  • gord is.... different

  • "...some they're not anti-social enough...that's right!"

  • Bring out your Dad!

  • lawn cut by bare-breasted women @1:34

    :P

  • Probably the only example in Rock history of a band choosing to be the voice of a country instead of chasing American exposure. It could never have worked out better.

  • Matthew Good was watching greatness...so was one of my x girlfriends...titty shot around 1:20. haha

  • cant wait to see them on canada day!!!!!

  • Matthew Good can be seen watching arms-crossed in the background on the 1-shots of gordie. he's in a white t-shirt and wearing sunglasses

  • @dunphish

I love matt good, i wonder if he played there as well

  • We drove 16 hours for the Hip that summer.

  • 1:35 boobs!

  • I SAW BOOBS thereboobsinthisvideo

  • rob baker is a fuckin beast, one of my favourite guitarists

  • @heterosexualman. first of all i can't believe you're the one who owns that handle. second i think you may be right. but i haven't double checked your assertion yet. either way kudos man. that's huge. if you haven't already check out west wind cookie factory.

  • I don't know, but I've...I've been watching him with binoculars. He's really strange!

  • The Hip sizzled here!!!!!!!!!

  • I WAS RIGHT THERE WITH MY QUEBEC FLAG :))

  • The ending rant is part of what would be lyrics for "The Bear" off of Music @ Work!

  • This is just such smash out of the park. Hits like a fucking locomotive.

  • whats up with comparing the hip to the doors.two different genres.plus jim morrison was a fucking drunk pretentious coward who hid behind vague lyrics ,like some fucking weird goth kid.this band has been going longer than the doors and almost longer the jims life .guys like gord got real art real poetry real stories and pack a set and dont wimp out to join the 27 club

  • You'd think more people would know about them from playing Woodstock. Then again it's a good thing that Americans haven't swiped the Hip away from us. They stole Hockey and bought out The Bay but thank god the Hip are still 100% Canadian.

  • Jesus playing in a Canadian band :)

  • bring out your dead!!! hahahaha

  • GO HIP! TITIES AT 1:35

  • Tragically hip-54-40-Rush-Guess who-Neil young-Steppenwolf Canada is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Go Canada! Even though I'm from Argentina, these guys, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell... Wow you do have some good music up there in the North!

  • what does weary caravan mean?

  • 1:09 so awesome to see the new bruinswick flag flying LONG LIVE THE MARITIMES

  • @harmankardon5862 I'll look for that. Grew up in N.B.

  • Nice tits

  • The greatest Canadian band EVER. Period.

  • @kingsteve55 Well, them and Rush.

  • holy moly titties at 1:35!!! There definitely for gord

  • those mosh pitting 'tards dont deserve this

  • @royalnash And you're probably one of these dorks that likes Kid Rock or Shania Twain or Lady Gaga or Britney Spears or Aerosmith or name your stupid popular band of the moment. Some band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame in Cleveland, OH. They for some reason don't feel like the greatest rock band in history, Foghat, doesn't deserve induction in to their R&R Hall of Shame.

  • 1:35 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOBIEEEES

  • IMO The Hip were one of the highlights of Woodstock 99. They really brought the true spirit of the original Woodstock to their show and were a sign of good things to come for the festival until bands like Limp Bizkit destroyed it.

  • I was at Woodstock and the Tragically Hip started at noon on Saturday. It was something like heaven!

  • @BirdLivesInMe Was the show extremely loud?

  • @bwho No. Not at all. What a vibe! Loved the Canadian flags and the intensity of the band and the crowd at NOON! The opening with Grace, Too was great. I worked a good part of Woodstock (I live 2 miles away), but this was my chosen break period where I got to see the Hip, Counting Crowes and Dave Matthews Band.

  • Robbie Baker A1

  • LMAO Love the Canadian flags going, Kingston boy here, always loved the Hip. Great rock 'n Roll not enough bands out there just playing the real thing anymore.

  • The boogies-blues break at the end of this video while Gord rants/raps/blabs is pristene in its rock and roll blues beauty. You might not think of da blues as related to The Hip but they really are a blues-based rock band. Great tune!

  • like the "bring out your dead" holy grail reference he slipped in there.

  • yeah wildthing said it all, all Canadian tv and radio stations have to play a percentage of Canadian content, thus, any band that isnt the flavor of the month probably wouldn't be aired in the States as they do here. still hard to believe "New orleans is sinking" was banned in the states during Katrina, why on earth would any American radio station play that during such a crisis.

  • Luv the Canadian flags!

  • lol s

  • boobies at 1:34

  • gord downie is so energetic, funky, and talented its ridiculous (the whole band too of course... long haired dude rocks out, i love it!) seeing all the canadian flags flying in the air must make it so worth it for them! THE HIP RULES!

  • Awesome song from The Gord!

  • so fucking canadian. i may be in a metal band but i sure as hell appreciate good music no matter where its from but when its home grown its even sweeter.

have a friend from the us never heard of the hip. got him into them and he saw them about 5 times while he was up here playing juniors.

THE HIP!!!!!!!!!! keep rocking guys love you guys cheers!!!!

  • I live in Buffalo, NY, and for the life of me I cant understand how The Hip is not huge down here. They are one of the best, if not the best band in the world.

  • I know some people in the States that know them and are hardcore fans but its so weird how they go from arenas up here in Canada to small clubs.

And you are right, one of the best bands in the world maybe even the best.

  • i dont really think they worry about a huge american following.,.they are canadian thru and thru..cud be cause americans cant appreciate them like canadians can due to all the canadian content in there music..

  • @TheBryant13

In the U.S., the closer you are to the border, the more likely you know them. Take Day For Night. I can think of an album, also released in 1994, by a certain U.S. quintet that was the 2nd-fastest-selling record at the time, but, I think that was more of a carryover from that band's previous album from 1993. Day For Night shits all over that other band's 1994 LP, but, for whatever reason it never took off in the U.S. like I thought it would. Same goes for both bands' 1998 LP's.

  • @Fakename70 "closer you are to the border," I live in Alabama, and not only have I heard of them for over a decade, I own a few of their albums. The only real setback for the band is the radio stations never played their music. Thats a common setback for bands in the states, as it is abroad. They should video tape a show in my state, sell it, and I bet you their southern following would triple in a about a year. Just ask Train and John Mayer.

  • @zzRider As a Canadian, I think it's awesome that someone from Alabama likes the Hip. I've travelled the world and whenever I meet a Hip fan abroad, I feel so proud.

  • a canadian poet..who rocks.....nice

  • This makes me so proud to be Canadian!!!

  • same :P

  • @rocksweat why? because it rocks? or do the lyrics mean something I don't know of......?

  • Just have to say, wether it is today or 20 years ago, the hip rocks! love the music but live rocks the best!

    dd

  • fuck ya CANADA stand the fuck up!!!

  • AMENNNNN Brother!!!!

  • Does anyone know if there are any more vids of The Hip at Woodstock? I can only seem to find two or three?? Thanks

  • fucken eh Canada and The Hip is the shit

  • To bad only big busted women get laided.

  • CANADA IS DA MUTHA FUCKIN SHIT BOIIII

  • how am i a disgrace to canada,if anything you are,so shut your hole if you know whats good

  • damn dunners old or something

CANADA...got lucky being born in this amazing country :D

  • Does anyone have a clue what the backing vocals in this song are?

  • haha i dont have a clue man

  • well the doors are an awesome group and the hip used to be a cover band for the doors...

  • haha 'bring out your dead'

  • hold those flags high best country best band

  • saw the hip @ pemberton fest last week ..SO GREAT!!! ...swear to friggin god they dont age

  • the hip rule...yet ol gord is a weirdo..lol..saw them at gm place in vancouver and he sat in front of fay's kit with a towel over his head and spun in circles mumbling some gibberish...hahah good times

  • the hip and rush 2 sweet canadian bands

  • the hip play a great show. they come to Vancouver a couple of times a year and no matter how many times i see them i always keep going to their concerts. they get the crowd pumped and into it every show

  • the Canadian Doors? Please. The Doors sucked and The Hip Rules!!! If ANYTHING, The Hip are the Canadian Eagles, but I wouldn't be able to defend that comment. The Hip, Hockey, and great fishing; the top three things this American loves about our neighbor to the North.

  • i love the hip they dont touch the doors...sorry.....

  • they outlived the doors and put out a shitload more solid songs, so i don't know what you want to compare.

  • ha well ur right, u can't defend that eagles comment, or the doors one in my opinion, but ya hip and canada are great, but i hav to say that it's impossible to compare the hip to anyone. The Hip are The Hip. They're their own breed, eh?

  • bring out yer dead...nice

  • paul and gord, "and i, cant find, the time, to mind" man thats f@#en awesome

  • Just one more reason to be proud about being Canadian.

    Hip Rules

  • bare breasted women.......kinky

  • god u gotta love that music it fucking kicks ass we kick ass music wise and hockey wise long live CANANDA! MATT

  • this band kicks so much ass its like holy shit

  • What a song !!! Love it !!!

  • that singer realy likes to ramble and rhyme random stuff

  • The Canadien Doors.

We don't have Briere or Drury, but we're gonna sign the Hip!

  • they're huge here in Buffalo, too bad they're not as cheap as before. lyrics are really good and those who know know. might sound weird if u don't know who they are.

  • In Canada, every knows and loves The Tragically Hip. They are a fantastic band who have come out with great songs for the last 25 years and are still great. I saw them live and they're great!

  • I didn't hear of the Hip until I went to school in Potsdam, NY (practically the Canadian border), they are HUGE around the area. We are trying to get them to play our school, but they ask a fair amount of money.

    THE HIP ROCK!!!

  • funny that so many people haven't heard of the hip, in Canada they've sold out huge venues for 15 years... t

    they're practically a household name

  • Comment removed

  • he's not jewish

  • alot of Bruce Springsteen's songs are about things wrong in the country. Born in the USA was in part a tribute to Springsteen's friends who had experienced the Vietnam War, some of whom did not come back; it also protests the hardships Vietnam veterans faced upon their return from the war.

  • crap

  • Listen to your My Chemical Romance and fuck off.

  • man ive never heard of this band b4 but they're pretty damn good

  • go buy, Up to Here, Road Apples, Fully Completely and Day for Night" you'll love all of those albums, guaranteed!!

  • cheers man

  • and if you get the chance, see them live. it's 10x's better than the albums! plus you get the theatrics of Gordie!

  • LOL. I saw them live, they only played three songs (it was at Live 8 Barrie) and they were really good, they brought Dan Akroyd in to play Poets. They also played Ahead By A Century and My Music At Work. Amazing set.

  • sorry, scratch that. I just realized they cut off the ending of mine too. Bummer

  • These canadian boys can perform like no other
