I'm so surprised this version of Scrooge/Christmas Carol doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It should be the first version thought of by network television producers each year. Albert Finney was masterful at this role!!! The sound track makes this version absolutely magical and so enjoyable. I love the scene/song with the Spirit of Xmas Proesent and the song "I like life"...for some reason I seem to always want to get a glass of Red wine...LOL...Merry Xmas Everyone!!
@madeesdaddy i agree, this version is never screened in the lead up or during christmas in England at all on any TV networks! And for the past two years neither has the Patrick Stewart version which was on at 7on channel 4 every year on Christmas eve, it has been replaced by Hairspray for some reason. However, every Christmas eve on 5 we do get the Alistair Sim version. On saying that this christmas "Its a Wonderful Life", "A Christmas Story" and "Die Hard" was never shown!
Our family watches this every year at least twice. I'm 19, and I plan to continue this tradition with my own family. Long live the spirit of true Christmas <3
@BleachNaruTard yep, this is my favorite version of A Christmas Carol-by far! I always save it till Christmas Eve to watch. And I love this song, too. Just the best.
@BleachNaruTard i got this version on DVD one christmas, so me and my family watch it every christmas eve without fail. It's become traditon got to be one of the most uplifting and christmassy films every made, if not the best. Definately the quintessental christmas film
jus watched this movie the other day and i tell ya other christmas movies cant come nowhere near what family vibes and chills you get from watchin these classic movies, its a tradition to watch these with your family young and old jus like bob cratchette says in the song it hypnotizes you because these older movies are epic and will never be forgotten no matter what new movies will come out....

It's a shame that the soundtrack has been out of print for years...it hasn't been reissued due to some kind of rights complication.

Beautiful, beautiful... from a grand musical, a grand song, expressing the joy of Christmas children in the minor key. I'm so glad you put it up.

No, peter cratchit does not have any solos, however he duets with martha cratchit in Good Times. This song is usually sung much slower as well.
