You don't need to use a brush, you can use the channel mixer to change the grey/white/black into an actual color, than adjust the hue and saturation to your liking :) thumbs up so all can see!

I used to use Quick selection tool too.But when i found polygonal lasso tool i realised that its the most easiest thing in the world,you dont have to erase around the object,and of course the result will be much better

There are different ways. It depends on the type of photoshop you have. I have cs3 and I use the polygon tool. The quick selection leaves it choppy. And when you color it, you don't have to use multiply and then overlay. You can use multiply for manga scans and any other picture you have. You can also use color, depending on the type of picture you have. I don't want to sound like a bitch or anything but I agree with pinkrainkun.. this was kind of nooby.. Sorry.. && I've been editing for 5 years

Learning photoshop is like learning anything else(there is even schools for it), you need to do research, there are many tutorials out there, just google them.

Scaling is very basic, simply Ctrl-t and drag using the mouse.

You will have a loss in detail scaling up where detail will remain intact scaling down.

._. Like.. This was a noob edit. The guy was obviously lazy. Guys, if you want a more perfect hair color you can go with gradient, and instead of the quick selection tool, use the polygon tool that way you can just trace the hair its a little more time consuming but in the end you wont have to correct anything same with the background.
