I hope she can use this prestige to popularize fencing (at least in the US). I'd like a higher demand for fencing stuff so it hopefully becomes cheaper XD.
May someone PLEASE tell me of the type of tennis shoe this nice lady introduced us to? The fencing tennis shoe designed by NIKE. please? thank you all.
@TheUpperClan If you're after a cheaper alternative to bona-fide fencing pumps, try looking at squash pumps - I've has the same comfortable, smelly pair for 6 years.
@paraveldg Not saying you're wrong by any means whatsoever by the way. I used to take some lessons but everyone at the school was so elitist and clique-y. I don't have much experience with fencers so to me, this woman is like a breath of fresh air.
@GOE7Song Sorry to hear that. .. I've fenced in the U.K., Italy and Latin America; and I've never come across something like that before: everyone I've known to been a fencer are quite down-to-earth (within reason ;) ). I hope your previous experience with fencers does not put you off the sport!
@paraveldg No no, not at all! It's just that that is the only fencing group where I live. But if you don't take it too seriously, it is actually quite funny to see. These guys would act as if you'd never get to they're level and they'd talk about their great exploits (both in fencing and outside of it). They also pretended it was like Harry Potter, and wanted to keep it secret, you know, not practicing outside of the club for fear of somebody not in the club seeing you lol.
I remember seeing her when she was a 12 or 13 year old with braces and all the other teenage things going on. She has blossomed into one of the world's most beautiful fencers - maybe the most beautiful.
train to play left handed.. at the beginning its a big change. but people will fear you as they have to change the strategy, you wont. about 12% are left handed, 88 are right handed. this means, you will be climbing the ladder easier, later on you will be facing more left handed players that will make you change your strategy as you have to now.
learn from nadal, learn from Edoardo Mangiarotti. both are naturally right handed, but are trained lefties.
At 3:50, the visor mask has now been outlawed due to safety problems; there were too many cracked visors and one especially bad shot that was lucky not to blind the guy. So now saber masks are fully mesh.
@swrdgrl yeah its still legal in saber but i just realized bfore she said that about getting lucky how unfair those masks are, you could get hit and it not register! : )
Do you all use normal blades or the BF blades?

@TheUpperClan It's not a tennis shoe, it's a shoe designed specifically for the sport of fencing. It's called the Nike Balestra.

It is nice to see someone that, despite the prestigious sport in which they're involved, is so genuine and down-to-earth.
