She started the model's technique in 1936 and brought her training in Modern Dance, Russian Ballet and knowledge of the classical and modern arts obtained in museums into the technique. She was 5'7 and had brown hair, but her face and body were extraordinary. Her career lasted until the early 1960's and churned out 200 covers of Vogue. By today's standards she would be considered old.

I blame the youth obsession of the 1960's for limiting the amount of work pioneers and legends could obtain. Today the sophisticated face is not popular though the very youthful face is.

Wow, they are full of so much motion. Many of these designs are timeless & can be put back on the runway. Chanel also had interesting runways back then too. Also, the models love exaggerating the clothing, like throwing around the jackets, haha.. But the bags, are so beautiful, they still look the same & timeless..

love watching these.. everyhing has changed.. the photographers are not anymore on both sides of the runway and models don't even pose anymore in some runways .. and ifthey do is a 3 seconds pause

Look at how Susan Holmes commands the runway at 6:00. She was a relative newcomer at the time, but she just takes over. Also, nobody can beat Yasmeen Ghauri on the runway. She has such presence at 1:00. Naomi is probably the only girl that could compete with Yasmeen on the runway.

It's ashame Karl does not bring them all back for just one show, rather then bringing back the odd few like Linda, Naomi, what about bringing Yasmeen,Stephanie R, Emma S,Patricia H, Carla, Karen, Marpessa all back too...it would be fantastic! to see them all working the runway again!! I do miss the Supermodels, I went to London Fashion Week, and saw a few shows, the models were lifeless, lank and were just like zombies - bring beauty and glamour, power back!

Ive seen Cindy Crawford do Chanel several times. I would love to see all the original girls like cindy linda naomi claudia and christy do Chanel soon. Karl Lagerfeld is pure genius and some of the current girls dont do Chanel justice. They have no presence on the catwalk. COME BACK SUPERMODELS!
