Then get your vaccum cleaner and put it behind your PS3 at the vents, remember to unplug it though lol. Sometimes the dust gets inside the disk drive, so use the vacuum to suck in all of the dust within the PS3 and it will work. I have a PS3 and it works all of the time :-)

@AFKILLER101: you can´t get all the dirt out of the PS3. The Fan is taken much of your Roomair in the case. When you smoke, or have any pets, you cant get out all of the dirt in your room. the laser is getting warm, and so he will take on dirt. put the PS3 in your fridge...it cools and it is clean....sometimes!

You´ll never reach this areas. so in most casses, the drive has to be replaced for secure gaming. play on!

Sony should offer free repairs. i see this as a very large problem. my 60g laser's dead, now my Slim 514 error. this is really going to hurt PS. bad, bad sony blu-ray laser, deep shame on sony 4 this crap & after-sales. how dare they skimp on the most essential part of an console to make it japanese cheap and charge us for crappy parts (fan, chips & laser)

shit at least you can still play games offline and go to your main menu i cant even do all that. @marcian702 i know how to fix that. first go to your ps3 and push the start button and keep pushing until it turns off then, press again the start buttton and keep pushing until you jear 2 beeps rapidly then connect your controler and select restore ps3 and now you can take it to Sony to fix other problems =)

I bought my ps3 on their release date for $600, I'm a hardcore gamer I probably log 20+ hrs a week playing & another 5+hrs of movies etc. So you figure I've probably gotten around 4000+ hrs of enjoyment out of my system so that breaks down to less than 15 cents an hour. And if you include games, controllers etc (stuff still usable with new ps3, 16 games, 4 controllers) it jumps to 43 cents an hour. Good luck finding entertainment at those rates. (Did the math to justify buying a new system lol:)

..i recently replaced the laser on my 60gb ps3 and it just broke again playing mw2.....apparently theres certain parts of the game where it makes the disc speed up violently and this fries the lens..the earlier ps3s dont have a failsafe system to prevent this from happening so its both mw2 and i guess sony to blame...either way im going to replace the laser for the last time and never play cod on it again..............
replace ur blu-ray laser its about $60 on ebay or other places on the net. u need the whole motor track and everything not just the laser easy fix. mine did it and i took apart the blu-ray drive and replaced it and now it works like a champ. there are even videos to show u how to dissassemble ur ps3 on youtube

You say about rrod but my friend says he got a jaspa model or summit and he says those ones dont fail. I got one for £100, im guna miss my ps3 games but I too pissed of with sony.

everyone who says what a fail on sony's part, you are probably a xbox360 user, and remember the red ring of death? That made xbox 360's unusable and microsoft always fails with everything they make, xbox 360 : fail windows vista : fail windows 7 : fail sony 1 little mistake that made the ps3 unusable for a day or two wow.

Do you guys remember back in 2006, when Sony lauch the PS3 and kept on saying that this gen would have a ten year life cycle....but the calendar would only last until 2010...smart....
On another note I hope it didn't mess up my save file for heavy rain...I wanted to play a game and got the error....

Before I had the yellow light error, that was replaced with a refurbished one, I'd just put up with that.

yea i went into modern warfare 2 and samething came up. I went to my trophy collection and my modern warfare 2 trophies were gone. I hope they'll be back when sony fixes this error. It's been confirmed that psn is down and sony is looking for a solution. Everyone gets an error code 8001050F.

i have the same! i just wanna play AVP without online!!! just the game!!! it loads and everything, you can see it happening in the background, but the message is their, giving you 1 option of OK. and that's it. i now have 3 broken ps3's and i am strongly considering a xbox360. but GT5 is coming out soon....

dude the same exact thing happen to me today i was on the fone with playstation. what u have to do is go to wer u ps3 is on with only the red lite hold until u here 3 beeps .. the let go.. nxt hold it until u here 2 beeps really quik then let go then pick option number 3 and restore settings . it didnt work 4 me but they said it shud.. if u dont understand just call sony at 1800-345-7669

..i recently replaced the laser on my 60gb ps3 and it just broke again playing mw2.....apparently theres certain parts of the game where it makes the disc speed up violently and this fries the lens..the earlier ps3s dont have a failsafe system to prevent this from happening so its both mw2 and i guess sony to blame...either way im going to replace the laser for the last time and never play cod on it again..............

replace ur blu-ray laser its about $60 on ebay or other places on the net. u need the whole motor track and everything not just the laser easy fix. mine did it and i took apart the blu-ray drive and replaced it and now it works like a champ. there are even videos to show u how to dissassemble ur ps3 on youtube
