turn off the internet and give the quiz and you'll find they are actually dumber due to the fact they rely on computers to give them the answers. they don't have to worry about retaining information like pre-computer generations because the answers a only a couple of clicks away. so the illusion of them being smarter is just that. none of this is actually any of their fault, they are just the tail end of this ugly 60 year old experiment called capitalism.
As a teacher of many many years, I can only say that my students are bright intelligent and more creative than ever. I teach psychology of consumer behaviour and am no fan of capitalistic values or greed and over consumption. There may be some or even many who are in it for the money, but there are those of us who are in it for the love of art, music, creativity, learning and to make meaning and difference in a nicer world.
Heroicnerd..This Xer served in the U.S. Army for over a decade . I guess that makes me "heroic". Xers may be "sourpusses " to you, but atleast we weren't raised by Boomers or were coddled growing up. Did You ever get a trophy for finishing last in any competition? Watched Barney as a kid? Did your parents have "baby on board " on their Honda Oddysey? Lol ..plus you guys like originality in your songs, dances, clothes, and culture. Your tech does intimidate Xers.
@Svperstarr You are exactly Gen Y. The term originally came out to describe teens in the 90s.
"Gen X" was a term we labelled ourselves in the late 80s. A growing number of young people didn't relate to the elitism and social rules of the 80s, nor the macho insecurity of the 70s. Change was our theme from say 87-99.
In the midst of all this change going on was a new wave of teens, a post-POST Generation. Clueless and Kids are movies about Gen Y. Then you guys just brought back the 80s, heh.
@iunek1 first of all we haven't failed at all- you wait and see. second of all even if we did that wouldn't be "great".You are still a part of this world too and you shouldn't act like it would be soo great for all of the smart harvard inventors, doctors, scientists and lawyers to be working at mcdonalds. trust me when your and old lady/man in the hospital its gonna be us who help you and care for you. just trying to give an example that all you stuck up gen x's need us

I'm generation Y. I love my life, I love my friends, and I love the fact that I'm 20 years younger than that sourpuss generation X.
