He got dropped because his contract was up, and there were lots of companies that could have negotiated a contract with him at that point.

No he got dropped because he never had a contract with them to start with. He had a sponsorship not a pro contract. Fact is that sponsorship ran out and he waited too long to find a new sponsor. By the time he went looking (interbike) Mongoose was the only company with pro money left. (not knockoing mongoose)
