@ed3432 That's as assininely stupid as saying "The only good Indian is a dead Indian", or "The only good Jew is a dead Jew" or "The only good American is a dead American". Especially when it only really demonstrates that you have not the slightest clue of what a Nazi, or Indian or American is.
@flightrulez over 300? in ww1 he shot down around 62. and he was second in the list, right after the red baron. udet took over the squadron when the red baron was killed.
@germansascha Is that so? I always believed that it was Goering who took over the squadron after Manfred's death...Could it be that he took over it temporarily?
ernst udet became a luftwaffe general a few years after this but the poor man didnt have the time to fly anymore,he got depressed and shot himself,i wish he had not done that and survived the war. that man didnt deserve to die. well greetings from holland!
Udet was a great pilot. Not as heinous as other nazis. But------as they say, The only good nazi is a dead nazi.

Udets friend Carl Zuckmayer, wrote after the war the book "des Teufels General",
which explained the curios circumstance of Udets dead. He was no politcal man and never a real Nazi.
