The Shibata Family is known for shooting at Sanjusangendo and as bow makers. The style is not self made. Though its deviation from the Chikurin-ha seen commonly in Japan may make it seem different, it is a legitimate style of kyudo.

This is not Chikurin-ha. It is "jikoryu" - self-made style.
