Seriously, do you know ANYTHING about slavery? About how families were sold apart and broken up, how slave women were raped by their captors, the brutality of the beatings etc? The only reason blacks haven't prospered as much as some other ethnic groups is because of the vast discrimination they faced all through the 20th century. You can't put in place racist laws and unequal education and then complain when blacks don't prosper.

They faced discrimination because they were a foreign people and were thrown with people with a completely different culture and lifestyle. Forced together. That always creates conflict. The best thing for black people would have been their own country. Feds won't allow that anymore.

Many black people DID reuturn to Africa- google "Liberia". It did not work out well as they were as foreign there as white Americans would have been. Do you suggest all Italians or Irish Americans go back to their country of origin? I think trying to say slavery wasn't so bad is pathetic, it's like denying the holocaust. Actually, slavery in the Americas (and yes, I agree this includes Spaniards) was more widespread than at any other time in history. It was also one of the only times that the slave could never become a full citizen even if they gained freedom (as happened in Ancient Rome and elsewhere). It's not about "blaming" whites, it's about aknowledging this awful thing happened. I don't blame todays Germans for the holocaust, but I wouldn't forget it happened either.

Africans invaded Europe and conqured, enslaved and oppressed for over 800 years before Charlamainge drove them out.

I didn't learn about slavery in school, I've learnt about it from studying history and reading first hand accounts of slaves. Yes natives had slavery, but not nearly to the same scale, and slaves often married out of slavery or escaped to to their tribe. Not possible for black slaves. I assume by 'Africans' you mean the Ottoman Empire (which was Middle Eastern ethnically). Yes that happened, but how does that justify black slavery in America? You should read 'Beloved' by Toni Morrison.

The imported slaves in the US numbered 500k from begining to end. The slaves were captured mostly by Black enemy tribesmen and sold first to Blacks on the west coast then to slavers bound for many ports. Slaves imported into South America numbered 10 times that of the US. Slaves captured and held by American Indians numbered many times more than those in the US. It was Western Civ. that emancipated slaves and outlawed the practive in their jurisdictions.

Actually, whites forced blacks in Africa to take and sell enemy tribes as slaves by threatening to take them as slaves if they didn't. I don't know where you get your facts from but it's common knowledge that slavery is the Americas (north and south, stop trying to pretend it's ok that the USA had slaves because Brazil did to. It means nothing) was the largest scale in human history, and also had slaves kept in the most appalling conditions.

THEY CONSIDERED THE CONSTUTION FOR WHITES ONLY. To this very day, my elderly aunt loves to tell the story of the time she was on the train in the wrong dining car line w/ the whites. The conductor pulled her & her gf out of line, took them to the black dining car, where they were served right away..lol. The whites, on the other hand were still in line waiting and they were angry. My aunt chuckles & says, "Hey, we were served the exact same food!" That's one time when Jim Crow actually worked in the blacks' favor :)
