i would go with m17x, the designs are bolth sweet exterior wise, and the parts bolth terrific interior

but m1730 isn't even available on dells site currently + m17x gets a kickup graphic-wise i believe?, so better for gaming.

mhm, hard choice between the 2, but m17x seems to be winner, and usually you can find a site that cuts a few hundred off price, like best buy had for awhile

1530 is a good power laptop, however it was a too much of a compromise. Not *that* portable and not *that* power full. The 1730 is powerfull, and the 1330 (my wife has) is portable.

Yeah, I'm kinda waiting, Vista 32 will only used the first 3gb, and the memory the XPS comes with isn't the fastest, so I *could* update to 4gb (cant' upgrade to 3gb) but I would be wasting 1gb. Alternatively I could upgrade to Vista 64.

well im comparing this to a gateway and compared to that for price=performance its way overpriced... gateway fx 7811 has 4gb ram 9800m gt a processor with 2.26 ghs dual core and its 1,400 american

The 9800m is a good GPU, but the gateways has only one, the 1730 has two 8800's, the 8800 and the 9800 isn't much between them. Also the fact that the Dell has built in over clocking in the BIOS which is warrenty supported, pushing the CPU to over 3ghz. Thirdly you'll be buying you Gateway through a retailer. Try getting them to visit your home for free.

The gateway looks like a nice budget gamer, but not in the same league.

TV tuner is an option (USB VDB), Satelite, if you can get a USB adapter thing for it. Connect your PS3 to it?? only through media sharing (Vista only), you can get an adapter from DVI to HDMI, so yes, but not as an input to the screen.

I got the M1730 over the M2010 cause the 1730 is way more powerful than the 2010 and I needed all that power. Only downside might be the smaller screen size, but that doesn't really bother me..its only 3 inches.

I'm hesitating between investing for one of these or the m1530. If I choose this one, I'll fork out another grand but i've fallen in love with it... lol

The problem is that I will be using it daily at school; so I need to carry the thing around... (is it that heavy; i need to hold one... but no damn store has one..)
