Marriage is conferred by religous organizations only.

Civil Unions are conferred by the government.

Both would grant the same legal protections.

Race has to with who someone is, while being Gay is about how someone has sex, and they can't even procreate naturally as a woman and a man can. Domestic partnerships are like sitting in the back of the bus (separate but equal... which was later decided to not be equal).

Second in CA you can your child pulled from any part of a class that you are uncomfortable.

Adeon55, those "activist judges" were the Republican-majority California Supreme Court. They weighed Prop 22, "the will of the people" with the California Constitution, which is ALSO the "will of the people" and which ALSO passed with a large majority.

I do, however, care what some activist judges do, and overturning the explicit will of the people of California, who voted 61% against allowing gay marriage just a few years ago (on which I did not vote), doesn't sit well with me at all.
