I am desperately looking for this song on itunes to buy, but i cannot find it! anyone can help? is it under a special name, other than "black rain theme"? can i find it anywhere else? thx!
Very lush, dripping with class. From a time when the footage they shot, it was honest, no cgi, yet they had benefit of all the evolution of real film decades of the industry could master.
Drama that approached pretentious, but backed off a notch leaving the story to stand on its own.
Douglas was on a roll in those days- hell we all were.
What cost to roll back time 22 years? Ask again in 2033, our fortunes are always now.
After I saw this movie back in the day this became 1 of my favorite movies,Andy Garcia and Michael Douglas became some of my favorite actors and UB40's version of The Way You Do The Things You Do became 1 of my favorite songs
This movie is definately in my top five of all time. I get goosebumps in that scene at the end of the movie where Nick gives the money plates to Masumoto. Absolute classic.
This flick without question is one of the best i have ever seen to date. U have seen this flick one too many timea and I was blown away at the uniqueness of this flick in terms of where it was set as well as the deep emotion from Charlie's death.
I love this movie and I highly recommend it to everyone who wants one of Michael Douglas' or Andy Garcia's shining moments.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I love the instrumental version of this song. I did read that Yasaku Matsuda died. What a terrible loss to the film industry. I also love the guy who played the Japanese cop Mas. This is truly a great film about friendship!
You have found the "musical fingerprint"(that is what I call it), as I did the last time I saw the film. It is the same composer who has made the score to MGS. he uses some of the same chords and instruments as in MGS.
Yeah, although I was only like 6 y.o back then, I remember it was a phenomenon when this flick came out in Japan. Now, it's considered a legend.
Although this film is a little inaccurate about Japan, it is not offensive to Japanese (well, at least to me) at all. In fact, many of us think Japan portrayed in this film is more exotic and actually even cooler than the actuality.
Yeah, where are all the good times with all the good movies, action heroes and music... I guess to say 'back to the roots' is a bit harsh, nevertheless they could put a little more effort in trying to do such good movies again. The 80's and 90's were... the best ^^
Yeah there was a particular brand of action back then, that felt more real somehow. Now it's like fifty bajillion cameras on set focused on close ups of fists and eyes, back then it seemed more paced somehow, I dunno. Can't explain it.
80's and 90's had the best buddy action flicks. So many great stars teamed up to make buddy movies. Now it seems there is usually only room for one star. Maybe I'm a goon but I miss the buddy action movies and watch them everytime they're on :)

Why did the 80's and early 90's hit such a creative vein? Most of the famous and symbollic pictures are from those periods. Sadly good acting and context has been replaced by digital effects. Sad really.
I don't know what people see in this high budget crap. No good script, younger and younger and definitely bad actors and tons of special effects. It's like collective brain-wash. "Hey, you want to be a retard, it doesn't cost much, just go to the movies!". Christ, what we have become?
this movie is full of good clues about many topics, the music, the action, the plot, the atmospheres...all is perfect! one of the best movies ever made, and absolutely the best of ridley scott's. no one ever painted so well the differences between the two cultures...just incredibly beautiful movie!
nowadays just the trailers make me want to keep away from cinemas. all those super-ripped super heroes in tights have abused the screens, and people like to go to the cinema to watch senseless bullcrap... i'm getting to think what my english litterature teacher used to stat: cinema is a conventional art!
where have the good times of point break, american beauty, back to the future and black rain gone?
It's not among Ridley Scott's best, but it's still a solid action drama. The score alone is head and shoulders above most music in action movies nowadays - really emotional and memorable. Good music is always a big plus in my movie experience.
I think a lot of the reason this movie was not highly thought of was because it was closer to the action formula that guys like Stallone or Schwarzenneger had been using for most of the decade. If this movie came out 5 or 6 years earlier, I think people wouldve liked it a lot better. But people overlook that theres better acting in this movie than most of the 80s action movies.

★Black Rain is substantially Blade Runner2. Ridley Scott failed to make a Blade Runner set in Japan.
So he retried it at Black Rain.
As a matter of fact, Ridley Scott was going to make a film like Black Rain in which
many Japanese played and location is Japan, as Blade Runner.
★Yes, for Ridley Scott, Black Rain is the true Blade Runner and Blade Runner is a fake one.
