I read this book in the 90s, borrowing it from local library, but Hancock's website and wikipedia both say published 2005 with no mention of earlier publication. Am I in a time warp ?
The reason humans took the great leap forward is that they started drinking redbull,, got all hyped up and started painting shit on the walls and burying their dead and smearing ash and woad on their face. Bit like a rave but without the glowsticks.
This guy is fascinating & I shall search out his books. I remember hearing this particular interview (been listening to C2C for years) & just heard him again... He is one of the most stable, enlightened and informative (and POSITIVE +) guests I have ever heard on Coast To Coast AM... Great work Graham - just registered @ your Forum, minutes ago. (PeaceOfficer1)
no no no, I dont accept millions of years of ape like people with no innovation and then suddenly this birth of itnelligence. What evidence is this founded on. he is saying at 40,000 bc there is a wave of whatever, no i dont accept this at all. I believe the ape man links etc are rooted in ignorance
@facciaditosta The idea that in a relatively short amount of time, Neanderthal was replaced by Cro Magnon is pretty radical. Hancock is very careful to back up his claims. What do you base yours on?
@facciaditosta not birth of intelligence....birth of spiritualism/religion. his meticulous research also suggests that neanderthals and homosapiens are not directly linked, just related like lions and tigers - 2 different species from the same family of species
@facciaditosta I can only guess that you are implying that we where either put here by some higher intelligence or somewhere down the line our genetics where tampered with? Both have evidence to back them up, i guess it's all on what you are willing to accept as enough proof. All i can say is Darwin was wrong as are the fundamentalist christians (and majority of all religions) so we now need a new explanation for how we have come to be.. and Graham Hancock is a cog just like a few others.
Hancock is a genius, doesn't mean he's right 100% of the time, but he's a brilliant thinker nonetheless.
Fact is, none of us know the true history of the planet. Everyone from mainstream scientiests to alternative thinkers are making intelligent guesses so believe what You want.
Just know that it is much easier to acculturate oneself and philosophy with the mainstream global market system. Its more profitable to be a mainstream douchebag (Seacrest makes $50 mill/year) than original thinker.
The mystery starts to becomes clear when you research Graham Hancock's net worth. $130 Million Dollars. All made by writing about a 'forgotten past'. He must be laughing his tits off as his cracks open another bottle of champagne each night with his young bitches massaging his ego.
His books are entertainment, mostly fiction, mixed with a little fact to give the uneducated hope that there might be some meaning to their pathetic lives. I guess you're in that group.
@AndreHiltre For someone so "educated" you sure are close-minded. The more knowledge you gain, the more you realize that you know absolutely nothing about the possibilities in world around you. Only uneducated people are so sure that others are wrong. Keep an open mind. PS. The only answer to "Is something Possible?" is "I can't know, maybe, or sure it is."
No, I just know enough about archeology and history to be able to spot several factual errors Hancock has made. What makes me suspicious is that I dont think they are mistakes. I think he starts with an idea for a good best seller, then digs for evidence to support his hypothesis. Anything that fits with the theory is kept in, anything that contradicts his theory he buries of discards. This method allows a writer to create almost any theory to make money.
@AndreHiltre That's why it's always important to do your own research and come to your own conclusions. My conclusion: anything and everything is possible.
I like to look at many theories and judge what I think is valid and what isn't. And Hancock has a unique perspective that someone could use as a platform for his original thoughts and analysis. But I respect your opinion and look forward to reading your own book someday.
Thanks. I do believe that there was civilisation of some significant level of development long before 3000BC. I agree with Hancocks point that the history of human architecture would not start with the pyramids. These would be the pinnicle of centuries of learning and civilisation. I may write a book however on the true origins of the human race, which is something not properly understood today.
Newgrange in Ireland was built thousands of years before the Pyramids. Have you seen "Hidden History of the Human Race" on you tube? Interesting stuff.
@andrewshaw80 You kind of idiots always amaze me! People are debatig serious subjects and concepts, and you pick out typos and spelling mistakes! You are a child.
