I have even enjoyed the sitcoms he has. I really liked The Family that Preys. That has some amazing characters and the actors and actresses were great. Now back to the movie, I didn't like Madea goes to Jail. The story of Derek Luke and Keisha Pullman's character was a strong enough story without Madea. She had nothing to do with their lives even in the end. That's why I didn't care much for the movie. A proper story would follow Madea throughout a portion of her life in or out of jail. That is not necessarily true. If it identifies with your culture then you will more than likely think it to be funny. I don't get comedy like Seinfeld and movies like Dude Wheres My Car and Superbad do not appeal to me. Shows like The Jeffersons, Whats Happening and Good Times were funny to me. Now I will admit The Golden Girls was an amazingly funny show and movies like SoulPlane are downright offensive but that is not the norm. Overall it is better if you can relate.
Comedy depends on the audience understanding the joke. There are different types of comedy though. Obviously some rely a lot on culture (this one).
However a show like Seinfeld simply relies on you watching the show a lot. Once you understand the characters, you realize it's comic genius. That's why it wasn't popular in its early seasons.
A show like The Office started in England but is now one of the most popular shows here.

Now back to the movie, I didn't like Madea goes to Jail. The story of Derek Luke and Keisha Pullman's character was a strong enough story without Madea. She had nothing to do with their lives even in the end. That's why I didn't care much for the movie. A proper story would follow Madea throughout a portion of her life in or out of jail. Not some DA and a prostitute.

That is not necessarily true. If it identifies with your culture then you will more than likely think it to be funny. I don't get comedy like Seinfeld and movies like Dude Wheres My Car and Superbad do not appeal to me. Shows like The Jeffersons, Whats Happening and Good Times were funny to me. Now I will admit The Golden Girls was an amazingly funny show and movies like SoulPlane are downright offensive but that is not the norm. Overall it is better if you can relate.

Comedy depends on the audience understanding the joke. There are different types of comedy though. Obviously some rely a lot on culture (this one).
However a show like Seinfeld simply relies on you watching the show a lot. Once you understand the characters, you realize it's comic genius. That's why it wasn't popular in its early seasons.
A show like The Office started in England but is now one of the most popular shows here.
I'm not saying everything translates though.

Ok first of all, if you take offense to them just interviewing black people then oh well, it's their choice of who they want to interview. 2nd of all, if you haven't seen the movie, then go and see it but don't put down the people who did. They wanted to go see it and no one should stop them from being entertained. Lastly, if you haven't seen the movie, don't bad-mouth the movie and the people that have seen it, that's in really bad taste and it makes you look bad. That's what I think about it.
