what I wanna know is, can you boot xubuntu onto ps3. then get team fortress 2 running on there rather than having to play the crap unupdated ps3 orange box version. if not just say no.
For the people who do not understand, Xubuntu is ubuntu using the XFCE desktop environment, this makes it much faster. XFCE uses less ram. So, it's ideal. Also, using Xubuntu on a PS3 without any modifications WILL NOT WORK. The PS3 uses a different processor. It needs to be recompiled to work on the PS3. This is just how things work.
What version of Xubuntu is this 7.10? Cause that's what I have and I can't get the internet working on it. I've been trying to get wi-fi to work but no good. I've even plugged in an Ethernet cable still nothing. I've read forums and other sites but their info sucks and it does nothing. Do you have a reliable site or instructions on how to do this. Thanks.
Curious...are there any wireless keyboards that work with the PS3, or does it have to be a USB keyboard? And can you use two PS2-to-USB connectors to connect a PS2 (not Playstation 2) keyboard/mousepad combo to the PS3?
im using a wireless logitech mouse on my ps3 right now, im running a wired usb keyboard tho, don't see why a wireless keyboard, linux recognized my mouse with no configuration required. and im also using a 4 port usb two connect everything else i need, no configuration required there either, somethings are kind of tricky to get running on linux if ur a begginer like me, still no flash, i got gnash installed but it wouldnt actually load any videos ive tried so far. youtube youku or myspace
I also have Xubuntu 7.10 for ppc on my PS3, however I can't get any flash player to work. I tried Gnash and Swf, since Adobe is only for x86 and not ppc. Please any advice on getting flash to work is very appreciated!!
ive gotten one running, but i couldnt get it to register neither a pc gamepad, nor my ps3 controller, i'm sure it can be done, im just a noob, but screw snes i wanna play some mame roms, havent found one that will work for me yet , also mugen and FOF, still failing to get them running as well. if anyone gets any of these working and feels like walking me through or pointing to a good tutorial feel free to message me.
thats good then well yeah i have snes on running but after that i was like fuck the operating system its kinda stupid so i never touched it again but planning on playing starcraft on it when i found out you can play starcraft on linux
Press ALT+F1 (or CTRL+ALT+F1) type: sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop type: ps3videomode -v 131 type: sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start if that works, then make it permanent by doing this . Open Terminal type: sudo nano /etc/event.d/ps3videomode in the file that opens write: "start on runlevel 2 exec /usr/bin/ps3videomode -v 131" Without the quotes Save the file, then reboot. Should now be fullscreen on a HDTV This WONT work for SDTV' and it will make your display unreadable. only use if you have HDTV
This is so cool. Xubuntu on PS3! I thought it doesn't run on PS3 'cause PS3 requires some special CPU arch software platform

yeah, you just need yo use WINE then it should work ok
DavidPlim 2 years ago
@DavidPlim and QEMU since wine is made for x86 processors and qemu somehow emulates this kind of processor (as far as i know...) -_-'

Gnome is a bloody bloody pig of a pig. XFCE is lighter and actually more configurable.
I don't understand the motivation to continue with gnome.
Xubuntu rules. Ubuntu does not.
