Other than Venom (who's influenced by punk) Slayer pushed the envelope by taking it to the next level, that's all. Bands like Dead Kennendy's,DRI,Verbal Abuse,etc are to blame for alot of Thrash Bands.

But its a fact that if you look at the reviews for Christ illusion (daves welcome back album) alot of the reviewers said Daves drumming was outstanding. the reason for that albums Grammys..whatever they get for best songs. 45% was Daves drumming and 18% each for Arya, King and Hinamen for that albums grammys.

I think slayers Great. My favorite band, Ill say this, King, and Hin dont really stray from the riffs and solos that got them to where they are. and thats fine. i think thats awesome. some bands turn to shit after they try new stuff. look at slipknot, crap now. they got radio fever and dont play nearly as good as they did. But King and Hin are still great but Christ illusions sounded like God hate us all, Divin inter, and some seasons in the abyss in Guitars, and Dave moved forward. ;) i think.

Seasons of The Abyss and Reign In Blood definitely their best albums along with Show No Mercy. Christ Illusion had it's good moments but World Painted Blood I still haven't found a single song on that cd that I DON'T like. For anyone wanting all of the best Slayer shit thought, I highly suggest buying their box set Soundtrack To The Apocalypse. It has all their best songs on it, both original and remixed and remastered. There's a few songs on the box set that they covered too.
