my friend that was a great lesson i always look at you stuff i have learnth a lot and still learning the pentatonic scale is great to start with thanks man. keep on going
i have an epiphone dot and fender twin reverb. can you tell me what settings you have on your guitar and amp? your tone is awesome. thanks in advance.
hell yeah this added a lot to my guitar game!! thanks again marty!! i still suck but i am getting at least 4 hrs of playing in a day so if anyone out there has good advice for a rookie let me know. the only lessons i have had is martyz vids he is the best teacher i have found on youtube for sure!!!
I was wondering why in the other positions of minor Pent. in A when you change to second position the root is no more at the beginning how come it is still called A minor
@dragoneti67 It is the notes that define the scale not where the root is in the position. As you move into the other positions you are still playing the same notes, but it is important to know your roots in each position, so you can resolve your phrases to the root of the scale (A in this case). I personally would not bother with the stickers - you need to remember the shapes - not the exact notes - otherwise you'll be stuck in one key if you map out the notes of your A minor pentatonic.
@isayoldchap1 Thanks for the advice . I know a lot of guitar players who only rely on their ability to harmonize solos without applying any theory to it . But like some people say that is the monkey see monkey do ideology
that many guitar players like . Just limit themselves to learn someone else's licks .I just found out that my pentatonic solos sound so boring because I wasn't using hammer on's and pull offs
I suck at pentatonic scale improvising . I was wondering if you guys have tried putting stickers with the tones on the fretboard from Ebay I think they're called fretnotes .Any advice ?
Indeed the best teacher online. He makes it fun and educational! Thanks alot for these great vids that i even wanna show my friends who dont play jus cause its so awesome and it feels stupid to not share :D
Hey Marty keep doin it man your videos are a great help! There are alot of great players out there who can't teach for s%#t, but you are great at both! Thanks!!!
hey marty. you do know that there are multiple root notes in a scale. you can use those to play a call and response type solo. I think it might help alot if you tell some of your more beggining and intermediate solo players about that. It makes the solos sound less like a random collection of notes. instead it sounds like a true blues solo that has definate start and finish
so umm i watched basically watched all your videos on scales and i never got that the scales stayed the same shape cause in another video it was the a major scale and u started a whole fret behind it so it was 3 to 5 so i didnt know that the scale stayed the same shape even thought i still confused on how to place scales in some songs but u just helped me out a lot thanks
THANK YOU!!

ERunit1234 2 years ago
I was wondering this aswell.
Over1ord101 2 years ago
You can on any that has its root on the low E.
Leviskardsen 2 years ago
Yes you can, Marty shows it in a lot of videos using many different pentatonic scales.
The scales are all the same shape, only difference is where the root note is.
Got to try the hammer on and pulling off technique,
I already use the "extended" scales all the time as is (hint: it's easier to play)
