tainted grey knights?.... what? a grey knight tested and discovered uriel ventris was un-tainted from his death oath to the eye of terror. the grey knight also pointed out that grey knights cannot be defeated by those loyal to the emperor period. only daemons from the warp might defeat them. no one had chaos marines laying around... lazy and no imagination in this battle since grey knights points are for there effectiveness against daemons...

@mcdoobies24 Yeah. Dont do grey knights. Expensive as hell too build. Expensive as hell points wise... And really hard too play. So unless your ready too lose about 95% of the time anyway. Dont pay for them. just do vanilla Space marines if your beginning.

My suggestion is to collect a small 1000 space marine army. For there is more variety is a very good beginner army to play with. After some time, and your satified with your space marine army. Collect grey knights. Grey knights are pretty nice because of how little you need. Except space marines have a wider variety to choose from and is easier to learn with. Grey knights are expesnive.
im a grey knight player.... i mean deamonhunter and its true that they are the 2nd army with less variety, necrons have less:), nevertheless they are the coolest, they dont suck, their general sucked in this battle, and finally if you dont like to play with few troops use assault troops and inquisitors, the last ones are a great fire support.
@heald111111111111111 go w/ the blood angles, there is a lot of variety and they are getting a new codex in april. The current codex if free, and if u really want you can buy grey knights, make us some fluff about teleporter packs as jump packs or something and then u have assault marines. be creative, and i vote for blood angels.
dude i had the same problem and this may be alittle late but go BAs first, then later when your more experienced get GKs so that they can control the BA , its a great combo

hey, uh, would a grey knight in power armour be the same as a chapter master with a relic blade for the spear, and the wrist gun as an auxilary grendade launcher
they do get the bonus for charging, what they don't get is the extra attack from their storm bolters. The result is the same but just a small difference. True the basic grey knights don't have power weapons just force weapons granting a +2 to strangth making them strength 6. Everything above the basic grey knight troop's nemesis force weapon counts as a power weapon as well as giving the +2 to strength.
If the it's the same in the end is it really even worth mentioning? -_-"
Besides, I'm well aware of Justicars and up having str 6 power weapons (hell, a Grand Master has a str 6 force weapon. Which has done me in on multile occasions).
It is 'tough' if you use them like other armies. You just can't waltz in like jerry garcia, smoke some pot, and kick some ass... As long as you use them to their advantages, pure win. Still one of the best armies in 40k.
Well yeah that's what I meant. Grey Knights are quite powerful if used correctly (although they are points heavy for what they do) but its difficult finding their niche. They're like my Emperor's Children. If they can pull off their battle plan then they're great... but if something goes wrong it all crumbles. They're powerful, but unforgiving.
PURE GK is extremely difficult to use at time, and its fine saying use them to the best of their abilities, but the fact is you have to play like hell to let them do their best, otherwise you will fail epically. The are the second hardest army to play in 5th edition, necrons being the worst.

2 deadnoughts with las and missle and 2x 20 GK as fast attack with 5 termies and 2x 5 GK and HQ thats pretty much the best GK can be choosen.thats 1700 it not bit more.
Okay, did the GK player also forget the Shrouding rule? Also, why keep them static in the open where they're bound to be slaughtered? Those termies were useless where they were deepstriked as well. Terrible player. I've had a similar battle where with a little planning and tactics the BAs were wiped out. And finally, no such thing as tainted Grey Knights, not GK has ever turned rogue.

PROS: Epic in close combat-storm bolters all round-lots of good special rules with 'Grey Knight' special rules-
CONS: cost 25 points at base cost-very few of them-rules are very old-
Blood Angels
PROS: New Codex coming april-assault marines for troops-baal predators bring hurt for high Sv, 1W models-
CONS: not as good for their points most the time-latest codex in 2 old white dwarf issues-possible will rely on deep striking a lot (bad for CoD)

hey, uh, would a grey knight in power armour be the same as a chapter master with a relic blade for the spear, and the wrist gun as an auxilary grendade launcher

Grey knight troops don't get nifty power weapons though, and no bonus for charging.

they do get the bonus for charging, what they don't get is the extra attack from their storm bolters. The result is the same but just a small difference. True the basic grey knights don't have power weapons just force weapons granting a +2 to strangth making them strength 6. Everything above the basic grey knight troop's nemesis force weapon counts as a power weapon as well as giving the +2 to strength.

Besides, I'm well aware of Justicars and up having str 6 power weapons (hell, a Grand Master has a str 6 force weapon. Which has done me in on multile occasions).

It is 'tough' if you use them like other armies. You just can't waltz in like jerry garcia, smoke some pot, and kick some ass... As long as you use them to their advantages, pure win. Still one of the best armies in 40k.

Well yeah that's what I meant. Grey Knights are quite powerful if used correctly (although they are points heavy for what they do) but its difficult finding their niche. They're like my Emperor's Children. If they can pull off their battle plan then they're great... but if something goes wrong it all crumbles. They're powerful, but unforgiving.

PURE GK is extremely difficult to use at time, and its fine saying use them to the best of their abilities, but the fact is you have to play like hell to let them do their best, otherwise you will fail epically. The are the second hardest army to play in 5th edition, necrons being the worst.

2 deadnoughts with las and missle and 2x 20 GK as fast attack with 5 termies and 2x 5 GK and HQ thats pretty much the best GK can be choosen.thats 1700 it not bit more.

Okay, did the GK player also forget the Shrouding rule? Also, why keep them static in the open where they're bound to be slaughtered? Those termies were useless where they were deepstriked as well. Terrible player. I've had a similar battle where with a little planning and tactics the BAs were wiped out. And finally, no such thing as tainted Grey Knights, not GK has ever turned rogue.

They wouldnt destroy the, remeber blood angels are a CC army and GK arent actually great at CC, shotting is definitely their forte. A storm bolter on every man and 2 psycannons in every squad!
