To fix this problem all you need to do is.. 1. Press Control Alt Delete and your task manager should pop up. 2.Click file/New task and in the search bar type Regedit. @ELiTeEnVy You have downloaded a FAKE antivirus that is actually a virus. I suggest you run combofix, rkill, and malwarebytes. just make sure that you download from the real link and not fake ones. PS all of these are free so if they ask for $ don't do it.

@BebeGrl98 Hmmm. never herd of a problem like that. It could just be a picture. Have you ever been in "safe mode with networking" and trying it through there? To get into it, when your computer is booting up (before the Windows loading screen) keep hitting the F8 key until you get into a DOS looking B&W screen. With the arrow keys highlight "Safe mode with Networking" and press enter. You should start seeing a bunch of words scrolling down. This is normal. Once your in, follow the video normally
@XxMrmoneyKing The download is virus free. I think you may have contracted a virus. Malwarebytes = best free scanner. but you should still look at other free scanners. look around on YT for some. here's a couple: Avast home edition and AVG free. Feel free to post other scanners.

@xamrenzo The fix it's self should work, the problem is (If it sincerely deleted your explorer.exe file) is that you are missing it. a few searches and you may be able to find it and download it somewhere

And I don't know about that.... (YT broken).... hmmmm. Try using another browser (or maybe try to find the dev channel?)

@FamousBaller2008 that "Folder" was actually explorer.exe, but theres 2... In windows, you have 2, 1 for your taskbar & desktop, and 1 for Windows explorer. the 1st one (the one you WANT to open) probably got deleted by some nasty virus. If you hit the Windows + R key, you can go strait to the run window, and run it from there. I recommend that you should be in safe mode before you start fixing it, though.
@vengerad47 Try CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or, go into safemode. you could also download the utilities in the description and keep going from there. Still need help? Comment again.
@vengerad47 You may want to connect it (Harddrive) to another computer, scan it multiple times with multiple scanners, and put it back in. Also, Read the description for some explorer.exe cache's

When I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, I get task manager, I go to processes and explorer.exe is there, I did what you did and I have Explorer.exe in c:/windows and on start up.

@killer60600 k. go to your drive with windows Installed (C:) then, when in Drive C:, click on your windows folder. then, scroll down until you see "explorer.exe". there should be 2. The 1st one is the one you want. Does that help?

@tsaunRPM go into safe mode and re-download the explorer.exe file for your OS. Please tell me your specific OS (Windows 7, Windows xp.....) tell me how many bit's there are: (64 bit, 32 bit) and tell me what service pack (SP1, SP3)
@wiersandlines assuming your response, you don't know much about computers. But I'm nice. (iexplore = Internet Explorer). most people have the second service pack, so I will go upload that and you can paste it in your startup folder.
@iixAU solution 1: Try Ctrl Alt esc...... or windows key + R, solution 2, Unplug your computer, then plug it back in, then, (at the very SECOND you hit the power button), hit f8. If a box or text pop's up asking what to boot up too, select "Harddrive" or something along those lines. then hit f8 repeatedly again without wasting any time. then, follow the video instructions Does that help ?

@Riceborg You should try booting into safemode wit networking then. Hit F8 repeatedly upon bootup (During the bios loading screen) until you see a black and white menu with safemode w/ networking written at the top. select it with the up and down arrows. Then you may have all of your stuff back (But it'l look a little weird) Then, follow my instructions starting from 1:06 of this video.

@vengerad47 Try CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or, go into safemode. you could also download the utilities in the description and keep going from there. Still need help? Comment again.

@vengerad47 You may want to connect it (Harddrive) to another computer, scan it multiple times with multiple scanners, and put it back in. Also, Read the description for some explorer.exe cache's

I need help, my computer turns on and then it has it a black screen. When I press F8 repeatedly i click on safe mode but it still has a black screen.

@mIG961001 that, maybe hardware.To be honest, I'm a 12 year old kid. so, for your situation, I would see a professional, or ask some more YT amateurs. My best guess would be your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). Very puzzling, I'll try to find a solution for the next guy. Thanks! -Tic0mfreak

@HeteroProductions kay then, it may be a hardware problem, or maybe your explorer.exe file was deleted. or a program running kills it when it finds out its opened. tell me then your specific problem and I probably have a solution. No need to get mad and go to the geek squad :)

When I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, I get task manager, I go to processes and explorer.exe is there, I did what you did and I have Explorer.exe in c:/windows and on start up.

I'm not sure what you mean so I'll just say what I think you are trying to ask.
Well when the computer is turned back on, loads normally, then the background appears but no icons/task bar.

@HeteroProductions okay. you probably have a corrupted version of it. viruses will sometimes do this. or it maybe from the install. what version of windows do you have? and how many bits? 32 or 64. I can go get a replacement of it via my family.

@HeteroProductions hmmmm. idk anyone with my family with that setup. hmmmmm. look online, you may get lucky. But If i were you, i would only use YT and make sure that theres comments enabled, there not "Comment waiting approval" when you try to submit a comment, and make sure the comments are positive. or you could download "malwarebytes anti-malware" and other free anti-virus programs and scan your computer w/ all of them.

@HeteroProductions well, they have ALOT. and don't worry once I get a hold of it i'll post it :) Later In they day, I found out I already had a dead computer (With no sound and a few of system files missing) that mildly works and I can extract the file from it. (Dont worry system files wont be deleted)I'm at my friends house right now so. :) just wait about a day :/

It's weird because everytime I exit my browser, firefox or chrome, I get no volume for anything. So I have to restart the computer. If you know how to fix that, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

@HeteroProductions sorry that I didn't post it yet. w/ homework in the way, it's more hard than what I would have expected. Sadly no, the only advice I could give you is to scan w/ multiple free antiviruses (But NOT the rogues) just hang tight and wait for me to post the file it could take me a day, or the rest of this week, I don't know. for instance (as far as the rogues go) theres a video on the right that says 'SOFTWARE THAT Makes your Computer Fast. Scan f..." DONT DOWNLOAD! ROGUE!

I use malwarebytes registered and I found like couple hundred or thousand viruses which are now gone.

@RealMinecraftTV A program is kicking it off (sorry for such late response, i don't really like the new layout) go hit the windows and r key and type "msconfig" and hit enter. go to the startup tab and uncheck everything and restart. it'll probably work don't worry.

@killer60600 k. go to your drive with windows Installed (C:) then, when in Drive C:, click on your windows folder. then, scroll down until you see "explorer.exe". there should be 2. The 1st one is the one you want. Does that help?

@tsaunRPM go into safe mode and re-download the explorer.exe file for your OS. Please tell me your specific OS (Windows 7, Windows xp.....) tell me how many bit's there are: (64 bit, 32 bit) and tell me what service pack (SP1, SP3)

@wiersandlines assuming your response, you don't know much about computers. But I'm nice. (iexplore = Internet Explorer). most people have the second service pack, so I will go upload that and you can paste it in your startup folder.

Ctrl alt del doesn't open task manager. Noting opens up and the F8 at the start doesn't work either please helpp

@iixAU solution 1: Try Ctrl Alt esc...... or windows key + R, solution 2, Unplug your computer, then plug it back in, then, (at the very SECOND you hit the power button), hit f8. If a box or text pop's up asking what to boot up too, select "Harddrive" or something along those lines. then hit f8 repeatedly again without wasting any time. then, follow the video instructions Does that help ?

@Riceborg You should try booting into safemode wit networking then. Hit F8 repeatedly upon bootup (During the bios loading screen) until you see a black and white menu with safemode w/ networking written at the top. select it with the up and down arrows. Then you may have all of your stuff back (But it'l look a little weird) Then, follow my instructions starting from 1:06 of this video.
