  • This episode is definately from one of the books of Stanisław Lem (a Polish writer of science fiction) "Astronauts" (Astronauci; 1951) - great book .

  • Going to other planet, only humans? Better Bring Nukes

    Seems Legit

  • I say, that WAS pretty cool. I would like to see the rest of this film.

  • Fantastic movie, love to see all of it. Had no problem following it even with sub titles!

A lot better than most of its contemporaries.

  • Such masterful use of silence! Great clip!

  • Comrade alien in Soviet Russia we probe you !

  • Tigger fun...

    What would Pooh think?

  • WOV, to jsem netušil, že jsme byli takoví tvůrci. Super.

  • This should've been put on the Twilight Zone! Its ahead of its time and it tells a sureal story.

  • This looks really good! I'd love to see the whole movie.

  • cool, star trek

  • Fantastic !

    Thank you for sharing !

  • I've been looking for this movie for thirty years. Saw it in a theatre as a kid and couldn't remember the title! Thanks for the upload.

  • Hi,

I tried to find the dvd on amazon but cannot find it, any idea where i can buy the dvd, this looks so cool.

  • No matter how 'campy' this looks compared to our sci fi flicks... it is so far ahead of its time of anything that Russia EVER turned out, it's quite incredible. I mean in the MIR Space Station, the fire hydrant looked like it was bought at a hardware store, and the seats looked like they were bolted together from old Volkswagen parts. So this... is stunning. I wish the Russians believed in fashionable space design... have you seen their station on ISS?? OMG!!

  • @doceigen the movie is not Russian (Soviet) but was shot in Czechoslovakia...

  • @radekwizardoz Yes I know, its right there in the description. The Russians should have had Czechoslvakia design its space vehicles. Have you seen how primitive they were?

  • @doceigen haha:) Any chance you came across "Cesta do praveku?" (in Wikipedia under "Journey to the Beginning of Time") It was also whown in the US, though they completely changed the beginning to make it appear like an American movie. Considering the year this movie was made (1955) Jurassic Park seems to be a bit out-of-date :)

  • That looks great. I'd like to see the whole thing.

  • Wow. Definitely ahead of its time compared to most sf movies of the time.

  • the sound effects remind me of forbidden planet.

  • no way its amazing!!!! takes the camera work its good!!!! the plot seemsnice also good actors no space sci fi movie will be good without good actors

  • Awesome, exept for the strange notion of gamling, tux clad capitalists in space. Everything else.. WOW.

  • BRILLIANT. So true - John Galt and Ayn Rand off each other with Tigger-fun and leave a spaceship booby-trapped with nukes for future commies to find! ACE!

  • Wow what an amazing flick!

  • This looks way ahead of its time for what was out back then. The story line, sets, and effects are pretty awesome. Wish it was color. I bet it would have been even more amazing. I wonder why they don't release this in the states in our Region Code?

  • @internationalgiant1 I just looked it up and they have it on Amazon...

  • looks real to me

  • Their space boots are like those gym shoes the kids wear that light up when you walk.....this is so great!!!

  • THE NASA HAS BUILT A SPACE SHIP FOR CATS !! the unbelievable truth is in the video spacecat 175

  • 2:35 Yatzee?

  • I'd say Kubrick probably saw this before he made 2001-A Space Odyssey.

  • FAKE!

  • woah !! this movie from 1963 !! looks very awesome graphic...but well black and white ..but this very very good !

  • Its never a good idea to explore a derelict spacecraft. Look what happened to John Hurt in Alien.

  • Hi Guys! This is "Ikaria XB 1" (Czech Ikaria XB 1) - sci-fi film from 1963 directed by Jindrich Polak, based on their threads novel by Stanislaw Lem (Polish writer/scientist/philosoph ) Magellanic Cloud, which, however, is not mentioned in the final film.

  • I would like to see this entire film-- Exceptional black and white cinematography and imaginative sets! Maybe it's further down in the comments, but does anyone know the name of the movie? Thanks!

  • @vonzigle It is czechoslovak movie from 60s "Ikarie XB1"

  • @DonCarlos01 U R very smart! :D

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!

  • It's Czech movie based on Sci-Fi novel by famous Polish author, Stanislaw Lem.

It's really good novel but, like it was quite normal in those days, it has to have anti-american accents in order to be publish.

Surprisingly, the Czechs didn't show nowhere in the clip the USA emblem, indicating that those murderous, blood thirsty people in there were Ameriken Kapitalisty.

I watched the Russian version of this movie and the US sign was showed several times, here and there, on the ship.

  • Very similar to the scene in The Black Hole when the Palomino is sweeping the surface of the Cygnus.

  • Totally fake

    Fuck flying disks

  • @BladeLigerV Fake? It's a movie, obviously it's fake...

  • @BladeLigerV Dude, it's an old movie from 1963, give me a break. You must be one of those kids born into CGI movies.

  • Guys this is a czechoslovak movie not soviet. This movie was made in 1963 it looks interesting.

  • polish not soviet

  • Cinematography has shades of 2001, this looks like a very interesting film. Would love to see the whole thing. Very good effects, sets, lighting and imagination. Journey to the end of the Universe.

  • @ivor1 the whole thing is on youtube

  • Fascinating! Wish the whole movie was here.

  • Dog comes in at a fast past whinning; 'Ok guys who's gonna take me out for a "space walk"?! Damn, been holdin fer about 10 light yrs now and I HAVE TO GO'

  • Gee, shouldn't the translation spell nuclear veapons? Now we know what happened to the Robinson Family from Lost In Space! Hopefully Penny got off the 'JUPITER' before Dr Smith went nuts! :D

  • OMG this film has haunted me for years. I remember seeing it as a kid and I will never forget the sets, the ships and the moment the flesh crumbles and floats off of the skull in the pilot seat.

  • Haha, at 9:20 I swore I heard a dog.

    And I did!

Well here's another film I have to find and see.

  • the essence off this movie was ANTI NUKE

  • Holy shit! Cigars in space!! Now that's fuckin living! or dying in this case.. who gives a shit about oxygen when you have a havana?

  • "capitalist immorality"? Typical dogma from non-American countries.

  • wow.great!

  • non-propaganda movie... nice SCIFI like Space Oddysey...

  • wow! i have this movie.

  • They, of course stored those poison canisters on the flight deck. Near the end, the captain just killed the co pilot so he could live longer. Finally those nukes, where would an American go without some Tornado© brand nukes eh? No, not one or two but a dozen nukes ready to be fired at a push of a lever. Good old soviet propaganda.

  • From the dog tag this is a 1987 rocket ship from either UK or USA, more likely from USA. Yup, Jethro just didn’t figure they needed more oxygen. He didn’t know that all them wicked decadent activities such as playing poker, laughing, and loose women will cause more oxygen to be used. Just when it was running out the captain decide to off the whole crew with the appropriately named Tigger Fun© brand poison gas.

  • Comment removed

  • what is the name of this film?

    and who is the director?

  • Well, honestly I don't see much of a communistic propaganda in this scene nowadays. Yes, it's anti-militaristic, antinuclear and shows how barbaric humans could be... but still, isn't (for example) StarTrek full of these ideas too?

  • ¿COMO SE LLAMA ESTA PELICULA COLEGAS ?

  • search: the dawn of intelligence

  • it`s great movie with great atmosphere. jindrich polak was pretty cool CZECH movie director.

  • i wish i could speak hte language, they really had good sci-fi movies too

  • This looks incredible. I'd love to see the whole thing.

  • We need more Czech-made films on YouTube!

"Tiger Fun" as a name, sounds like, "Tiger Joy" by Stephen Vincent Benet.

I'd like to see the rest of this.

  • People who made Fallout had to see lot of such movies.

  • if anyone is interested, i have an original US 3 sheet (41x81) poster of this on ebay now just search for the Voyage To The End Of The Universe

  • The movie director had to in sixties to fly to the Moscow whether the spaceship model is compliant.but the russian comrades were very interested in his leather briefcase and they asked him if that can be purchased in our country. approximately was spaceship approved and whole movie. hurrah

  • nice effort.

  • Commies suck.

  • Sure, sounds like the film had definite propaganda spin, but I still like all sci-fi that tries to do something different with the genre, whether it be production values, storytelling, or special effects. On that level I appreciate it. As for "bourgeois" capitalism people tend to forget the alternative, Communism, is much worse. A massive state-run system that dominates all aspects of your life and punishes individuality and basic freedoms? If you like it by all means move to North Korea.

  • @motownmaniax Capitalism is no better than Communism. At least with Communism you get to know exactly who your opressor is and you know he's your countryman and has at least somewhat of the country's interests at heart, with capitalism, anyone with enough cash can buy your leadership and coerce them to do what they want to bleed the public and give not one damn about the country in which they operate. Truthfully, I'm reluctant in my Soc-dem, but logically its the best choice in this world.

  • hey when do we get the whole movie?

  • I want to see the whole thing!

  • This is bogus. There are no commies in the future. Or muslims,or fags, or democrats,or progressives.

  • @supressorgrid or Blacks or poor, or Jews or... well fuck it! People! In truth, its less likely for GOP type neo cons to exist if education and world-knowledge becomes more and more available (something Japanese & Americans need terribly!) there will be less religion, but Islam will be more likely to be larger before diminishing, gays will increase as the population does, & "progressives" will become "conservatives". Case in point: Reagan would be considered a bit to the left if he ran 2012.

  • @Sine312 That is a load of Crap, Even the Republicans have slid so far to the left that Bill Clinton looks like a right winger.

  • @supressorgrid I can prove it. If the Reps are to the left of anything it's unclear to me what that could be. Reagan tried to bust unions, WI gov is trying this now. Reagan defunded social programs (which led to street wars and the proliferaton of the poor into organized crime) which the GOP is doing now, Reagan deregulated dozens of industries, which led to ENRON, Tyco, etc, and GOP is trying to do now, BUT - social policies are on a path towards religious fundamentalism.

  • @supressorgrid that difference is what scares me. No abortions, but abused orphans who become criminals are fine. Banning Gay Rights-which I'm indifferent to but I realize that "Pursuit of Happiness" doesn't mean just my own. de-regulation, which makes me think the right doesn't THINK. repeatedly over the past 100 years de-reg has BANKRUPTED the United States but GOP still tries! WTF?!? Cutting edu- you're telling me the greatest country in the world is made up of uneducated people?!?

  • @Sine312 There are no Gay Rights, just the rights of every individual to pursue, not attain happiness. You want the govt. to guarantee your happiness. As for deregulation, all monopolies were created by govt rules and regs. And last of all govt. education is almost as bad as no education at all.

  • @supressorgrid once I saw you were Libertarian, I changed my Youtube Rant in your inbox. I don't need the gov't to provide or guarantee my happiness, however-I do support healthcare reform and anyone who will overhaul (not defund) education which imo should be rights. Gov't education does pretty well depending on the demographic served.

  • @Sine312 Your idea of rights always seem to involve someone else paying for it. You cant give some one thr "right" of healthcare or education unless you deprive others of their right to property to finance it. Government cant give you any thing they did not first take frome some one else.

  • @supressorgrid My idea yes, I'm a bit of a social democrat and I don't thinks it's cool when children die of starvation in the first of first world countries (as they did-in the 80s). And I'm not totally against taxes if they are used as appropriately as can happen with human beings. Do you feel as if your taxes are spent better on fighting in the mid-east or against fellow Americans convicted of minor non-violent crime, or invest in such that would prevent the latter to a greater extent

  • @supressorgrid and considering that the vast majority of the wealth gained in this country was paid for by someone other than us, we both in fact claim rights that dig into others pockets in one way or another.

  • @Sine312 Bill Gates has made himself richer than most people could dream of but you could not show me a dollar that wasn't given to him willingly for his computers. How could you lay claim to anytning he owns?

  • @supressorgrid he had been already proven to have stolen intellectual property, but all in all you've made a decent point. Then again, he has more money than he could spend in a lifetime-how is that okay? He has more money than his offspring can spend in their lifetime. Im not downing free enterprise, Im downing outright greed and lack of foresight in making this country greater than ever before!

  • @Sine312 America is all about making money, the term was started here. Bill Gates,no matter his wealth, made it he did not steal it from an existing finite pile depriving it from others. That money however much is his to do with as he wishes. NO ONE else hasany claim to his wealth.

  • @supressorgrid so the death of American children is cool with you then? The retardation of our intellectualism & thus our might and losing our currently less & less deserved position (and ego)? Our country is failing, Libertarianism, excessive conservativism hasn't helped. You can claim it's due to liberal values upsurp this but the fact is we are far more to the right than we have been in decades-as is Europe.

  • @supressorgrid I guess you're right... He just magically created the money from nothing and absolutely no inflation had to occur and nobody else had to lose any money in the stock market for him to gain it.

Those damned laws of thermodynamics? That's right, they're another liberal ploy.

  • @supressorgrid whatever dumbass obama is right of center at best... barry goldwater was a liberal compared to any dem now... the right has their way now the scummy rich own every media outlet and go to war with anyone one they want. get real...

  • lol tigger fun. weird name for a weapon

  • Communist Sci-Fi; Read what this loon wrote in the description of the video. Smug and uppity!

  • he's not a 'dumbbass' for asking if it's Soviet...he's just curious

  • what is this movie called???? designs are great-spooky-is this Soviet?

  • @SkittlesEarth it is czechoslovakia SCI-FI movie called "IKARIE XB 1" from 1963 year

@DaBoogie049 "TIGER FAN" would be more accurate :)

  • @tazik553 THis movie i pretty good just from this scene, bout to find it with Eng subtitles!

  • Many thanks for posting that, truely a gem!

  • I've always wanted top see Communist Sci-Fi!

  • @borgduck To...........

  • very cool indeed.

  • it is not soviet, dumbass,

    it is czechoslovak

  • @sharpshooter8811 its SOVIET-STYLE dumbass/ read descriptions before writing

  • I love it.

  • watching this at night before u go to sleep is pretty cool

  • Pretty cool. When was this film made? The saucer looks bit like one of the phony Nazi UFO models I saw elsewhere.

  • AMAZING cinematography!

  • At the time this film was made, George Lucas still squeezed pimples.

  • I am a bit of a sucker for films that makes some effort to be technically accurate and especially so with older films, loved the sets and costumes the suits actually looked viable. Very interesting piece of cinema.

  • Creepy. For something from the 50's I'm impressed.

  • RETRO!!!

  • From the people who gave us the word, 'robot". Impressive.

  • Tiger Fun...not.

  • Czech/Soviet. Same thing.

  • @Unexpectedmessages

    Mexican/Canadian/American. Same thing.

  • @Unexpectedmessages Jistě, co čech, to sovět :D. O vzdělání američanů se vypráví leccos, kdoví, jednou možná v podobných diskuzích na internetu přepíšou dějiny. Brr, musím to zajíst hamburgrem a zapít kolou.

  • @Unexpectedmessages and you are clever boy from slave-holding rasistic USAnazistan of the same style like South Africa during apartheid age, aren´t you? Because only USA were slave-holding western state with racistic right up to the 1960s in modern era in your way of thinking, idiot

  • Voyage to the end of the universe... Man I never thought I'd see it again. I'd love to see the original, uncut version. As I remember it was a thoughtful movie. And seeing this just makes me want to see more. Thanks!

  • awsome !

  • YouTube User Law 001 You MUST upload the full movie! LOL! It looks like it'd be pretty interesting, in an old movie campy kind of way. I'd really like to see the full thing. Thanks for uploading this one!

  • What exactly was a luxury cruise ship doing with nukes and nerve gas? >.> I want to live in the universe where there's a market for deep space death cruises. "Not going anywhere in more ways than one!" could be their slogan.

  • @SkyfirePrime As far as i remember, in book "The Magellanic Cloud" it was an automatic ship without crew. Don´t know why it is like this in the movie, maybe they just want it to be more attractive.

  • Amazing stuff, very cool to see. Looks better than American sci fi films of the same era.

  • @AnakGiant And they got some concepts right, like suit-mounted lights, helmet-mounted cameras and research by computer (lol talking internet). Way above average production.

  • Its a lot better than what the americans had at this time. When I first saw starship enterprise from the 1960s I cound't stop laughing!

  • wow! really well made video! visuals are really good for 1963. But the sound FX are awful. Gotta love the LFO sound for the ufo's and the door opening at :51 hahahaha

  • which is the title of this movie and can it be found on dvd or download?

  • is this movie real? wow, deep space is sooo interesting! when is this filmed? and why we dont know about czechoslovakian in space???

  • @Marbas1801 jesus crist, you must be very stupid, the third nation in space were the CZECHS!!!!! the first were Russians, second US men, and the third were the Czechs, because Czech astronaut VLADIMÍR REMEK was the first non-russian and non-USman astronaut in the space ant Czech language was the third that you can hear from space. Remek was in the space on Sojuz-28 board in 1978...

  • @Marbas1801 'cause you certainly eat too much fat burgers

  • yeah, I was gonna say something ignorant, which I would have hoped everyone would realize was a joke....but Im sure no one would, & Id get like a a dozen replies telling me Im an idiot, then Id have to keep saying over and over again.."no....I was joking" But no one would believe me, then Id just give up, and Id run for office in 15 years or so, but someone would find my comment and my running opponent would use it against me and say I was serious and it would all start over again. so I wont.

  • Definitely, they speak Czech, not Russian.

  • @trekfancvg Beautiful!! Thank You

  • I understand Most "posters" here are kids. For the era it was a pretty good movie.

  • Great quality. Thanks for posting. Love Old Sci-Fi Films/Shows.

  • It is czech movie from 1963 ( Jindřich Polák )

  • In soviet russia film watches you.

  • @simontimon2 lol

  • Why aren't all their bodies decayed, only the one sitting with the gun was decayed?

LOL! The dog at the end.

  • @Eschatus2 Based on what the computer said about Tigger Fun not causing deterioration (or preventing deterioration depending on how you translate it),I'd guess that the bodies of the people killed by the poison weren't supposed to decay. It kind of makes sense. If it killed everything in the room including bacteria and fungi,it would act as a preservative, though the bodies should still look all dried out and mummified.

  • @fancykitten85 - Oh, I didn't catch that--- thank you! So it acted like a perservative. Very interesting.

  • "Tiger Fun..." that is AWESOME. I love that name, it's bone-chilling. Thanks for opening my eyes to this, I had no idea there was some quality sci-fi available from "the other side" during the height of the cold war.

  • @stevel738 I've been amazed by Soviet Era sci fi and other films. Many of them remarkable. You can find others on you tube etc under "russian science fiction" For some fun, check out "Alita". Then also the original version of "Solaris" on the serious side. Kick ass. We in the West tend to know little more than the propaganda we've been fed about Soviet life, culture, so on.

  • @Commiton the film is Czech, and the Czechs even under communistic ruskie occupants regime had absolutely different and of hiht level culture and life and society, industry and so on than fucking russian occupants...

  • I remember this film from when I was a kid and managed to see it again last year. A very interesting movie, but it's one that really needs an introduction and an explanation. Reading the book would probably help, but a voice-over from a couple of film critics would really do it justice.

  • WOW. Thanks for uploading this. I must go find the DVD now to buy ... great scene.

  • All the less Soviet-style as it's based on a Polish sci-fi novel (The Magellan Cloud by Stanislaw Lem). The original is a masterpiece and I think this sort of does justice to it just one of the finest periods of Czech film-making. Note the great camera work and lighting,

  • That was really neat. WHen they are going into the ship, it reminds me a little of the scene in 2010 when the two space explorers first enter the Discovery. Cool stuff. Thanks for posting.

  • @AdamEtheredge When the spotlight scans the surface of the ship: "The Black Hole" with Maximilian Schell (Disney)

  • @flexibartrampolin Awesome movie. I just watched that a week ago. Brought the memories flooding back...

  • Good job on the spacesuits. Not like the crappy ones Hollywood had in the 50's to early 60's that looked like something made for a local kiddie program. Although they look like they really DO have their "high beams on".

  • good film

  • You can tell this was made by people who respected science fiction.

  • Very good! Better special effects than any American sci-fi film from the early 1960s. Thanks for posting this!

  • "Czechoslovakia's first science fiction film"

    ...

Hey, what about the Verne movies? Vynález zkázy (1958)? And what about Krakatit (1948)?
