on my playthrough my croconaw did NO damage at all, is it cuz of a bad nature or does croconaw have shit attack?

Croconaw actually has greater physical than special attack. What do you mean by not damage at all, and what is it's nature?

When i used it against morty (it knew bite) it was only doing like half their health or less and it was super effective, also im not sure if ice punch is a special attack in this game but it could never 1 hit ko anything

Bite was a special attack in this, it wasn't physical until Diamond/Pearl. Croconaw has crappier Spec attack and you may have had a -Spec Atk nature.

Ice Punch is special.
