Giuliani - 911(but people from NYC hate him)

McCain - POW(in a failed war, and wants to continue another failed war)

Huckabee - Christian(fake) Sounds like Bush, and look how Christian he is...

Romney - warmonger/he talks about doubling the size of guantanamo/brags about faith being important

Ron Paul - DEFENDER OF THE CONSTITUTION

    I know who I'd pick...

  • Iraq is not a failed war. The war was very successful and has been over for years. It is a policing and training operation. If you consider it a war, then so is Kosovo and we are still there. shame on Bill Clinton. Ignore the media and grow a mind of your own.

  • Iraq is not a failed war? Hmm... Why did the neocons send American soldiers to die? Answer: because Saddam was linked to 911 and was posing an imminent threat to the security of the US.

Now we know that the neocons went to war on a pack of lies. I call that a failed war. US soldiers died for neocon lies.

  • Sounds like you've been chained to your main stream controlled TV to get valuable misinformation. Its really not your fault cause most Americans including myself have been suckered for decades. Slowly America is waking up to reality thanks to the internet. Turn off the tube and find out whats really going on. Begin by watching "911 Press for Truth", "Freedom to Fascism" "Zeitgeist"

  • That reply was meant for dfouch3

  • Registered Member of the Party...key words here for voting in a caucus. Please everyone, register and vote in your state's caucus. It could make all the difference.

  • i like!

  • The Des Moines Register excluded a candidate, D.K., who stood against Global Warming and for Universal Health Care from the final debate before the Caucuses! At a time when all Americans are faced with financial ruin or worse from a "health care industry" that preys on our citizens and our biosphere is being ruined, it's time for Americans to wake up! Shame on the Des Moines Register!

  • What about the Federal Roster of Candidates not even getting the time of day; being admonished by the Iowa Population.

Iowa citizens are being robbed of their soveringhty by two political Wolf Parties.

  • this might be a stuped question but when do we VOTE for the nominees....in texas

  • We have a primary in almost every State, but the focus of the most attention & expenses go to the ones that have them first.

This is a media creation and the media won't bother recognizing the primaries & caucuses of other States because they have always considered it unnecessary.

This isn't even 100% of the actual selection process because both parties will go on to choose whoever the hell they want anyway.

  • I think tx does theirs in March, if you go to the Ron Paul website it has each state's deadlines for registration deadlines and when to vote, while you are there read about how Dr. Paul will restore our Bill of Rights!

  • Steve, outstanding summary of how these Iowa caucuses work. As a resident of Minnesota, I will be looking forward to see how our neighbors to the south make decisions. Keep up the good work.

  • Very interesting. So, the parties control the caucuses.

So, what happens to candidates who appeal widely across party lines? I have never voted republican, but I will vote for Ron Paul in the Missouri primary, if I have a chance.

  • blah blah

  • Caucus: Taken from the Algonquin word for "convention", is a complex, heavily-controlled process of selecting presidential nominees that most of us will never understand.

  • The Iowa caucus is NOT a selection for the actual nominees.

    This is a selection of delegates who will go on to the county convention;

    Who will go on to select delegates for the State convention;

They will meet delegates from the two major parties (selected by those parties) and finally choose their nomination.

  • No one likes the DMR - but this should be a good grasp by the people to show democracy with New Media in the hands of the people!

  • Despite what I keep hearing the candidates say, I think the notion of returning to Iowa every 4 years to pick our candidates is a TERRIBLE one. By the time we get past states like New Hampshire and SC, the choices for the rest of the nation will be winnowed down to two or three at most. Where in the Constitution does it say that Iowa must go first (and that Corn must be king?)

  • I totally agree! I can't understand how it's fair to have a few states determine who the rest of us get to pick from, especially in the 21st Century! It should be done on the same day across the whole country if anything!

  • Doing it on the same day would be WAY too expensive and favor well known candidates. I would like to see a process where they rotate it. Pick smaller states from different regions and have them start things out. They didn't always used to do things this way. The DNC and RNC could change this if they showed a little backbone.

  • Yeah, you're right about the problems of money. We shouldn't have a system that only allows those with tons of money any real chance. But with the Internet I'm thinking it'll get at least a bit easier for those with less funds to still be seen.

  • Yes, the internet has changed the funding issue quite dramatically. Ron Paul raised six million dollars on Sunday. Pretty remarkable.

  • Yeah, that's one of the things that make me think that by the 2012 election things will be very different! We're still in transition from the 20th Century way of doing things.

  • The Des Moines Register has already proven that they can't be trusted with the truth, why should we trust them now? They lied about their reason for excluding Kucinich and underminded free and fair elections. FUCK the Des Moines Register!!!

  • Awesome. I've never really looked into the Caucus voting system so I'm glad you explained it. 5*

  • Fun idea! Can't wait to see what the Iowan Tubers come up with.

  • Disclosure: The Desmoine Register endorsed Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

  • Oops. Read that Des Moines.

  • True Jive, good point. But to be clear, this project has been launched by the DMR's news team and YouTube, not the DMR's editorial board, and the focus is on your YouTube videos.
