  • Imma run some cleaner through mine and change oil and hope it fixes it mine has about 30 psi oil pressure and ticks then it gets warm stops ticking and drops oil pressure to about 15 psi idk ill guess I will find out

  • Lifter Issue, these things and the Vh41s were chronic for it

  • sounds like a lifter issue

  • Oh man, I know this vid is old, but I bet it was rod knock--sounds just like when my S13s KA went out--I know for sure my z32 has lifter tick, and this isn't what it sounds like!

  • i would say exhaust lk and a rod knock 99 percent sure run thick oil in it and fx the leak if you care enough about the noise

  • Oil pump is really bad, didn't make the noise with the old thick oil, now with new clean oil at idle both noises bearing and lifter are caused by bad oil pump. don't drive fix the pump asap.

  • ok sir OP .. the first noise it lifter for sure..but after u done reving .. it also have a knock knock knock .. and that not good at all..

  • Two things I think. Just a loose lifter. When you give gas it stops so it could be a weak oil pump when give gas pump works more to get the oil on top of lifters. Somthing to check. Just giving a little advice just trying helpout. I could use a little myself I'm going to change the headgaskets in my audi90 1993 at this moment. That's why I was searching on YouTube I saw your video so I checked it out. I'll take any advice Highly apriciated thanks!!!!

  • just a tappet on the overhead cam nothing ever to worry about i garrantee that it will go many more thousands of miles till you forget to replace a timing belt and ruin it .

  • sounds like a down payment on a new vehicle to me.

  • hi did u find out exactly what the noise was? Mine sounds the same

  • hi did u find out exactly what the noise was? Mine sounds the same

  • get a filter from dealer

  • Valve Lifters?

  • Hydrolic lifter or rocker leaking down due to clearance wear or bad check ball and creating unwanted clearance at low RPM. Rev and extra oil pressure goes up to compensate and providing more oil pressure to close the clearance. Order replacement lifter or rocker from part from supplier and replace = 2 hours labour. Some guys try to put and engine cleaner in the crank case to clean bad lifter or rocker but a bad idea on an expensive engine like this.

  • ive got the EXACT same sound

it disapears when throttle is engaged

im hopeing for both our sake its not a rod bearing

  • i have the same problem now. how did you fix this. im getting scared now

  • lifter lifter lifter

  • Sounds quite a lot like one valve-lifter thats leaking oil inside. (if it´s hydraulic valve-lifters)

  • Clock????

  • Yeah, valve lifter. tick, tick, tick ,tick. and consistently so.

  • sounds like a lifter collapsed !!! for this i use motor flush for 5 min then rev to 4 rpms for 1 min straight , most times the noise will be gone by then ,, after that change the oil and add Lucas oil treatment and rev engine to 3 rpms for 2 min

. lifters are hydraulic and need oil pressure to stand up. check your oil pressure . lifters so you don't burn a valve ,,,,

this will clean and restore oil pressure

  • I dont recommend any thing for Z1 because they replaced an engine for me and it ticked the same. I took it back and the told me I need to replace the tranny to fix the engine noise

  • you need a valve adjustment

  • lifters

  • yes I used the same quality in everything, as well as original oil filter

  • my opel astra started doing the exact same thing after I did an oil change. Oil light comes on while engines running. The weird thing is, it started doing it after the oil change, same day. I had the correct type of oil too. Still havnt figured out what it is yet

  • You used the right weight as well as correct quality (mineral/fully synthetic/whatever you had in before)?

You changed the oil filter at the same time?

  • sounds like a combination of lifter bleeding out and a connecting rod knocking.Pull the oil pan out and check th rods for any play, thee shouldnt be any.

  • sticky lifter....quart of rislone should clean it out so it will stay "full" of oil

  • its not knock its the hydraulic lifters. They make noise when they've gone bad or when oil is low. Change your oil and see what happens. If you run it like this for a while damage can become permanent whereas a speedy addition of oil can save it.

  • timing tensioner loosen already

    tighten it up

  • air in a hydraulic tappet.

  • when you use an engine cleaner use a quart of diesel fuel as well. it helps clean your engine out to near perfection

  • If its the rod bearings then it doesn't matter if you step a il on the gas the noise will get louder if its lifter by stepping on the gas the noise will go away as the oil pressure goes up!!

  • yeah, these nissan motors are picky about being clean. You have to run clean fuel and clean oil all the time or you'll develop a miss or a tick or something similar. I had a Q45 and it would develop a miss if I didn't change the oil every 3,000 miles, even though I was running synthetic.

  • After some advice by others I think it's lifters. It stops as you rev as oil pressure increases...oh well, probably time for an oil change.

  • when you reved it a bit it stopped knoking so it could be a piston knoking on the side of the cylinders but I am no mecanic so it could be something else. My bike did the same thing. My Z never did anything like that thow so their is a good chance I am not right.

Fix it thow, those Z's are the best!

  • are you talckinmg about the tick? if so i use a z1 motorsport engine cleaner and my engine is so quit now after that z1 recommended me just using shell gas to keep the lifters and other components clean.
