I find it slightly odd though, that the uploader must be making a point that all information should be free without reference and citation... And yet clearly states "I didn't make this video"
Why must that be the point I am making? Why can't I just upload something I find well made and thought provoking, without making some greater point about reference and citation?
The reason I wrote that in the description was because I didn't want to gleam false praise for something that I did not create.
If I cut this movie up with purpose, and made it my own, then I would have no reason to put a disclaimer.
Are the mashup guys simply saying that the copyright holders are overcharging for the license to sample? Or are they saying that the copyrights have no value and that there should be no charge for using them?
@IngeniusDutchDesign Fantasia also came out in 1940 (not 1960), Cinderella came out 1950 and Alice in Wonderland came out 1951. If you look at the power point presentation those dates are correct, the slide show added for the movie really needed a fact checker.
Sorry, Mr. Hufflewaffle, I don't know what world you are living in... Our generation is full of illiterates. Lawrence Lessig's point is that it is a new way of communication. Remixing, sharing, and using this 'digital network' is building a youth of creativity and curiosity rather than timidity and paranoia. As Girl Talk states, ''it is beneficial to share ideas...''
Beat making is easy man... if you've done techno dj for years, beats should come super easy to you :) get fruity loops, some acid pro, and other various things to get some creative things going.
@Innacut If people understood that they have been pawns in the game of music, i.e., why doe all music sound the same, they would simply stand a better chance to force an argument about fair use and copyright infringement. All music is engineered the same way with one thing in mind...to get you to buy it. There is a set formula for this and if you don't abide, you're kicked to the "indy" curb. It's theoretical name is "pre-digested." You have no choice of music, if your desire is main stream.

Major cords there is a formula u apply when making POP music follow the formula and u have half chance
MAJOR CHORDS _this is because majortiy of pople resopend postivly to major chords and minor chords is a netive effect thats not to say never use minor
4 to the floor 4 Beats 4 bars
Chorus verse chours verse verse chorus chorus fade
there many more factors to take in
But my point is this why pop music all sounds the same ....I hate the music industry ..im allways with the underdogs

@IngeniusDutchDesign Here are more date corrections
Steamboat Bill Jr 1928 (The song Steamboat Bill was released 1911)
Modern Times 1936
Modern Inventions 1937
Fantasia 1940
Cinderella 1950
Alice in Wonderland 1951.
If you look at the power point presentation those dates are correct, the slide show added for the movie really needed a fact checker.

"It is literacy for a new generation.... its building a different culture"
Sorry lawyer-type dude, but the new generation doesn't need to be taught literacy - its already literate.
You don't need other people's words to write your story. Your OWN individual story is what builds a culture.
Mashups by their very definition mash culture into homogenized, McDonalds flavored baby food. The media are already doing a great job of that.

And don't limit urself to presets. Make sure you try and mess around with the instruments and maybe tweak the presets a little.
