Good promo, but when I think of WPIX in 1987, I think of how that channel (among the others) was on its downhill slide. I mean, I grew up in the 1970s watching all sorts of classic, CLASSIC tv shows and movies. But around 1985, cable tv was gaining a foothold in the area (New york City), and all that good stuff I grew up watching would disappear only to surface on some cable channel and never come back to free tv. (I didnt get cable tv until 1996)
Agreed. By the time WPIX joined the WB, it had lost all of its old flavor. I miss it. Then again, I miss all of the former independents, WPIX, WOR and WNEW.
@RoyKnable WPIX still does have some of its old flavor. Odd Couple is on every late Friday/early Saturday at 3am. They brought back Chiller Theater, albeit only showing it every Halloween. They also still show March of the Wooden Soldiers on Thanksgiving and Christmas, they do Odd Couple marathons on Thanksgiving, and Honeymooners marathons on New Year's. WWOR and WNYW, on the other hand, those two stations did indeed lose all of their old flavor. Keep WPIX out of Rupert Murdoch's hands...
I didn't think I would ever become one of those people who sat back and said "Rember when..." LMAO all of these bumps, intros and commercials shure are turning me into to one.
I was 5 when this was out but for some strange reason I totally remember this promo. Wow I'm getting old.

I remember that commercial since I was a kid, but this song was based on the theme song "Everybody Knows Your Name" from the TV show "Cheers".

@RoyKnable (continued) ...and the station will most likely keep giving us those classics we still see on there now.
