When I was a kid even though Batman forever and Batman Robin were made with kids in mind batman returns was my favorite as kid, I still love it. I thought I couldn't get better than that, damn was I wrong. I can't wait for the Dark Knight rises, I hope it's similar to batman returns.
my favorite version is 1.batman return 2.batman and that's it. and yeah the bat mobile (1989) version is best. the bat suit (1992) version is real deal.
im 16 and i understand the concept of every movie i watch. i pay really close attention to the dialogue more than ever, plus how they look in the movie and a little of the background (but not that much), so what im trying to say is that im one of the only teens that really appreciates the whole experience of the movie, not just explosions or funny stunts like 2days audience wants, but really what the director wanted to be put in the movie.
I just Got interested in batman how do you think I could watch the older ones. I masking for the older ones because they seem like they'd be the hardest to get.
How do you think I could get these movies to watch for myself such as the 1989 version or just the older ones in general.I actually just got interested into batman.
I was 4 years old when I watched (Batman Returns was my 1st...) movie and watched it again all throughout until I was 8...loved it. And I'm a girl. AHAHA! 22 now and still lovin' Batman!
I think Batman Returns was the superior movie: the acting was brilliant (especially Danny Devito) and the overall look of the film was really felt like how Gotham should be.
Here is my ranking of the saga in this ascending order.
1- The Dark Knight- 9.5 Almost Perfect
2- Batman (1989)- 9.2 Great
3- Batman Begins- 8.8 Good
4- Batman Returns- 8.5 Acceptional
5- Batman Forever- 6.5 Moderate
6- Batman and Robin- 3.2 Malicious (The only thing that saved this film from being a complete disaster was Uma Thurman being so attractive. Aside from that this picture was a disgrace to the whole entire franchise. Even Chris O' Donnell referred to the production as dismal).
... every single person who reviews the Batman movies says most people prefer Batman Returns over the first Batman, while they say they prefer the original themselves - and the only person I know except me who thinks Returns is the best movie, is a real life friend of mine.
I forgot what to say about Batman Forever. It was my favourite Batman film as a child and it was the film that got me into Batman. It is still my favourite Batman film to date.
I felt the same about the first Batman. When I saw it as a child, I didn't like it. But I watched it a few years later and I started to like it. Yet somehow I liked Batman Returns and that was darker than the first.

Mask of the Phantasm is very underrated and nor appreciated at all, i would rank it 2nd or 3rd behind Nolans Dark Knight and maybe on par with Batman Begins
'Batman: 1989'- Great!: :) .; Better than 'Batman & Robin'.
'Batman Returns'- Better than 'Batman & Robin'.; Kept the same Batmobile, too.: :) .
'Batman Forever'- Better than 'Batman & Robin'.; Get rid of the Bat-ass shot near the end & the Bat-nipples on the Bat-suit. Other than that, I thought 'Batman Forever' was good.
'Batman & Robin'- (**Pulls out a shot-gun & shoots.**.).
'Batman Begins'- Better than 'Batman & Robin'.
'Batman: The Dark Knight'- Better than 'Batman & Robin'.
Batman Returns sucked. Catwoman was a slut, Peng was a pervert, and they really should have made Walken's character much darker. As it is, Penguin out creeps him, and as Walken is one of the creepiest actors in the business, it's just weird.
How could you diss Michael Gough, the actor who played Alfred? He was incredible, and he had the funniest lines.
I also liked BR better than B89, by FAR. And that licking scene was the sh*t. "ew?" "disgusting"? or the only movie where Batman has chemistry with his female counterpart?
I think it's called "Batman Forever" because of this quote at the end: "I'm not Batman because I have to be, but because I choose to be." As long as Bruce chooses to be Batman and continues wanting to be Batman, Batman will be around. That's how I see it, anyway.
I much prefer Michael Gough's Alfred than any other version. Although he still has a minor role in the movie he brought life to the character and feel more human. In the comics and the old animated series Alfred was close to a background piece that occasionally speaks a few lines.
Okay, maybe overrated is a bit harsh. But I do gotta have my Batcave. And say what you will about '89 Batman; Tim Burton and Anton Furst built a whole Gotham City from the ground up. The first time you see it in the movie, it looks cluttered, and congested, and dangerous.

The orginal Batman movie is still the best. Some people say that the movie looks dated now, it does, but that does not ruin the experience of the movie. The soundtrack is by far the best, everything is perfect. Giving the Joker an origin story did take away from the character, I like the fact that no one knows why the Joker is the way he is, which makes him more frightening. But, other than that, it is by far the best. Anyone who has not seen it should do so soon.
@woodsy1234567890 i agree with u completely about the legend batman movies, but just 1 minor thing, even a cheap BM movie like batman and robin is still better than twilight xD, twilight is the crap tht is eaten by crap, eaten agen by crap and is crapped out agen n agen WORST FILM SERIES EVER!!
@mon2908, No I'm not kidding. But I will say the best overall interpretation of Batman is not from the movies or the tv shows, its from the video games: Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City.
I thought one of the weak points of Batman Forever was the fact that the guy out to kill Bruce Wayne and the guy out to kill Batman *just so happened* to team up before either one ever found out his secret. Really? You're expecting us to believe that?
I look at Michael Keaton and Michael Gough and I instantly see Bruce Wayne and Alfred, that's why I liked them so much. I also liked how Batman was played as a man of little words and a lot of action, just like Superman in the classic cartoon series. Sure the plot of Batman and Returns weren't exactly flawless, but the surreal looks and the music made up for it in spades. As for Forever, people say it was more kid friendly but it was PG-13, my parents sure didn't let me watch it.
The only good thing in that film was Nicole Kidman, who was hotter and sexier that ever and managed to have a good (but not great) acting performance...
Batman Forever had quite a weak plot, Val Kilmer's way too over the top with his depressive attitude and the villains were ridiculous, especially Jim Carey. Carey's a great actor, but I don't know what happened to him in that film... And I agree that everything was way too colourful.I would give it only 1,5 stars, and that's being nice. This was a VERY tacky movie! Joel Schumacher SUCKS!!!!!
In my opinion, all batman movies are greats, well in the begining, Keaton and Burton were testing a dark side of batman, then Kilmer and Schumacher gave a diferent touch to batman. None of these three movies are different rating.
My one problem with The Dark Knight was that it was missing one key ingredient that kept it from feeling like a Batman movie. The Batcave. Yes, I know Wayne Manor was being rebuilt, but surely they could've shown a little bit of Bruce down in the caves, playing detective. Nolan loved Heat so much that he just made Heat with Batman and the Joker. I'm not saying it was bad. Far from it. Well made, well acted, superbly filmed, but overrated.
@HapaPapa7 I dont think it is over rated. Its a great take on Batman. It makes it seem almost plausible due to the 'heat' element you mentioned. Only until 2 face comes into play does it go a bit comic book. A great film.
In Batman Returns, the character played by Christopher Walken, Max Schrek was the name of a German actor who played Nosferatu in one of the first film adaptions of a vampire movie.
ranks of the batmans and bruce waynes Batman: Keaton: Epic Kilmer: Good Clooney: ugh Bale: Epic Wayne: Keaton: Not that good Kilmer: Good Clooney: okay Bale: Great this is just my opinion.
ive neen a batman fan since i was 2 years old. people made fun of me saying he's gay cause i liked him and i always ignored that
i was like no he's not.
and so since the dark knight came out a lot of people have said that there favorite
hero is batman after seeing it alot people i no dont like the other ones and they call themselves a batman fans itn fine that its there favorite hero but its like watever. they dont even read the comics.
Batman NEVER goes more than ten or so minutes without thinking about his parents' death. It's vital to his character. It sounds insensitive for you to call him "a whiny bitch". He was around ten or so years old when they were killed in front of his very eyes- I'm not a psychologist but I'm pretty sure that would be traumatizing. And I'm also pretty sure you WOULD need therapy for something like that.
Batman Forever has that title because Batman was conflicting on whether or not he was going to keep being Batman. This is due to his struggle to cope with his parent's death and hence the visits to the psychologist played by Kidman. In the end he decides he'll be Batman forever. The movie script left out this piece of the story or watered it down in favor of other superficial stuff.
Yeah, i know my english is pretty bad. I will work on it.
Well, i checked the other video the one I thought you were stealing from and actually theyre not very similar. I dont know, but when i saw youre video, i had a great feeling of Deja Vu. So take that as an apologie. I shouldnt have flamed you.
I just gotta say that my favorite batman movie by far is Batman Returns. I like the new movies, but I find them hard to compare with the ones in the 90s.
dude, batman returns is by far the best batman.. hands down! batman a very very close second.. the rest were horrible.. but 3 stars on returns... c'mon.. there is only one batman.. michael keaton.. dark night is nothing compared to these two
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You said that Michel Keton was the best ever to play Batman one film. Not only is that wrong because the best was kevin Conroy who played the dark knight in the Mask of the Phantasim. Keton is the worst person to play Batman ever. He is just going through the motions not acting. Plus what pissed me off about Batman Returns is that they made Selina Kyle insane and she is not. She is the only Batman villian to be sane. Also Catwoman does not kill. And for that matter NITHER DOES BATAN.
I agree with you that the original Batman is better than Batman Returns. The only real thing I like about Batman Returns is that Michael Keaton returned too, ha, ha. I also think Batman Forever was better than Batman Returns, though still not as great as the original.
I personally still prefer KEATON to BALE. When I see Bale in Batman Begins or Dark Knight, he just doesn't look assuming enough to be Batman.Keaton portrays the craziness/duality of Batman & Bruce Wayne much better. You're never sure whether Keaton will just completely crack or keep it together & save the day. Bale is always in control of the role & serious, we never get from him a conflicted duality for his personality as both roles. Plus his Darth Vader, Lion Roar voice is just plain annoying.
Bst batman movie is batman mask of the phantasm imo

The only good thing in that film was Nicole Kidman, who was hotter and sexier that ever and managed to have a good (but not great) acting performance...
Phastolph 2 years ago
Batman Forever had quite a weak plot, Val Kilmer's way too over the top with his depressive attitude and the villains were ridiculous, especially Jim Carey. Carey's a great actor, but I don't know what happened to him in that film... And I agree that everything was way too colourful.I would give it only 1,5 stars, and that's being nice. This was a VERY tacky movie! Joel Schumacher SUCKS!!!!!

I preferred Michael Gough over Michael Cain as Alfred. He was kind, and made his small remarks kindly.
Cain was too loud, noisy and cocky.

1 Batman. Villain: Joker, a mob criminal who is dumped into acid
2 Batman returns: Penguin (my personal favorite) a deformed kid turned adult out to kill all of the children of gotham
and Catwoman: a woman who is kind of like a CRAZY CAT LADY and is knocked out a window and then decides to become a cat in a way.
3 Batman forever Two face: good guy gone bad, split personaity
Riddler: jim carry... need i say more?
4 Batman and robin... im not gonna talk about this one... it sucked...

HapaPapa7 2 years ago 7
@HapaPapa7 hell yeah hopefully in batman 3 they'll have him in the rebuilt cave.. should be great

@HapaPapa7 I dont think it is over rated. Its a great take on Batman. It makes it seem almost plausible due to the 'heat' element you mentioned. Only until 2 face comes into play does it go a bit comic book. A great film.

@HapaPapa7 yes it was a great movie, very great, but it is overated. and i was expecting more

In Batman Returns, the character played by Christopher Walken, Max Schrek was the name of a German actor who played Nosferatu in one of the first film adaptions of a vampire movie.

wait...wait...at 9:01.
And I'm also pretty sure you WOULD need therapy for something like that.
anguirusreturns 2 years ago
Batman Forever has that title because Batman was conflicting on whether or not he was going to keep being Batman. This is due to his struggle to cope with his parent's death and hence the visits to the psychologist played by Kidman. In the end he decides he'll be Batman forever. The movie script left out this piece of the story or watered it down in favor of other superficial stuff.

A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite films.
The Shining was pretty good.
2001 was a spectacle, an enjoyable spectacle nothing more.
All of those films had some flaws.
like i listed those films, they are the flawless films.
Y2JROCKFAN 2 years ago
Two-Face is my favorite villain.
Chris Nolan made a mistake by killing him off that quick, the way he died was pretty lame too.
Also Bale's raspy voice did get annoying after a while, with saying that Bale is still the best Batman in my opinion.
But there are two films in my opinion that are flawless (ain't talking about continuation errors)
1.The Godfather
2.Once Upon A Time In America
3.Dog Day Afternoon
4.Apocalypse Now
Y2JROCKFAN 2 years ago

You said that Michel Keton was the best ever to play Batman one film. Not only is that wrong because the best was kevin Conroy who played the dark knight in the Mask of the Phantasim. Keton is the worst person to play Batman ever. He is just going through the motions not acting. Plus what pissed me off about Batman Returns is that they made Selina Kyle insane and she is not. She is the only Batman villian to be sane. Also Catwoman does not kill. And for that matter NITHER DOES BATAN.

i just saw Dark Knight yesterday for the 3rd time, i managed to find some flaws in it, my respect has gone down for The Dark Knight.
