  • Horrible way to right Pam off. Even if they couldn't convince VP to stay, a better way would have been to kill Pam off WITHOUT them finding the body (ie, place crash, driving off a cliff, etc) or a body they can't identify but assume it's Pam (ie, in a fire). This way, she's gone, but the door is open to her return.

Yeah, this does sound like they were giving VP the bird.

  • This was a godawful ending for Pam's character. It's so unbelievably written, you can only assume the writers & producers were sort of flipping the bird to Victoria Principal.

It was Leonard Katzman and Larry Hagman who brought this mess on by insisting to bring back Patrick Duffy. They got a one-time blip in the ratings for the actual episode where Bobby returned, but then the ratings went back to where they were in the dream season - no improvement. And in return, they ruined the writing.

  • That Dr also was the sleazey guy who helped sue ellen find the Valentine Girl and helped her hire Mandy Winger..

  • I don't remember them ending Pam like this! I remember the Pam look a like, what Bob, saw for about four shows but, this same actor now I see playing Pam for real? This is the first time to see this clip, of Pam leaving Bob for a Doc. She just meet? Too over the top for this Die Heart Dallas Fan to believe. like I read someone say, just KILL HER! and besides I like the Pam look alike story line better and that's what I remember them showing and to top it off they used this same actor.

  • Pam isn't dead. Mark Graison is holding her captive in Colorado along with Dusty. This was all a set up by JR. Once Bobby catches on , JR will really wanna shoot himself. But Ofcoarse the writers don't know this plot so it will never happen.

  • This is completely out of character for Pam. I hated this scene too.

  • I wonder what the writers were smoking when they wrote this scene.

  • horrible end. pam loved bobby and cliff.

  • This scene actually makes me feel sick! Horrible, truly horrible...

  • ok what i dont understand is, if pam was southern (as far as i know), what happened to her accent after the explosion? did it go join fallon carrington's "american accent" after emma samms and her haughty british accent joined dynasty???

  • Dallas was perhaps the best soap opera for both genders to enjoy. The phrase "who shot JR?" was inspiring. (problem child had a trouble makinh kid called JR and south park used the phrase "who killed kenny") and the music to dallas was the best.

  • That was a bad way for Pam to go. I'm sorry. They should have talked V. Principal into

staying. She is marrying the doctor with a few months to live. Yeah. okay.

  • @LASHVEGAS09 She wasn't really marrying the doctor. She lied because she didn't want to hurt bobby, christopher, and cliff by coming back and dying soon there after. This was definitely a stupid idea. They should have just killed her off after the accident.

  • this part of the series could have been thought over much better, it doesn't make sense at all. She's still married and inlove with bobby before the accindent. Why would she leave him for the doctor and disappear once healed? Makes no sense at all.

  • This was awful! Pamela would have never left Bobby and Christoper this way! She loved him so much. They should of just left her dead

  • This was such an injustice the character of Pam! Even though! I hope in the new series they correct this if VP will allow, but what does she have going on anyway these days? Skin care? I don't want another FAKE PAM! MM's voice was too deep in places here, just bitching sorry!

  • i have full series of series 11 on dvd and this clip is not on series 11 its start of serie 12 this video.

  • I'm a die hard Dallas fan.. grew up watching the show every Friday night... I agreee that they should of left well enough alone and just let us think Pam disappeared

  • @lori8520 : news alert: TNT is doing a "remake" of dallas w/john ross and christopher battling against each other as well as dealing with southfork. just read it tonight. had to share. btw: dynasty prequel is in the works as well for the big screen. google it lol

  • was it april that went with cliff

  • this was an abhorrid ending for Pam....Pam always loved her brother and would never be this cold and callous as to tell him to "forget he ever had a sister....go and live your own life, that's what I'm going to do." ...Not to mention the fact that she would never leave her son behind, this was all kinds of awful

  • I never liked Pam after the third season. She always acted like a shrill harpie. Kinda dumb how she was whisked away, bandages and all. They could have at least extended VP stay to where she sees herself in the mirror all scarred up and has a mental breakdown and leaves. I guess that's what was suppose to have happened, but it never felt that convincing.

  • It's not the same Pam as the original...voice is deeper

  • there was no way in hell Pam would have just deserted her son Christopher just because of her accident. Her scars were not that bad. It was either season 3 or 4 she was manic depressant the entire season because she couldn't have a child and now she wants nothing to do w/ her only child. This is out of character. When Cliff leaves the office I get choked up.

  • @msmithstud AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MeiYen2010 personally, I think they should have recast her to play Pam. They probably could have pulled it off. Other shows have recast characters and gotten away with it without losing ratings.

  • @msmithstud I don't think she wanted to come back to the show. I don't think another Pam would have worked either. Bobby and Pam had chemistry just like JR and Sue Ellen. I wished she had come back to the show. They really needed her because toward the end the story lines got horrible.

  • @msmithstud

I do agree Margaret Michaels would have been perfect. Many Dallas characters were recasted: Jenna (Morgan Fairchild and Francine Tacker before Priscilla Presley) ) , Ellie (Donna Reed) , Kristin (first one was Colleen Camp), Gary (first actor was NOT Ted Shackelford, but David Acroyd) It's JUST soap! And any explanation is better than a "nightmare"..... And we all know Pam had a good reason to have a new face^^ I think Duncan Regehr could have been a good Bobby #2 on time...

  • No one can replace a key character, but she did a fine job and was (I guess) widely accepted among the Dallas fans. Among the daily soaps she would have made one of the best replacements.

I guess it was unwise of the producers to give her only a brief appereance.

Think about the lame stunt Dynasty pulled off when replacing Catherine Oxenberg with Karen Cellini (both beautiful, don't get me wrong but absolutely no look-alikes)

  • @opiumrebel The other problem was that Catherine Oxenberg spoke with a British accent, while Karen spoke with an American accent. Dallas would have been better off never showing Pam again after she left. And I think they couldn't kill her off because they already killed Bobby and brought him back with the dream season thing.

  • this is difficult to watch, seeing Pam tell her only living family that she never wants to see them again.

  • Hi!

Greets from the Freiburg-Chickenator to Victoria Principal (Pamela Ewing)!

30 years ago I saw Pamela, JR, Bobby and all the others many times also here in Germany!

I any case this serie must go on!

In my own filmstory "Princess Estefania" we will see "Pamela Ewing" again in 2017 - as the new President of the USA!

    ciao

  • LOL, all this time I thought Pam was trying to act very hard to be different. Then I find out it wasn't her all the time.

    Buwahahaha!

  • BTW, the actor playing Pam's doctor is the same actor who played the young Sam Culver (Donna's future husband) in 'The Early Years.'

Kercheval does a great job in this scene.

  • I think he also played a doctor of sorts on The Bold and The Beautiful - he was taking care of the girl who was supposedly Stephanie's and Eric's disabled daughter Angela.

  • The dream season was bad enough, but this storyline did it for me, and it was at this point that I stopped watching. It was such a goldmine in its heyday. What a shame the way they wrote this. Killing April Stevens when the show was coming back was just over the top.

  • I hated April being shot, just how much misery was Bobby meant to have.

As a result Dallas finished very downbeat.

  • I'm always wondering why Pam's so cold with her brother in this scene, it's a bit unrealistic thing

  • This is one of the many turns that turned the audience off to the series. Very unrealistic, no emotion, very cold. What makes a series great is the play on the little emotions that brings us there. You can tell the character of a writer by seeing his work. and whoever wrote this is a person immature in his or her emotions, a jr, high schoo mentality

  • is that vicktoria in this scene

  • No its a victoria lookalike!

  • Named Margaret Michaels.

  • was best pam looked, lol, victoria got greedy looking for more money,so hey ho it was a soap ...

  • I was pretty young when I first saw this (when it originally aired), maybe 8 or 9, but I remembered this scene almost verbatim. Funny how some things stick in your mind like that.

  • I thought the way they finished off Pam was horrible. They should have just killed her off. They should have never had this actress come back for this one scene in the iconic role Victoria Principal made famous. It was a horrible ending for Bobby and Pam

  • @manussa77 Pam is being held Hostage by Mark Graison in Colorado. She doesn't remember her life before the accident, nor does she remember Bobby and Christopher. This woman is an imposter and so is the doctor. They were both hired by Mark to deter the family away from Pam. After the accident pam was badly burned and suffured some serious head Trauma and lost her memory.

  • oh funny haha,

  • that is so bad!!! dident she realy marride a plasto surg at the end? nice one... i bet she put a lot of her creams after he tak and nip her... lol

  • It's so sad.

  • sorry typo there...MINGLING I meant to say.

  • ...instead of mongling with people like Pamela and or JR ewing and the likes of him...

  • cliff barnes doesn't have that 'millionaire look' or that aura of a 'ceo' he should have been playing a minor role such as a doctor or surgeon etc...instesd mingling with people who have an overabundant amount of cash.

  • god , that was so sad..the actor playing cliff ( ken k.) does such a fine job..he's a good actor...im glad the "2nd " pam is half lit, giving us the character..knowing we all miss and love victoria's pam..the producers knew better...

  • I think they should had recast Jaclyn Smith as Pamela

  • Oh such a wonderful idea! I love Jaclyn. They look alike too.

  • What's a wonderful idea? That actress playing Pam is Margaret Michaels, a Victoria Principal look-a-like.

  • Yes Pam had a very sad ending,I tyink after the Donna Reed Miss Ellie recast,Dallas chcickened out of recasting Pam in a permanent role.

  • Most of the fans would not have accepted a recast for Pam. Donna Reed/Miss Ellie was a disaster, and I liked Donna Reed - but she was AWFUL as Miss Ellie. When you have a show that is loved this much for so long by so many I have to say that the actors are indispensable. The show could survive without the character, perhaps...but never with a recast. They couldn't recast Pam any more than they could recast Bobby, Jock, JR, or Sue Ellen. Just impossible.

  • Yes know what you're saying just all so sad, poor Pam,good plastic surgery,Pam's car was blown to bits and she ends up with just a mark on the neck.

  • In real life people do not have plastic surgery and look (and sound) like a totally different person. That is just not possible except on soap operas. What I am saying is...Pam should either not have been blown to bits, or she should have just exited the show some other way making it possible for VP to return at a later date if possible. This whole storyline was as bungled as Bobby's death. Maybe even worse.

  • Fantastic!!

  • So sad! But she was dying! I think the Season finale for Season 9 should've been Jeremy Wendell's death. I never really liked him, he was a cheat, fraud, liar, and half-lunatic.

  • they should have recasted Pam with Pamela Sue Martin (Fallon from Dynasty)

  • That was a consideration at the time.

  • i read on wikipedia that they are writing a script for a third reunion film of Dallas that will include Pamela Ewing's return. So therefore I guess she never died.

  • michaels only looks like pam from a way a way, ckeck out the secound bit, michaels aint a bit like victoria, close up

  • man i think that's the same actress that play that pam look a like that had bobby going crazy before he hooked up and married april

  • It is the same actress.

  • thank you i thought so

  • This storyline never made sense. They should have used this actress to recast Pam and have her come back at least to see her own son.

  • So sad!

  • I fell so sorry for Cliff but a lam éndingen for Pam

  • I Know,Poor Christopher will never see his Mother again!!! how could a mother be so cold and distance herself from her son like that? that's just plain rude.

  • Little did Pam know that her eventual successor (April, Bobbys second wife) was outside in the corridor

  • A low key exit for Pam. She loves her plastic-surgeon doctor, blah, blah, blah.

  • I think this was a very bad way of writing Pam off the show. Pam would never be so fucking cold! But I have to say that Michaels does look a lot like Pam and she played her perfectly, exactly like Victoria Principal played her. The only difference is her voice. That's it.

  • In germany there was the same voice used for dubbing, so the illusion was perfect.

  • Pam was my favourite character and will be forever

  • Margaret Micheals will never be Pam Ewing...Victoria Principal FOREVER. :D

  • Right, and I think the producers realized this, which was why Ms. Michaels played Pam in this one episode only - just long enough to write the character out permanently.

  • I can't believe Cliff just accepts this and takes off in about three minutes. Pam claims she has a new life with her doctor; in actuality, she's dying, but Cliff doesn't know this. So why doesn't he insist on continuing to be part of her life, even if she doesn't want to come back to Dallas?
