VH hardcores - a question - Alex Van Halen's drum set at the time, was he using also Simmons to his far right? The toms at times sound like Simmons, I really dig his drum sounds, always have, from full on huge all acoustic to combinations of acoustic and electronic.
I missed this tour because I was too young to travel across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin. I was almost ready to swim. I've seen them many times, but these times are gone.
MONSTER VERSION of "Intruder" here !! Ed's haunted house noises sound creepy as hell !!.The Big Rev. Al is ALWAYS SOLID AS A ROCK. THE WHEELS OF VAN HALEN. THE LEGS, IF YOU WILL, OF VAN HALEN. He makes the music move & groove. Mike keeps it steady on bass as well throughout. & his background vocals are 2nd to none, made up for alot for Roth's singing shortcomings,so he can do dumb shit (missing lyrics). Memories of the way they were. VH ROCKS !!!!!!!
@FutureWarhead he doesnt play this with a drill the original recording was with a beer can..later on when he did the poundcake stuff he actually picked up that idea from paul gilbert. paul was doing it ten years before ed picked it up
@motleycrue24 its funny because i have seen here a video in which Paul play a little bit of Eruption with a drill, when he was young... everybody pick up everybody
@motleycrue24 sorry I can't find it in my historic, and I can't find it anymore, can't remember the title... but I found this, something of Eruption I think: h tt p://w ww.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk0jxy6j9vI&feature=related
@Daehawk : Check out that Chickenfoot band ... Sounded so much like 5150 ???
Anyway. I feel like I'm 18 again when I listen to those tunes. Maybe I stopped ageing the day I first heard Van Halen ? (My first tape ever, still have it)

Darn it, is there a video anywhere that you can actually SEE Eddie making all those noises?

All this early VH songs just aren´t the same without michael anthony's backing vocals. They were really essential to their sound.
