He mentions the Toronto "garbage strike" being settled in record time. Remember, that is CUPE Local 416 and includes ALL city workers, including Toronto paramedics. So, a paramedic strike in Canada's largest city has come and gone during the time period of the BC strike. The difference is that BC has a province-wide service.
You mean these folks are being forced to work on their days off???.....WTF is that??
How can any Goverment or a Court of law even allow that???..I have spoken to some firefighter friends who tell me that these Paramedics work 2 days,2 nights & then 4 off...but...they are up all night long doing calls sometimes with no break till the early am..& now being forced to work on their days off to boot???Someone better tell the BC gov to grab a brain & pay these people what they desrve...& then some!
Thank you all. I quit BC Ambulance but would like to see everybody who is still toughing it out get what they deserve - a fair wage for the 2nd most dangerous profession (Worksafe BC statistics), and an adequately funded ambulance service that our province can be proud of.

Paramedics with the Chicago F.D. are forced to do the same all the time, the Mayor won't allow more medics to be hired here.
