This just inspired me my parents got me this for my birthday and iv been to lazy to work this anyone know any good tutorials to make animations look good like this? (i dont mind if they cost anything) it's worth it!
@wazburg Adam Philips(username here is Chluiad) has some awesome video tutorials for this program and will soon be offering fx animation courses for $24 a month on his site biteycastle. com :)
Which one is this Toon Boom Studio, Professional, or other PLEASE ANSWER!!! Also what tablet do you reccomend I get, saying that I'm a 16 year old with very little money, at the moment?????
@ToonBoomAnimation i just had a jawdrop seeing this video. im serious. but i have a question! :^D
some of these animations are still hand-draw keyframes (some in the old way, the paper, and others drawed in the program, and i assume there are many brushes styles like simulating crayons or whatever...), but i found videos just teaching bones and "paper-cut style" animation. how can I use in the old way, and still utilize the new features?
@ManelRuivo Toon Boom's professional products enable you to create any style of animation. If you prefer traditional methods, you can scan in your drawings and maximize the use of technology to clean up, color, animate, do your compositing and apply special effects, all within one single software.
@ToonBoomAnimation I saw something about my scanner needing TWAIN capabilities. If I my scanner lacks this feature/driver, will I still be able to edit and add movement to scanned images?
@Talz1803 One huge downside of Anime Studio to me is that you can't properly import Illustrator files (has to be an ANCIENT illustrator format AND will just stop importing if there's too many points/paths in your file). I mean, I like to draw my characters beforehand, "design" them first. Being able to import paths and layers from other programs is a big pro in my book. Drawing in Anime Studio was also really frustrating to me...
I recently joined Toon boom after strong recommendations on XNA creators club. I'm currently making a puzzle game for xbox and I do have some Animation Talent I so i bought the program and I am very happy, I have the studio version though
I love using toon boom, but my concern is the fact that the PLE stuff I make can't be opened in the full version of animator... So essentially, all of the work I've done will have to be RE-done... regardless, it's awesome. (even if I get no pressure sensitivity...)
@ToonBoomAnimation I understand completely (It's a competitive field!) And it was mostly demo reel stuff, shouldn't be too hard to redo. Especially in a program this well designed!
first time i watched toon boom i didnt belive it was good, now i use and is the best program of animation, since pro to amateur or as a hobby. TOON BOOM FTW!
The aimation process isn't as easy as just using toon boom. starts off with a script, storboards, x-sheets, audo, animatics, touch ups, animation and final product.
That's why we got Google look up for tutorials and beside everyone can use ToonBoom you don't need to attend some fancy school for animation if you plan to use ToonBoom as a hobby its okay.
It must be awesome to make cartoons and even publish them on Tv like these series! I'll buy Toon boom Studio, is it good or Toon boom animate is better?
@pianistmaster1 If you want the same Toon Boom product that Family Guy and The Simpson's were made with, I believe they used Toon Boom Digital pro, I think it's Animate pro now.. But Animate is better then Studio.
King of the Hill (like Familly guys, The Simpsons and other the Fox showa) are drawn on paper. Toon Boom Harmony is used during the Scan, Clean, Ink and Paint and Compositing phases. Fox is also using Storyboard Pro since 2 years for the pre production phases.
King of the Hill was premiere first in 1997. Toon Boom TicTacToon and USAnimate software were released around 1994.
wow so many different styles! Did they do the simpsons movie with toonboom? I heard somewhere that they did :S and how much would toonboom studio cost? I'm interested in getting it
Most of animations in the demo reel are done using the Professional products (Animate, Digital Pro, Harmony). Toon Boom Studio is more a hobbyst application to learn and pratice animation than a studio production tool.
sorry i ment to say that... do you know the difference between ton boom harmony and toon boom digital pro because i have toon boom harmony toon boom storybored and toon boom studio and i just wanted to know
Harmony and Digital Pro offer almost the same feature set with one major difference. Harmony is a client-server base solution made for large scale studio and production facilities whereas Digital Pro is more meant for independent.
On top of that Harmony comes with dedicated tools for high-speed production scanner, render farm, batch processing, etc...
A wonderful video, what it lacks, though, is names of the animations showcased - in some cases I'd really love to watch them, but don't know their names.
Wait a minute... These were all made with this software? (iv'e read the description, just awed)

And its scanned on to the computer?
do they put the color on the pictures when on the computer?

Storyboard is used during pre production (like blueprints), then the animation tools are used to produce the final materials.
